Ryan was furious, but his hands were tied, he knows how menacing Damon can be and did not wish him to touch his twin. So he called him back.
“Any good news?”
“Let her go, and I'll release Jasmine.” His voice, though steady, dropped to almost a whisper.
“And what? That's it? You're just going to release her, and I'll let Ryanair go?” He sneered.
“What do you want?”
Damon sat on a chair, his legs crossed on a table.
“Why did you kidnap her? What do you want from her?”
“Nothing! It was a job I got, I have no business who she is.” His voice was vibrant.
“From whom?”
“Anonymous? I have no idea who it is.” He said, but this enraged Damon.
He got up, walked to Ryanair and pulled her hair.
“Can you hear that? Do you think I'm joking here?” His evil aura crept into his voice, determined for an answer his ears were itching to hear.
“And you think I'll be joking with her life? Please stop hurting her. I really don't know who it was.”
Damon lets go of her hair.
“Release Jasmine and send her over to the junction around block 5 in ten.”
“My sister?” Ryan's voice quivered.
“I'll release her when I see Mrs. Forbes.” He said and ended the call.
“Get the car ready.” He said to no one in particular.
Perry stood up to prepare the car.
~~~~~~~~
Ryan stormed out of his room into another room filled with men and a tied up Mrs. Forbes.
“Let her go......” His voice was filled with pain and his eyes wished her dead because he knew he was letting her go to make an enemy and keep one an enemy.
“Take her to Block 5, Lord D's men will be waiting.”
He turned to leave, but one of the men stood up to question him.
“Why, boss? We already took a whooping sum of $11,000 for her, why would we just let her go?” He said in an unwavering voice.
With a swift move, Ryan turned back to him, grabbed a gun from the man standing next to him and shot the man that jumped spoke.
“Anyone of you have a suggestion?” A scary look marred his face.
The room was in silence except for Jasmine's whimpering that was heard, her eyes fixed on the man who dropped dead.
Ryan left the room while two men untied her and led her out of the room.
“Why are you letting me go? No ransom?” She asked in spite as she was forced into a black jeep.
“Watch your tongue, or I might have to deliver you in pieces.” One of the men threatened, his knuckles ready to fist on her cheeks.
He forced her into the car, and she sat down in between the men as they drove her off.
It was a few minutes drive and the car pulled to a halt. Jasmine was shocked to see Damon as she stepped out of the jeep, her eyes twitched.
“You…. You? What.....?” Damon cut in with a smile.
Unusual of him.
“Get in the car, Jasmine, I'm taking you home.”
She got in the car while Damon spoke to the men. Though she tried to make sense of what they were saying, but it was literally gibberish to her hearing. She saw him shook hands with the men and got in the car.
Fear gripped her heart, fear of not knowing who she got involved with to escape, a kind of hell for her.
“You're free to ask questions.....” He turned to meet her timid gaze. “I'm sure you have a lot of it.”
Jasmine let off a deep sigh and focused her attention on the road while Damon took her home. She kept mute, which shocked Damon.
“You should get some rest, I'll be back to check up on you tomorrow.” He said as they both stepped out of the car in Jasmine's compound.
“Come in, we need to talk.” She swallowed hard, unable to meet his gaze, and made her way into the house.
He followed her, and they sat in the living room while a maid served them some chilled apple juice.
“What is it you want to talk about?” He took a sip and settled his gaze on her.
“I don't know who you are or what you might be, but.......” Her lips paused when her eyes locked with his, causing her to gulp down her saliva. “You can't just ghost your newly wedded wife who has no contact of yours for two weeks.” Her voice hushed, yet as a stern warning.
“I apologize for keeping you worried, but I'm only here to sign the contract.”
“Signing the contract means you're expected to be a responsible husband, can you do that?”
“I can only do that when you're alive. The document, please.” His voice sounded hastily.
She let out a soft grunt, walked up to a drawer below the television, and brought out a document and a pen. Handed it to him after she signed.
“I'll be in my room then.” She said and made to leave.
“We're not done yet.”
Her brows pinched at his remark.
He grabbed a document which he had dropped earlier before running off to save her, signed it and handed it to her.
“What is this about?” She asked after glancing through the file.
“A contract Of fealty, my contract. Signing that contract means literally giving your whole life to me, I get to decide if you're to be safe or in danger.” His voice was cold as his words.
Jasmine glanced through the file again, “Much better than being a Gilbert.” She mumbled and signed it.
Jasmine woke up the next morning, feeling weak, she managed to call Isobel.
“Hey, Isobel,” she started and got out of bed, staring at her reflection in the mirror near her bed. “I'd like you to cancel all my schedule for the day.”
“Why, Mrs. Forbes? Did something happen?"
“Not at all, I'm just calling in sick today. Bye.” She added and ended the call.
A soft painful moan escaped her lip, it was a sharp pain from her stomach and she gently pulled up her blouse, looking at the reflection. It was the mark, and it was bleeding like it was a fresh wound, everything began to hit her…. The memories of that day.
