Mac’s POV
I staggered to my feet, the taste of blood thick in my mouth from the brutal blows Alpha Kevin had landed. His fists were relentless, each punch a reminder of my mistake. I shouldn’t have underestimated him—shouldn’t have believed that my new power was enough to bring down an Alpha like him. I could barely keep up with his speed, let alone dodge his attacks.
I should have listened to Alpha Silas, taken his advice to train and master my abilities before leaving the pack. But my wolf was restless, urging me to reclaim the home I knew was mine. Now I was paying the price.
Kevin lunged at me again, but this time, his movement was just a fraction slower. I felt the surge of adrenaline coursing through me, hot and fierce, sharpening my senses. I caught his arm mid-swing, twisting until I heard the bone snap. He roared in pain, but I didn’t let up. Even as he tried to counter with his other hand, I seized it and broke it too. He staggered back, gasping, his eyes wide with pain and disbelief.
I didn’t hesitate. A swift kick to his abdomen sent him flying across the room, crashing into the wall. Before he could recover, I was there, fists hammering into his face and ribs, ignoring his agonized groans.
“How…” he gasped, blood trickling from his lips as he looked up at me in horror. “You… you weren’t supposed to have the Night Goddess’s power. I made sure—you and your family—”
His words died as my hands wrapped around his throat. He struggled, but I held firm, feeling his life ebbing away as I tightened my grip. With one final twist, I snapped his neck, and the room fell silent.
As the adrenaline faded, pain flooded my body. I staggered to the windowsill where I’d stashed a bag of witch potions and downed a healing elixir, feeling the warmth of its magic ease my wounds. Just as I finished, I heard footsteps—the guards, drawn by the noise. They entered, their faces pale as they took in the sight of Kevin’s lifeless form. Slowly, they lowered their heads, acknowledging me as their new Alpha.
Ted, Kevin’s Beta, appeared, his face frozen in horror. “No… Alpha Kevin can’t be dead,” he whispered, voice trembling.
“Take Beta Ted to the cells,” I ordered, my voice cold and steady. The guards obeyed, dragging him away as he screamed and cursed, vowing that Kevin’s son would return to reclaim his title. But this pack was mine now, and I wouldn’t let anyone take it from me.
With my wounds healing, I sent a message to Alpha Silas, informing him of my victory, and tried calling Yuri. She didn’t answer, but I wanted to hear her voice before dawn broke, grounding me in the reality of what I had done.
The guards took Kevin’s body for burial. With no Luna and only a son who’d left the pack long ago, there was no one to mourn him. At last, I could breathe, knowing the battle was over.
“Gather the pack,” I ordered. After changing into clothes that showed my authority, I stepped outside.
The pack assembled, murmuring in surprise, their eyes wide as they saw the Night Pack’s sigil ring on my finger—a symbol of my new position as Alpha. Silence fell as I raised my hand, commanding their attention.
“I have killed Alpha Kevin,” I declared. “I am your new Alpha. The rightful heir has returned.”
A cheer erupted, the sound of freedom and relief. Kevin’s reign was over, and the pack was finally at peace. Now, I needed to find worthy leaders—Beta, Omega. It was time to rebuild.

Drake’s POV
I couldn’t sleep, irritation gnawing at me. Yuri’s reaction to my kiss had left me unsettled. I’d expected her to push me away, maybe even kick my ass. Instead, she’d been… calm. I couldn’t get a read on her, and the uncertainty was maddening.
After a night of patrolling, I returned to the mansion, making sure the hybrid dragons were adjusting well. Silas had brought in a team of doctors to care for them, a responsibility I hadn’t anticipated. As the last of the pure dragons, I thought I’d be alone forever. But now, I had others to teach, to guide. And then there was Opal, stirring up even more trouble.
A portal shimmered in the air, and Abi stepped through, her expression annoyed. “So, why call me, Last Dragon?” she asked, arms crossed.
“One of your rogue witches needs handling,” I said, leading her to the dungeons. Opal was there, shackled and half-asleep, but she stirred at our approach.
“What did she do to deserve this?” Abi’s disapproval was clear. She was fiercely protective of her own, even if they were rogues. I quickly explained the situation, detailing Opal’s defiance.
“Take off her shackles,” Abi said sharply. “I can’t examine the mate bond with her restrained.”
Reluctantly, I complied, releasing Opal and guiding her to the main hall. Yuri was there, sipping coffee, her gaze sharp as Abi prepared her spell.
“Opal is your mate,” Abi announced, her words like a punch to the gut. Opal’s eyes softened, looking at me with an intensity I didn’t want to acknowledge. “What does your dragon feel for her?” Abi pressed.
“Hate,” I replied instantly. Opal’s face fell, the hurt stark in her eyes. “It doesn’t feel the same attraction it does for Yuri,” I added, reaching for Yuri’s hand, grounding myself in her presence.
Abi watched me with a calculating look. “Dragons can have more than one mate,” she said. “Give it time. Let both Yuri and Opal stay until you’re certain.”
The thought of juggling two mates was enough to make my head spin. Opal’s jealousy was palpable, and though Yuri stayed calm, her distance stung. I noticed her texting Mac, and jealousy flared within me. Why was that wolf coming to see her?
“You should calm your dragon,” Abi said, her tone amused. To her, this was a game, a spectacle. To me, it was torment. I wanted one mate—just one woman to share my life with, not this twisted, complicated fate.
