2 Not Nice

Aubrielle POV

I'm lost in my mate's eyes when my mother pulls me back from him and bares her fangs. Mother don't, I yell, and she turns to look at me in shock. Before I can say anymore, the wolf howls and all the wolves that are still alive follow him into the woods. Just as fast as the chaos started it's over. Liam must have shifted, and he runs over to me in a pair of basketball shorts, wrapping his arms around me. "Thank goddess your safe." "I was worried when that rogue bastard came near you." Star growls in my head. I want to scream not to call him that, but I stay quiet. I'm fine Liam, go check on the warriors and make sure that everyone that's hurt gets medical attention. I turn and walk back inside to where Morgan is standing. "What's the matter Auby, you look like you saw a ghost?" I whisper not a ghost my mate. The look on her face would be comical if it wasn't for the situation. I take her by the hand and lead her out of earshot of the others. You can't say anything, Morgan swear to me. "I would never betray you Auby, I won't say a word, just promise me that you will be careful." I promise, oh, and I got my wolf. Her name is Star. That's amazing, I can't wait to meet mine. I'm going to shift tonight. Will you come with me? "Of course, what are best friends for?"

I head back outside to make sure that all the injured have been taken for treatment and to find my parents. I find my father carrying a wounded warrior to the pack hospital. Dad, do you know why we were attacked? "Unfortunately, Aubrielle filthy rogues don't need a reason." I flinch at his words, but I stay silent. I walk into the hospital behind my father and start going room to room. One of my hybrid gifts is healing powers. I am able to help warriors with severe wounds, as others will heal quickly on their own. Once everyone has been attended to, I start back toward the pack when I feel like I'm being watched. I am by no means a damsel in distress. I have been trained to fight since I was a child. Besides that, I have many gifts as a hybrid. I take a deep breath and I smell the most decadent chocolate. "Mate is near, go to mate." Star, I know what you're saying but he is a rogue it could be a trap. We have no idea why they attacked the palace tonight. I hear her whimper and I hate to burst her bubble. I want our mate as much as she does, but we can't put ourselves or the kingdom in danger.

Rowan POV

I can't believe she is my mate, Aubrielle. She is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. I never expected to see her again, but when Raymond said we had to attack, or he would kill my mother, I didn't have much choice. I hate the thought of hurting people who once cared so deeply for me. They were like my family for a long time. Once we make it a safe distance from the palace, I shift back, slipping on shorts. Toby comes to stand next to me with concern written all over his face. "Why the hell did you retreat?" "You know what Raymond said?" I know just as I'm about to tell Toby about Aubrielle Raymond's lackey, Jason comes over pushing me to the ground. I stand up immediately, ready to rip him apart. I would be careful Jason or do you forget what I am. "Don't threaten me you little s**t, I don't care if you are Raymond's pet." I hate when he calls me that. "Don't you ever give an order to my men again to retreat or I'll rip your head off and take it to Raymond for his wall." "I can't wait to see you explain to Raymond why you didn't get the princess when you were standing right in front of her." I don't answer to you Jason and I will speak with Raymond myself." He growls and turns shifting before we all run toward the pack.

When we arrive, I go toward the cottage Raymond shares with my mother. Once I'm given permission, I enter to find my mother lying on the floor crying. I look up and growl at Raymond. "Don't growl at me boy I don't care how special you are I'll kill you myself." What did you do to her? "Someone had to take the punishment for your actions, since I can't take it out on you." I stand and take some deep breaths before I speak again. If you would have let me, explain you would have known why I didn't just snatch her up. "Fine, this should be a good explanation." She is my mate and I believe I can get her to come with me, so we won't have to lose any rogues.

He starts to laugh "are you kidding me the princess of the werewolf kingdom is mated to a filthy rogue." I shoot daggers in his direction. "Your being serious right now." Do I look like this is a joke, do you think that I would not follow through on your orders for any other reason? "That's good Rowan because I like having your mother around so I would hate if I had to kill her because you betrayed me." "You're like a son to me." I feel Goliath growl in my head. "He isn't our father and someday I'm going to enjoy ripping him apart." I know you will Goliath and that day can't come soon enough. "What is your stupid wolf saying to you now boy?" He just is telling me he wants his mate. "Well unfortunately he can't have her because she will be mine soon." What do you mean she will be yours? "What did you think I wanted her for?" I thought you wanted her to make Asher give you the Kingdom. "No, my son I want her to mate and mark." "I will be King and have a beautiful young Queen." I can feel Goliath pushing to the surface at his words. I push him down. I will never let that happen Goliath. "Is that going to be a problem, Rowan?" No Raymond, no problem at all. "What did I tell you to call me?" I take a deep breath, no father no problem at all.

Aubrielle POV

After I go to my room and change, I head downstairs to meet Morgan. We're just about to head to the pond when my mother stops me. "Auby, can I speak with you before you run off." Of course, mom, I follow behind her to the office. I knew this conversation was coming, but I'm still nervous. I take a seat and wait for the question. "You're really going to have me make you tell me." I take a deep breath; the rogue is my mate. "Thank you for telling me." What now mom do you want me to reject him? "I would never ask you to reject your mate, but I will ask you this of you." "I believe in the Moon Goddess choices, but you still need to make sure his intentions are pure should he try to pursue you." You aren't upset he is a rogue? "I don't care what he is as long as he is good to you, and he is doing the right thing." What do you think dad is going to say? "If he knows what's good for him not a damn thing since it's your mate." I get up going around to hug my mother. Thank you, mom. I love you. "I love you Auby and I will always protect and support you."
