CHAPTER 11The first of May I made an expedited trip by train to nearby Wytheville to review the transcripts of the Floyd Allen murder trial. I only had a few hours, so I used my recently acquired speed reading skills to scan the four volumes. For some reason, one testimony jumped out at me, and I read it in more detail than the others. It was the testimony of Thomas Daniel. I already knew that others had testified that some of Judge Massie’s dying words were “Sid Allen killedt me.” I also knew that testimony showed that Judge Massie was shot three times; once in the right side and shoulder, once in the right arm, and once in the left leg. But Thomas Daniel testified that Judge Massie fell sideways to his RIGHT, on his right shoulder. It bothered me if he had been shot from the right
