END OF CHAPTER 6 -KATOMI'S POV

‘We can’t’ Shay looked at my dad as if he was mad ‘Do you have any idea what he’ll do if we take his mate away from him, he’s not just our Alpha, he’s the King, she’s his Queen. There’s no way he’ll let her go, he’ll have every pack in the world looking for her, and he’ll kill anyone who tries to keep her from him, kid’s, take your things back upstairs and unpack, hurry, if the alpha shows up and see’s we’re trying to leave, there will be hell to pay’

‘No’ My dad yelled, and the twins froze, holding their suitcases ‘She has to go, what the hell do you think he’ll do when he finds out that his mate is half Fae. He'll already be curious about Remi's color, he'll start asking questions’

I closed my eyes in pain ‘I’ll go on my own’ I looked at them all ‘Listen to your mother’ I told the twins ‘Go unpack right now, I’ll leave in a few days once things have died down. He might suspect that I’ll leave now that I’ve rejected him so I need to let things calm down before I can sneak off the territory, and when I do, you will all stay here, he won’t hurt you if he thinks you know nothing about it’

‘NO!’ My dad yelled.

‘For goddess’s sake Will!’ Shay screamed ‘This isn’t just about hiding her anymore, you’re talking about taking away the King's mate, think about the twins, what will happen to them if you get killed trying to keep Alpha Wyatt away from Kat. Listen to your daughter, she’s right and you know it’

My dad growled furiously, he picked up the nearest suitcase and slammed it against the wall, scattering clothes all over the ground.

‘F*CK!’ He screamed ‘OF ALL THE MATES YOU COULD HAVE, YOU GET THE KING! FIRST RAEMAIR AND NOW ALPHA WYATT, WHY THE HELL CAN’T YOU GET A NORMAL MATE!’

My dad spun around and looked at me in shock ‘Oh no’ He looked at me in fear

‘What?’

‘You’re not just the Lycan Queen, you’re also the heir to the Fae crown’ He said, reminding me of my mother’s title ‘The war this will create among the lords will be worst then anything we’ve ever seen, the Fae on Raemair’s side will come at us in full force when they find out their Queens mate is the Lycan and not just any Lycan but the Lycan King, the same dam King who helped kill their kind for decades!’

‘No one even knows who I am in the Fae world’ I pointed out ‘Grandmother thinks I died with mom doesn’t she? No one has to know who I am or who my mate is and once I’m 18, I can reject Alpha Wyatt properly and this will all be over’

‘You think it will be that easy’ My dad sat down next to his mate and took her hand, trying to calm himself ‘Just reject your mate and go on with your life. Losing a mate is hell. When I lost your mother I nearly died, not to mention what it could do to the King, he’ll either die or go full wild. Either way, Lycan’s everywhere will lose strength and power’

‘So what should I do!’ I shouted ‘Accept him and play house with a Lycan who actively wipes out my kind!’

‘Alpha Wyatt stopped the war’ Shay pointed out, trying to comfort me ‘He only kills the Fae who attacks our pack, perhaps he’ll accept you’

‘And will he accept never having children!?’ I countered ‘The pack needs an heir and I can’t give him that!’

A loud knocking on the door made us all jump and Shay quickly shot up and started repacking the suitcase my dad had thrown at the wall, I helped her, and together we hid all the clothes and the other 3 suitcases before my dad went to the door

He took a breath before he pulled the door open. My whole body relaxed when I saw Beta Beau standing in the doorway and not the King. His suit looked wrinkled and torn, and he seemed on edge.

‘I’m sorry to come here like this, but we need Katomi to come with us’

‘Why?’ My dad asked, looking from Beau to the other two warriors standing by the gate.

‘It’s the Alpha’ Beau looked at me pleadingly ‘I know you’re his mate. After you left tonight, he lost it, I finally started calming him down, but then I mentioned that your father asked permission for you all to leave the territory to visit your family, and he snapped. He lost full control, Alpha Kai took over. We managed to pin him down, but we need you to help us calm him down’

‘How do I do that?’ I hated that he was in pain, I hated myself, I was the worst mate ever, no, I wasn’t his mate, I couldn’t think like that.

‘All you have to do is touch him, and I’m sure he’ll get control back’

‘My daughter isn’t risking her life to’

A loud growling filled the air and Alpha Kai came running up the driveway, his eyes fell directly on me, and he slowed his pace.

I couldn’t help my heart racing and Remi started to purr and wag her tail excitedly.

‘He is so sexy’ She said happily.

‘Alpha please you’re going to scare her!’ Beau pleaded, but Kai growled and snapped at his Beta who sank back and showed his neck.

My dad blocked me from view, but it only enraged Kai. He lowered himself to attack and he opened his mouth, showing his teeth, there was blood on his claws. He’d hurt someone because I made him lose control

‘Daddy stop!’ I quickly shoved him away ‘He’ll kill you, just let me handle it, he won’t hurt me’

My dad looked hesitant, but he stepped back, protecting his wife now.

I reached out my hand nervously and Kai’s growling stopped ‘Easy Alpha Kai’ I whispered nervously ‘I’m right here, I’m not leaving the pack, please just calm down’

I took a shaky step towards him, his eyes watched my movements, afraid that I’d try to run.

‘Why don’t you come with me’ I said and slowly opened the door to my dad’s study that led off the entry way ‘Come on, come inside’

I stepped inside, and Alpha Kai began to growl again the second he lost sight of me, he charged into the room, nearly busting the door frame apart as he was too huge to fit without a struggle, he spun around once he was inside, looking for me as I stood by the door.

‘No one come in until I tell you it’s safe’ I ordered, and closed the door.

Alpha Kai stopped growling again and sat down once we were alone. I bit my lip nervously as I stepped closer to him and his tail started wagging as wildly as Remi’s.

‘There now’ I smiled and ran my fingers along his neck, feeling his soft fur, I’d dreamed about touching him like this for years and now that I was, I was terrified.

Alpha Kai began to purr softly and rubbed his head against my shoulder 'MINE!'

After a few seconds Alpha Wyatt regained control, and he began to shift back, so I stepped away from him to give him room and I grabbed a blanket off the couch by the wall.

‘Here’ I passed it to him without looking as he wrapped it around his waist ‘I’ll let everyone know you’re in control again’

I spoke to soon, the second I reached for the door handle, Alpha Wyatt grabbed me and pinned me against the door, his eyes were glowing golden again, Alpha Kai was trying to take control once more. He must have thought I was leaving him again

‘Alpha please calm down’ I pleaded ‘You’re hurting me, I wasn’t leaving you, I was just’

Alpha Wyatt’s mouth came down on mine hard, kissing me as though he was terrified he’d never see me again. I tried to pull away but he was so strong, it was only seconds before my resistance vanished, and I began kissing him back. The feel of his lips on mine was incredible, and I couldn’t even feel the bond yet. Could his touch get better than it was now once I was 18, I found that hard to believe.

After what felt like hours, but in reality, was probably only minutes, Alpha Wyatt pulled back, so his face was inches from mine, our lips were no longer touching, his eyes golden brown once more, and we were both breathing heavily.

‘I’m sorry’ He whispered, his eyes closing in pain ‘I didn’t mean to hurt you, I didn’t mean to lose control. I thought I was stronger, I should be stronger’

‘It wasn’t your fault’ I told him ‘I shouldn’t have, I was so cruel to you, you didn’t deserve that. I’m sorry’

‘Your father wants to take you away’

‘We aren’t going anymore’ I said ‘We’ve already talked about it, I told them that you’re my…. anyway, we decided not to go’

‘Good’ He exhaled and opened his eyes, looking at me with longing. His eyes landed on my lips ‘Your lips are so soft, I’ve dreamed about kissing you for so long, but I never imagined it would feel as great as it did’

I blushed and looked down. I agreed, I’d never felt anything like that and my heart was still beating out of my chest.

‘Was that your first kiss?’ He asked and I looked back into his eyes shyly.

‘Yes’ I whispered.

‘And it was our first kiss’ He acknowledged, thoughtfully ‘And we forced it on you, I’ve f*cked this up so completely, I’m so sorry I scared you Katomi, I’m so sorry baby’

His head fell to my shoulder as his arms pulled me against him, holding me tightly

‘I forgive you’ I said easily ‘I share the blame of this, it wasn’t only your fault’

Alpha Wyatt looked up at me and shook his head ‘None of this is your fault’ He said ‘I should have waited until you were of age, I should have waited until you could feel the bond’

‘I do feel it’ I admitted, and his eyes lit up ‘Maybe not like you do, not yet anyway, but I’ve always felt this connection with you, I thought I was just a stupid kid with a crush on her Alpha, but I guess it was the bond, I’ve always wanted you to look at me like you are now and only me, it broke my heart every time I saw you with other woman’

Wyatt closed his eyes in pain again. It hurt him, knowing he’d hurt me ‘I’m sorry’

‘But it doesn’t change anything’ I continued ‘We can’t be together, Alpha Wyatt’

Alpha Wyatt opened his eyes again. This time I noticed how they shimmered with moisture. Would he lose control again? Instead he lent in and gently pressed his lips to mine again, kissing me sweetly, not like before, this kiss felt like I was home.

‘Looks like we can be together perfectly fine to me’ He murmured ‘I will win your heart Kat, I’m not going to give up and stop calling me Alpha, it’s just Wyatt or Kai now’

‘I can’t’ I shook my head ‘It’s not right, you’re my Alpha’

‘I’m also your mate’

He reached up to touch my face but when he noticed the blood, he pulled his hand back.

‘Do you know who you hurt?’ I asked ‘Did you kill someone?’

‘No’ He shook his head ‘I just gave them a few good swipes to warn them to back off, they’ll heal, but I’ll go and check on them now’

We helped each other up, when had we sat down against the door, was I that distracted by his kiss that I hadn’t noticed him pull me down onto his lap

‘I suppose I’ll have to go home and get dressed first’ He gestured at the blanket around his waist, I tried not to look over his chest and abs, he was so sexy

‘I suppose’ I agreed ‘Unless you’re interested in starting a new fashion trend’

‘That smart mouth of yours will get you into trouble one day Kat’ He warned, and I looked down ‘Lucky thing your mate is a King who can protect you’

‘Nice try’ I frowned up at him, but when our eyes locked, something in the atmosphere changed, I began to feel hot all over. I was suddenly very aware he was naked, I cleared my throat ‘You should go’

‘Do you swear you won’t try to leave’ He asked, sh*t

‘I swear’ I smiled my most convincing smile

Wyatt frowned at me, he clearly didn’t believe me ‘Well just to be safe’ He said ‘I’ll make sure the perimeter guards know not to let you off the territory unless I give my permission’

‘You can’t do that’

‘Yes I can’ He said firmly ‘This is my pack, what’s the issue anyway, you said you wouldn’t leave’

‘That’s not the point’ I pouted

‘Goddess, you’re beautiful’ He said suddenly, making me blush ‘Even when you’re sulking’

‘You shouldn’t say things like that’ I said, but then it dawned on me ‘Wait’ I looked up at him ‘Will you tell the guards that we’re, that I’m your’

‘My mate’ Wyatt finished my stuttering sentence. Why couldn’t I say the word ‘Of course, you know now, why hide it from everyone else? Besides, after my little temper tantrum tonight, I think it’s rather obvious who you are to me, you don’t want anyone to know’

‘Of course, not’ I admitted angrily ‘Everyone will start treating me differently’

‘As well they should’ He said simply, but I huffed and folded my arms.

‘Can’t you just tell them I pissed you off and that’s why you lost it and leave out the whole mate thing’

‘No’ He said and lent in, kissing my forehead. I tensed in surprise, it was going to take some getting used to, having him touch me so casually after years of him avoiding me completely ‘Now get some rest, it’s been a long night, I’m sorry for ruining your birthday’

‘I’d forgotten all about my birthday actually’

‘My fault I guess’ He smiled

‘It’s fine’ I shrugged ‘My birthday’s never really been a day of celebration for me anyway’

He looked at me with pity, I shouldn’t have said that, but thankfully he didn’t comment. Instead he said ‘I have a present for you, but it was in my pants pocket which are now shattered back at the hall, I’ll make sure someone collects it for me and I’ll give it to you another time’

‘You don’t have to give me anything’

‘I know’ He said and reached next to me for the door handle.

‘Oh, sorry’ I quickly moved, and he opened the door.

My dad was waiting impatiently in the entrance, pacing around ‘Kat’ He called out when he saw me

‘She’s fine’ Wyatt walked over to him ‘I’m sorry for this, I should have spoken to you first before telling Katomi, but things didn’t exactly go the way I’d planned’ He looked at me with a frown ‘She’s very stubborn’

‘I am not’ I said softly under my breath, but they heard me.

‘Said every stubborn person ever’ Wyatt pointed out, before turning back to my dad ‘We’ll speak in private tomorrow’

‘What is this’ I snapped ‘The 1600’s, are you planning on buying me with a hundred goats or something, you don’t need to speak to my dad about me, it’s up to me who I’m with’

Alpha Wyatt glared at me, his eyes glowing golden, and I quickly looked at me feet, stupid controlling Alpha’s

‘As I was saying’ Wyatt continued ‘We’ll speak tomorrow, I’ll link you with a time I’m available’

‘Yes Alpha’

‘Good night everyone’ He said before turning to me and taking my hands in his.

I froze in surprise as he pulled my hands to his lips and kissed them ‘Good night’ He smiled and walked out.

‘Sleep well girls’ He linked me, I jumped. This whole linking thing would be yet another thing I’d have to get used to ‘Dream of us’

‘You wish’ I said back before I could stop myself,

‘We will’ Remi giggled ‘Good night mate’

‘Goodnight beautiful Remi’ Alpha Kai said gently and cut the link

Once my dad shut the door he rounded on me ‘What did you talk about in my office?’

I blushed and looked down ‘Nothing, I just helped him calm down, and I told him we weren’t leaving the pack anymore, but he didn’t believe me, he said he was going to tell the border guards that I’m not allowed to leave the pack’

‘F*cking Alpha’s!’ My dad ranted

‘Will, we have the hidden tunnels’ Shay pointed out ‘Don’t work yourself up, we need to come up with a proper plan’

‘I don’t want to go!’ Remi linked everyone ‘I want to be with our mate!’

‘Hush Remi’ I told her ‘You know we have to go, you know we can’t be with the King!’

‘Yes we can!’

‘Both of you stop’ My dad exhaled and rubbed his face ‘What a night hey, look, let’s just get some rest and we’ll talk about the next move in a few days once things have died down’

‘Do you really think things will die down?’ Shay asked ‘The literal King just announced his mate, the entire pack will know by tomorrow, you know I always thought he treated Katomi differently but I never imagined they’d be mates’

‘Let’s just go to bed’ My dad came over and hugged me ‘I’m so sorry bunny but you will get a second chance mate, one that is better suited for you, if you do choose to rule once you turn 18 you can’t be mated to the Lycan King’

I suddenly felt extremely depressed, all I’d ever wanted was to be with Alpha Wyatt and now my dreams were coming true, and I wasn’t allowed to be with him.

‘I’m going to bed’ I pulled away from my dad and headed to my bedroom, a nice long hot bath would help, or at least I hoped it would.

‘Bunny’ My dad called out after me

‘Just leave her be William’ Shay pleaded, and I was very grateful for her interference ‘She’s had a very emotional day, she needs some peace and space’
