My eyes shot open, gasping for air as my mouth tasted of a fuel-smelling liquid. I felt for a quick second alive and well and then the next I was back to the well-known weak state. I didn't have the strength to struggle as my legs and arms were held by chains, I couldn't move much and very much couldn't be bothered to. The squeaky door echoed through the room that was dimly lit by a singular fluorescent bulb that dangled off the ceiling by a wire, “You're awake,” the strange figure said, his voice bouncing off the thick walls before taking off his mask.
