3 We followed our companions into the walk and quickly led through a pair of open doors into the school proper. The main entrance hall occupied two floors and branches off in all three directions before us and to our sides. The centerpiece of the large room was a larger-than-life statue positioned in the middle of the floor. The stone portrayed a man in stoic robes who held a large book in one arm and his wizened face lifted up to the ceiling. The sculptor had done a masterful job of giving life to the man’s face, as his eyes looked so real that I wondered if they didn’t follow us.
