Investigating the incident

“Then, what’s wrong about that? Isn’t the Evil Mastermind is the enemy of the United Heroes association?”

“That’s true on the surface, but we never really went all out to fight against each other.”

Hearing that, Kalina seemed to be taking time to understand what Captain Green means. Of course, the United heroes association has been trying its best to fend off the Evil mastermind. However, their battle so far has never gone past the level of a battle between individuals or groups at most.

As such, the tragedy that happened today could be said to be an oddity. Sending a lot of people to disturb the Olympics. It was as if the Evil Mastermind itself is provoking the United heroes association. They are asking them, when will you finally go waging war against us? Are you still going to stay silent even after all of this?

Captain Green then takes a deep breath as he knows that he needs to make a decision. As much as he wants to deny it, the evil mastermind has gone too far.

“Alright, let me make a call first.”

Pressing the phone on his table, the call connected before long.

“Green, what is it? I’m busy.”

“Red, I know. After all, a lot of things happened today. However, I will need to get permission from you.”

The person that Captain Green calls is none other than Mighty Red.

“What kind of permission do you want?”

“It wasn’t for me. But it’s for Kalina.”

“Kalina?”

“Yes, you know, our niece. She wanted to get the permission to chase after the culprit of today’s incident.”

“You mean, the Enforcer of Justice badge?”

“Yes.”

Captain Green can hear the same sigh coming from Mighty Red, just like the one he just let out earlier.

“Okay. I approve. After all, ‘she’ has gone too far today. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be turning off the phone.”

If even Mighty Red has given his permission, there’s no reason for Captain Green to refuse Kalina’s request.

“You hear him. I will be sending the form for the badge. At the latest, you will receive it in two days.”

“Thank you, Captain Green.”

“If there’s nothing else, you should go visit your little brother and check on his condition. To be honest, it is quite a surprise he managed to reach the final of the newcomer competition.”

“He is really full of surprise. I have visited him earlier and see that he is doing alright. I would rather visit the villains that we managed to catch today.”

“Well, speaking of that, they are acting strangely. It’s hard to describe it myself. Well, you are a psychiatrist anyway. I hope you can get something for us too.”

After saying her farewell, Kalina then drops by at Max’s ward once more. Seeing that he hasn’t woke up yet, she decided to walk towards the prison where the villains from today's incident are being held.

United heroes prison is the only prison that held villains from seven different cities in the same place. It has the best security ensured as the minimum requirements to be a guard here is having a D-rank and has been active as a hero for at least one year.

Getting inside the facility, Kalina was easily granted access as this isn’t the first time she is interrogating a villain. Kalina walks towards the interrogation room, but she isn’t entering it. She moves to the room beside it, where she could see what is happening inside through one-way glass.

Inside the viewing room, three other people are there, recording what is happening while examining the situation.

“How’s the situation?”

“This is the fourth person that we interrogated today. However, we have a common confession that we found strange.”

“What is that?”

“It seemed that they all don’t remember what happened. Also, some things don’t quite add up.”

“What do you mean?”

“For example, that man. His name is Andy Bayer, and he is a D-rank villain, C-rank at best. However, today he infiltrated the archery range and managed to defeat the A-rank hero, David Dunn. If we’re looking at the stats only, it is impossible for him to beat David. Not to mention, from the CCTV record on the stadium, he seemed to dominate him head-on without any tricks. When we ask for his confession, he seemed to doesn’t remember anything from one week ago. We also found his word to be true since his last sighting is at a small bar outside the town. The same happened to the rest of the people we catch today.”

Hearing what the investigator has to say, Kalina found it strange. Not to mention he looked at Andy Bayer that keep on saying that he is innocent. Even when he is shown a recording from the scene of what happened today, he strongly refuted that it wasn’t him, and he doesn’t have any recollection.

“Alright, leave it to me.”

Kalina then walked out of the room and headed inside, where Andy Bayer is being held. The investigator inside saw her walking in and goes out after giving the nod. Kalina then sits down on the chair.

“Oh, after hard tactics don’t work, are you going to use the soft method now? Sending a pretty girl here, now it seems you guys finally realized that I’m innocent.”

Kalina can only scoff at his word.

“Although you said that you are innocent, we have the recording of today’s incident. As much as you tried to deny it, it doesn’t change the fact that you are guilty. Not to mention, you still have your past wrongdoings gone unpunished. Three thieving assault cases, two r**e-murder. You aren’t caught yet just because no one took the mission to capture you.”

After reading the report of what the man has done, Kalina feels her raged building up even further. One of the reasons she quit being an active hero is also because of the mission board system that the association implemented. Just like Andy Bayer’s case, if no heroes take the mission, the villain will be able to roam free with no one catching them.
