Giovanni's fight

After seeing the bracket, Max knows that his match will be later after lunchtime. As for the participants, they got their own waiting room for today. So he didn’t know whether he should go out of his room or watched the match from the screen inside.

Knowing that he doesn’t have anyone that he is familiar with except Linda, that will be his enemy today. It will be awkward for him to meet with her now, so he decided to watch the match from the waiting room.

The first match is Child of Light versus Flamemancer. This match immediately aroused loud cheers from the audience to the point that he could hear it from the waiting room. He is immediately interested to see what is causing such loud commotion from the crowd.

When Max looked at the screen, he finds Giovanni standing at one side of the arena.

“Oh, so Child of Light is Giovanni’s hero name. No wonder the crowd went wild as he is the top favourites. He is starting out first, which means that he is in the left bracket while I am on the right bracket. The only time we will meet is if we met in the final.”

Looking at Giovanni’s opponent, the Flamemancer is a D-rank hero that looked menacing. Donned in a red suit, it seemed that he is excelled in long-range battle with fire element based ability. Max himself couldn’t predict how this battle will go. After all, what he see from Giovanni so far is his extreme speed. He doesn’t know if he will be battling close range or long-range.

When the matches started, the Flamemancer didn’t look worried at all.

“I’ve seen your battle style before. Although your speed is extreme, you won’t be able to do anything if you can’t touch me.”

The Flamemancer seemed to be confident in facing Giovanni. His first move is to erect a circular wall of fire around him. The audience could even feel the heat from the fire, and they know that it would be hard for someone to approach him without suffering burn.

The audience is more interested in seeing what Giovanni will do in this kind of situation. Giovanni then pointed his finger towards the Flamemancer, and in the blink of an eye, a flash of light comes out from the tip of Giovanni’s finger and hit the flame wall.

The attack is too fast to follow by ordinary people. All they know is that there’s a flashing light, and a sizzling noise can be heard. But, if someone looked closer, there’s a trace of something burning on the flame wall. There is a dark patch at the size of a finger now, as if something just hit it and scorched to ash.

It seemed that Giovanni’s last attack couldn’t manage to pierce the flame wall and got decimated instead. Max couldn’t even follow Giovanni’s attack with his eye. If he is the one facing Giovanni, he might not even know why he lost.

The tactics that the Flamemancer employs is quite effective, seeing that it could stop Giovanni’s attack. Many people who are watching the match now is taking note of this. Thinking that they could use similar means if they face Giovanni later. Although they saw that the Flamemancer could stop the attack, nobody thinks that he could actually win the match. Therefore, they are still favouring Giovanni to win it.

Giovanni’s body then flashed by. This is the second time Max witnessing Giovanni’s speed. He couldn’t even follow it with naked eyes as Giovanni’s speed is too fast. This time, Giovanni appeared behind the Flamemancer. Nobody could see what is happening as the firewall wavered only for a short while before the firewall collapses entirely.

After the firewall is gone, everyone could see the Flamemancer clearly without any obstruction. There is no wound on his body, but he slumped into the ground slowly. He is unconscious right now.

“First match, Child of Light versus Flamemancer. Child of Light wins!”

With Elrisa announcement, the crowds cheered once again. Although the common people couldn’t understand what happened, they realize that Giovanni should have attacked earlier when his body flickers.

They know that Giovanni is the winner of this match without a doubt as the disparity between their strength is apparent.

“Since the match finished fast, we still have time to look at the replay of what had just happened. So let’s all take a closer look so everyone could see the beauty of the attack just now.”

Elrisa’s suggestion is accepted well by the crowd since this is something that they wanted to see. Although they are content with Giovanni winning the match, they still want to knows the detail.

A replay of the battle that has just occurred then played on the screen. With a slow-motion replay, everyone can see Giovanni’s movement a bit better now. It is a bit better since his movement is still quite fast for ordinary people to track.

Giovanni's body moved towards the firewall that the Flamemancer erected around him. In front of the wall, Giovanni stopped once, and as if he is thrusting a sword, a light beam comes out from his palm towards the firewall.

This time, this attack isn’t incinerated by the firewall as it could go through it easily. It then landed on the Flamemancer left shoulder. Giovanni didn’t even retract his hand as the light sword disintegrates by itself. Giovanni then moved behind the Flamemancer as a white shroud covers his body. The white shroud enables him to move inside the firewall.

With a light tap behind the neck of Flamemancer, Flamemancer slumped down on the ground after letting out a weak groan. With this, the flame wall is gone, and what’s the viewers see at the end of the battle earlier is now clear.

How Giovanni appeared behind the Flamemancer and the move he used to take him out is now understood by the people. If before, people think that Giovanni could win just because of his speed, it was wrong. At least, Max could see a different side of Giovanni that he showed in this match.
