Promotion meeting

Just like the rest of the people who go to the training camp, Max headed towards his own apartment after going back from Master Tenshi’s place. Although he has a mission to catch Blur, it wasn’t a mission that could be completed in one day as there is no precise coordinate of the target. The moment he arrived there, he opened the door and found his room completely dark.

He turns on the lights, but then he realized that nothing has changed from his room aside from some dust that is already accumulating because he hasn't been inside the place for one month. Taking a shower and laying down on top of his bed, he reaches out his hand towards the ceiling.

“Ah, it feels good to be back home.”

However, at the same time, he feels himself missing his companion that has been with him for a month. After all, they can be said to have become his friend through spilling blood, sweat, and tears together in training.

“I miss them. However, it is different from how I miss my parents. However, I don’t hate this feeling.”

Max also checked his phone and realized there is a mail from Muto regarding the details of his promotion to the C-rank. It will apparently happen one week later. All of the heroes that have been promoted this time will be preset. He also checked whether Kalina replied to his message or not. After all, he is curious about Kalina’s ability that makes her eligible to become an S-rank. He always knows that his big sister is strong, but not to this extent.

Thinking that there is nothing left for him to do, Max closes his eye and goes fast asleep. For the next few days, Max returned to his office and started taking other D-rank missions since there are no other leads from Blur’s mission. He has to do this regularly because he doesn’t have enough money to pay for rent, expenses, and Marie’s wage.

The day Max returned to the office and saw Marie, he is shocked. That is because Marie has clearly changed. Usually, she is more shy and introverted. Right now, she talked more and seemed to have more confidence in herself. After all, getting a placing on the support competition boosted her morale. It is a good change regardless, so Max didn’t have anything to complain about. She also showed improvement in her overall stats. It wasn’t only Max that demonstrated improvement, Marie also has grown, and it is a good thing.

A few days later, there is still no news about Blur, and Max is called to the United Heroes headquarters. It is to talk about the detail about the hero promotion that will be held several days later.

“Max, come sit beside me.”

Entering the meeting room, Max found Iki and Alan already sitting inside and chatting. He also joined them since they have become good friends during the training with Master Tenshi. Not long after, a familiar beauty stepped into the room.

Donning a white and red dress, she looked magnificently enchanting. Her face still shown some baby fat, but nevertheless, it didn’t reduce her charm.

“Max, look at that, that’s Fiery Fairy. Why is she here?”

“Iki, are you forget? Mister Muto said before that if we’re the candidates for C-rank promotion, she is on the list of B-rank promotion along with Aqua Jet.”

“Ah, I almost forgot about that. How do you still remember about it, Alan? I thought that as a beastman, your intelligence is quite low, but you’re very smart.”

“Iki! Who said that a beastman needs to be stupid? Not to mention it was just a body transformation and didn’t have any relation to intelligence at all.”

“Ah, sorry. Wait, why is the Fiery Fairy is walking towards us? Is perhaps she is charmed by me? after all, we both have fire elements. Mhm. She must be attracted by my passionate flame.”

However, reality always betrays someone’s dream. As Fiery Fairy walked past Iki, who is full of smiles, and approached Max. Fiery Fairy, a.k.a Yuna, can be considered as Max’s long-time friend. After all, they go way back since Max got involved with Yann and Bonio.

“Max, how are you? It’s been a while. I watched the broadcast at the newcomer competition. It is too bad that the evil mastermind decided to barge in at the final.”

“Ah, I’m doing well. How are you too? To be honest, I’m glad we managed to defeat Richard. If not, I don’t know how many casualties will occur.”

“True. If you have time, come and visit the rising star agency. after all, my team member misses you.”

“Sure thing. I want to talk to them too.”

After exchanging some pleasantries, Yuna finds a seat not far from Max because she is dragged by another peerless beauty that gives a hateful stare to Max and the gang.

“Max, how did you know Fiery Fairy? More importantly, she seemed to have a favorable impression of you. On the other hand, did you do something wrong to Aqua Jet? Why she keeps staring daggers at you?”

The other beauty that dragged Yuna away from Max is Aqua Jet. This is the first time Max saw her, so he is quite confused himself. However, there is no denying that Aqua Jet’s appearance is on par with Yuna. It can be said that there are two flowers blooming inside the meeting room right now.

Long light blue hair and a white battle skirt. Her costume is like a sailor uniform mixed with a high school girl's standard uniform. It is unique, refreshing, and manages to brings out all of her charms.

After that, Giovanni, Kieran, and Elica also entered the meeting room. Iki, as always, talked very loud and made the atmosphere merry. However, it all changed when a new person entered the room. Fiery Fairy and Aqua Jet, although they are of higher ranks compared to Max and the group, after all, they looked like a normal person. The next person that entered the room emitted a special pressure that makes everyone suddenly turns quiet.
