Accident

Before Max realized it, he has now managed to get out of the United Heroes headquarters' crowded building. He ran pretty far and finally arrived at a small park. He sits down at a small fountain where he could still see the front of the building and look up towards the sky. In the middle of the United Heroes headquarters, there's a big wall tv that could be seen by everyone who is passing by. Naturally, Max is now looking at it too.

"It’s party thyme!”

With a broad smile full of confidence, the man gives a thumbs-up, and Max feels as if the man on the screen is looking straight at him.

“Captain Green, what should I do?”

Max is crying with frustration. He looked at the shining heroes on the screen and wailing out loud.

“Captain Green, if I have no superpower, can I still be a hero?”

Just when Max is thinking like that, he saw something that he wouldn’t be able to forget until the rest of his life. There is suddenly smoke coming out from the building and the next thing he saw, an explosion started to happen from the bottom of the building, and it crawled all the way to the top of the building before finally, the whole building exploded.

Max was stunned when he saw all of that. As a small child, his mind goes blank as he doesn’t know what to do. However, suddenly he remembered something. His parents were chasing after him earlier. Seeing that they aren’t here yet, they might still be inside the now burning and destroyed building.

“Mom, dad!”

Max, who has already moved away from the building, is now trying to get back near the headquarter again. However, it wasn’t as easy as he leaves previously. Due to the explosion, the scene nearby is surrounded by panicking people.

“Please, let me get through!”

As hard as Max wanted to get through the swarm of people, he is just a young boy, and his physical qualities are losing to the other on the scene. Not to mention that not all of the people are trying to get near the United Heroes headquarters. Some of them are trying to get away from the location. That is because some debris starts to fall off from the sky that is earlier blasted off by the explosion. Panic, screams, it was very chaotic, and Max is one of the people who contributed to all of this.

“Please, let me through. My mom and dad are over there!”

As much as Max cried out, no one is paying any attention to him in this kind of situation. Even though he wanted to move forward, he couldn’t do it. Feeling helpless, Max tried his best to move to the side of the road. If he keeps on staying in the middle of the road, there is a chance for him to be run over and died because of being stomped by people who are running away in the area.

“Mom, Dad, I’m sorry. I don’t care if I couldn’t become a hero anymore. I don’t want any of that. Please, be safe. I promise that even if I didn’t have any superpower, I would be your good child that will make you proud. So please, come back to me. Pick me up; I’m waiting over here.”

Max cried while he sits in the corner of the road. Although his view is short and blocked by the people, the fire and smoke coming from the United Heroes headquarters can still be seen by him.

“Mom, dad. Please be okay.”

Unknowingly, due to fatigue, stress, or due to the endorphins released by his body when Max cried, Max is slowly losing his awareness. As he looked at the sky with a tint of red because of the fire, Max's consciousness faded.

“Mom, dad! Look at me! I am now a superhero. Although I feel bad that I couldn’t stay at home often for dinner from now on, at least I am now helping the world to make it a better place. Ah, just like I told you earlier, a distress call comes. I will need to go now. after all, this is my job.”

After that, Max flew off through the roof and broke the ceiling as he disappeared into the distance. He flies so fast, and right now, he’s already swimming among the sea of clouds. He enjoyed the feeling of the wind brushed against his face as he moves through the air. Previously, before he got a license as a hero, flying using his power is a crime. As the United Heroes organization is created to manage the superheroes, of course, there are laws to keep things in order. One of the rules is the basic one, someone who used their power without a license is basically committing a crime. A license itself wasn’t easily given to anyone. After getting their power discovered by the ability appraisal process on the United Heroes headquarters, the children will then undergo school, and when they graduate, they will be getting their license.

Right now, after getting his license, he can finally be freely fly in the sky. Max closes his eye as the wind embraces his body, and when he opened his eye again, his body suddenly dropped down to the ground. It wasn’t because he already arrived at the place he was heading to, but he suddenly lost control of his power. His body is falling rapidly to the ground, and Max is reaching his hand upwards, trying to grab the air, but it is useless.

“Noooo!”

Max screamed out loud, and the next moment he blinks his eye; he is already in a completely different place. The blue curtain is surrounding him, and a beeping sound that comes from a life monitoring device at the side of the bed.

Hearing Max’s scream earlier, the curtain suddenly opened, and a nurse with a clipboard on hand come closer to him.

“Are you okay? Did you feel pain anywhere?”

“Ouch!”

Max is a bit lost for a moment as he clutched his head where a stinging pain came when he tried to remember what happened before. Finally, he remembered what happened before he passes out. The smell of something burning, the chaotic mess of people, and his parents that is nowhere to be found.

“Big sis nurse, where’s my parents?”

Max asked the nurse, but even after some time, he hasn’t gotten any reply. Max is already afraid that something terrible has happened, but the nurse finally speaks after the pause.

“Little brother, can you tell me what is your name and your parent’s name? only after that can we confirm where your parents are.”

“Oh, my name is Max, Max Air. My father’s name is Gale Air, and my mother’s name is Miriam Air.”

“Okay, let me check it first.”

“Thank you, big sis nurse. My parent must be worried, so if you can do it quickly, it would be for the best.”
