Sewer mission III

This has happened once. Alexandra was only a B-rank hero back then. However, she has been acknowledged by the crowd as a rising star, which brings her to realize her limit and the drawbacks of her power.

One day, when doing a mission, she faces a villain with an outrageous defense. When the strongest shield meets with the strongest spear, only durability can tell which one will come out on top. One hour after fighting, Alexandra juice runs out, and after one last punch, her hands got disabled instead.

It took her months to recover to normal condition, and she realized that, in the end, she is still a human that could get hurt. When her power is active, she is impenetrable by bullets and stronger than others like a superwoman. However, if the limit is exceeded, she will return to become an average person. If she forces to use her power in this condition, her body couldn’t handle her own strength and gets damaged in recoil.

Alexandra then patted Max’s head as she answered: “Boy, I can see your concern but don’t worry. As long as my limit isn’t exceeded, my body won’t get hurt.”

Max nods as her words can be interpreted that she won’t get hurt as long as she is in control. That is also why Alexandra tried to finish every mission she is in as fast as possible and only use her power when she needs it. She couldn’t maintain her body to be impenetrable by bullet 24/7. However, it was a secret that only she knew.

“Okay, next question?”

Max thinks for a while before asking something that he is curious about.

“Big sis, as you’ve reached S-rank, you can be said to be one of the most powerful people. However, what is your goal for the future?”

“My goal, eh? I’ve always dreamed of achieving world peace, but I know that’s kind of impossible to do. No matter what, evil will always exist in a community. Maybe, my goal right now is to inspire more people so new heroes will emerge to make sure that evil won’t win? Also, if possible, I want to keep getting stronger. I don’t think that S-rank is my limit.”

As she said that, Max can feel as if Alexandra is shining bright like a star. He realizes that it was the certain charisma and charm that an S-rank hero has. Although she looked like a laid-back person when she talked with Max, he knows that she takes her duty and responsibilities as an S-rank hero seriously. If not, she won’t be the one coming here to back Max up.

As they are chatting, the people from the United Heroes association finally arrived. Max and Alexandra then make a report on what happened here, and they could eventually go out from the sewer.

Max also saw the Batrachopus Grandis being tied up by the people of the United Heroes association and put inside a thick metal cage that immediately buzzed with electricity.

“Well then, boy. Let’s meet with each other again sometime.”

“Alright, big sis Alexandra. Thank you for giving me your number. By the way, I have something to tell you.”

“What is it?”

“Please don’t keep calling me boy. I have a name too. You can call me Air.”

“Haha. It seems that you’re a man that couldn’t take it when you think that I am belittling you by calling you, boy. Okay, Air. See you around!”

Alexandra then jumped up and entered a helicopter that is hovering in the sky. In comparison, Max walked to the bus station and waited for the public bus to take him back to the United Heroes headquarters.

“Marie, I feel so envious to big sis Alexandra. She rides a helicopter everywhere she goes.”

“Well, that’s to make sure that she could come to any location as fast as possible.”

“I know. I just wondered when I would reach her level. Did you see it? The monster earlier is taken out with only one punch.”

“Max, snap out of it. The bus is here.”

“Ah, wait for me.”

While Max has to chase after the bus, Alexandra is sitting comfortably inside the helicopter. She talked to her teammate, Marcheline, over the intercom.

“So, have you found out anything about the boy?”

“Well, you won’t believe it if I told you.”

“Just tell me.”

“Air Hero, he is a new D-rank hero that just got his license six months ago. However, on the second day after getting his license, he got involved with a C-rank, almost B-rank villain, Crawley, and managed to come out on top. Although he has to be in the hospital for three months after that, he is defying logic. Not to mention that there is classified information about him that I won’t be able to access if I don’t have your S-rank authorization.”

“Eh? He has an S-rank classified info?”

“His family passed away at the bombing incident thirteen years ago, and he nearly becomes a victim as well. He also met Vanya and Lindt three years ago when the monument is attacked once again.”

Hearing Marcheline's explanation, Alexandra seemed to be out of it for a moment as she looked outside melancholically.

“Is it fate that I met him today?”

“Alexandra, are you saying anything?”

“Never mind. It’s just my mumbling.”

Alexandra then stretches her body which showcased her body.

“Uuuhhh. Marcheline, is there still anything left to do? If not, I want to take a bath first. The smell of the sewer is sticking to my hair.”

“No, aside from standing by for emergency, there’s no schedule for you today.”

“Okay, I’ll take a bath first. Tell the helicopter to send me back home.”

“Affirmative.”

On the other hand, Max forgets that his body probably smelled like dirty water as everyone inside the bus is avoiding him by keeping the distance by at least two meters from him and covered their mouth and nose.

“Marie, why everybody is looking at me like a plague.”

“Max, probably it’s because you smell.”

“Eh? What do you mean?”

“Did you suffer amnesia or what? You’ve just stayed in a sewer earlier for a couple of hours, and some of the water insides also splashed into your body as you run around.”

“Sh*t. why don’t you tell me about it sooner?”

“Well, the camera doesn’t have a nose, you know.”

“Oh, man. I hope I won’t be in the news tomorrow and dubbed as a smelly hero.”

“Pffft. You know, Max. You might be in the news. Who knows?”
