Today started off like every other day. Wake up and go to school. I was having such a great day until my older brother Kian messaged me and told me to get home as soon as possible. Good thing I had already passed all of my classes and today was the last day before summer break. Something happened at home and I needed to get there now. Little did I know that with that message my whole life was about to crumple and change completely.
Hi. my name is Nicole Vanderguard. I am 17 years old. I am turning 18 in a month. I have 1 brother who is 8 years older than me. We were raised by our grandmother, our mother's mother. We are really close. I love my granny so much and I am thankful that she took us in after our mother disappeared. We don't even know if she is still alive or not. We also don't know who our father is. Granny once told us that our mother brought us there one day and asked her to take us in cause we were in danger and that if "they" found us they would kill us. Who "they" are, well we never found out. She left and never came back and now granny hardly ever talks about her. I'm glad actually, it hurts too much.
Mom left us when Kian was 12 and I was 4. When Kian turned 15 he started working to help granny. When he turned 18 he met his mate Lesa. I couldn'tt wait to turn 18 and meet my mate as well. Anyways, Lesa is amazing. She is the sister/mother figure I always wanted. I still remember the day Kiki brought her home.
*FLASHBACK* "Nicki, Granny, I have a surprise for you both." I remember running to the living room where he was. He stood there with the biggest smile on his face. "what is it Kiki?" I asked. "sister what is the one thing you have asked for and have always wanted?" I wanted so many things "a new car." I replied. His face was priceless. "Nico you are 10 years old, you can't drive yet." he replied, chuckling at me. "haha I know, I am just joking." I replied. "okay, then for mom to come back for us." Kian frowns for a second. I don't think he thought that was going to be my answer. "Be realistic Nico and forget about that woman already. Remember you said you always wanted a big family and hated that it was just us 2?" I do remember saying that, but I got used to it just being us and granny and I kind of like it this way now. I did always want a sister though. "yes I always wanted a sister." I tell him. "Surprise Nico!" he yells.
A beautiful brown hair, green eyed girl walks in from the hallway. She isn't very tall and looks different than the older girls in our pack. She wasn't dressed with too little clothing and she smelled good. She smiles at me and granny. "Granny, Nico, this is my mate Lesa." I couldn't keep the smile off my face. "Hi." my brother's beautiful mate says. "Oh my goddess Kiki are you forreal?" I asked. I think I was still shocked that he had found his mate. He shook his head and I ran and gave her the biggest hug. "I can't believe this. I always wanted a sister and now I have one. Thank you Kiki I love you so much." I was so happy I could cry at that moment. Lesa looked between Kian and me "Kiki?" she questioned. Kian's face turned bright red "yes baby, my sister calls me Kiki and I call her Nico. They're our nicknames, but we only allow each other to use them. Everyone else must call me Kian. Nico lets her close friends call her Nicky, but normally it's Nicole." Lesa smiled. "awww I love it." she squealed "Thanks for the happy welcome. I have sisters, but we aren't very close. I hope you and I can get to be close." I smiled, my wish came true. "of course!" is all I said. *end flashback*
Ever since that day Lesa became my big sister. More like my mom. She completely took over. She helps me with everything. She has even been giving me driving lessons and allowing me to drive her old car to and from school. She and Kiki promised to buy me a car on my 18th birthday which is soon so I am excited for that. I am so happy where my life is right now. I love all of the people around me. I have the best family and friends I could ever ask for. Everyone around me is so kind and understanding and I love my pack. We have great leaders who we don't fear, but we respect them. I can't really complain about anything going on in my life and I hope things always stay that way. Little did I know things were about to change drastically.
