Chapter #5 "Show Me What You Got..."

1721 Words
Vera There was nothing more better than waking up into the arms of someone you love. And even though Vera knew it wasn't yet time to get up, she was glad that she momentarily woke up. How could she have witnessed the beautiful creature beside her, fast asleep, has she not. Even though she was still sleepy, Vera perched up on her elbows and gazed silently at Enrique. Eye closed, lashes fanned across his cheeks, mouth a little slack, his rock hard chest rising and falling slowly, he was a sight to behold. How can she not notice him before? He was right there with Ivan but she never paid attention to him until she returned back.  He looked peaceful and Vera envied him a little. Because she knew peace was going to be a far call for her. She was a honest person. She always has been. It's easier that way. Of course, honesty comes with repercussions but it was far better than lying. You can't just lie once. It was a never ending cycle. You need one lie to cover for the other and then another to cover that one. There's no end to it. And eventually you end up forgetting what the lie initially was and the truth kicks in. Vera knew all that and therefore preferred the straight road and face head on whatever awaited.  But as she stared at his peaceful face, she knew that this one time...she would have to take the twisted path. No matter how hard she tries, she can't ever bring herself to tell him the truth. It was too goddamn hard. It was her honesty and straightforwardness that Enrique admired. She has never been through heartbreak but she did got a taste of it when she confessed to Enrique the first time and he walked away. It was the shittiest she has ever felt in her entire life. And now that he came back, all by himself, willing to try for more, already making her feel like she was at the top of the world, giving her his care and affection...she can't ever muster the courage to tell him the truth and risk losing it all. Because now that she got a taste for more, something that was not just no strings attached, whim of the moment s*x, she knew it would be a thousand times worse than before if he leaves now.  She was strong. She was a very strong woman. There was barely anything or anyone that ever scared Vera Vazquez. Until now. Now there was...losing Enrique was the scariest, shittiest thing she could imagine at the moment. Yes, she was not the incurable romantic type but when you get a taste of love...you just know it's taking you to either hell or heaven. This was literally heaven but her one confession would take no time to turn it into the worse kind of hell. Vera shuddered at the thought and shook her head.  No, she can't let that happen. And anyways, what she did was before Enrique accepted her and decided to give this...whatever it was between them a try. If she hadn't done that before she wouldn't have ever done that after. This was a new start for them and what she did was a part of her past. A past where Enrique wasn't willing to be even within inches of her. A past where every words of him were a product of sympathy, every gesture just his kindness. The last thing she ever wanted was him to father their child just because he had no other option.   Plus neither she nor Enrique were or are in the position to raise a child. She was still placing the stepping stones for her career and Enrique, thanks to his bullshit family has to start over again. He literally has nothing at the moment and though it doesn't bother her a s**t, she wouldn't want a life of struggles for her child. She would want him or her to have the world and Vera was pretty sure so would have Enrique. She has to shut the coffins of the past. After all, the only person who knew about this was Vera herself.  No other being was privy to this secret of hers and as long as she doesn't blurts it out, which would need at least two crates of beer to even get her started, it was safe inside her. Yes, what she did was the worst thing she has ever done in her life but she had her reasons. They can try again for sure if things go right, can't they? When they were ready to bring another life to this world. For now, they needed to see and experience whatever it was between them. Vera sighed and defeated, snuggled back into his embrace, deciding to let the past rest for now.  When she woke again, sunlight streaming through the windows, her eyes widened to see the roaming figure in her room, wearing nothing but a towel draped around his waist. He was talking on the phone, standing by the window, his back to her. Vera sat up, wide awake now and stared at the rock hard back that made her mouth go dry as hay. He was a proper inverted triangle, with broad hefty shoulders and a comparatively tiny waist. His smooth bronze skin glistened in the water, all the taut muscles rippling as he shifted from foot to foot. His ass was just as perfect and even though she knew how he would look without that towel on, she wouldn't mind revisiting that zone again.  Such a waste of talent, she thought inwardly, eyes glued to his body. He would make a f*****g amazing model hands down. Maybe once she convinces him to join her for this trip, she could convince him to try his hand at modelling too? Hell, she would love to do a photoshoot for him. And she was sure her manager would dearly approve of him too. No sane person wouldn't.  "Yep, I will...yeah," Enrique cut the call and turned, his eyes widening as Vera stared back at him. Crap, up front was even more amazing. She knew she most probably looked like a freaking pervert but she couldn't just resist her eyes from roaming down his body. Each ab, each muscle was so perfectly defined that one could even notice them from a mile away. Of course, metaphorically. But damn...Vera's fingers crawled to run over his barrel chest and washboard abs. But she remembered and understood the word 'slow' very well. She was also amused to see a black tattoo on his peaking hipbone. Wow, he had a tattoo...on his hipbone. No other words were needed.  "Sorry," Enrique muttered, distracting her. Vera frowned and stared at him blankly.  "For what?" She demanded.  "For disturbing your sleep and for er...being far from decent," He replied. "I er...out of habit I forgot to take my clothes inside..." Vera rolled her eyes and snorted.  "Trust me Enrique, I am glad you didn't," She answered. "I have seen more than that anyway. And for what my job entails, watching naked men is as normal as brushing my teeth. Don't worry, it's a good start to my morning,"  Enrique stared open-mouthed at her before his lips twitched and he shook his head.  "You really don't filter what comes out of your mouth, do you?" He asked, amused as hell. Vera grinned and climbing down, walked over to him. She knew Enrique was the shy one here, so she needed to take the initiative before he eases up a little. She wrapped her arms around his neck and raised on her toes because despite her height, he was still taller and softly pressed her lips to his, kissing him softly. He tasted like toothpaste but he was Enrique so anything was fine with her.  "Nope," She smiled, shaking her head. "Isn't that what you like about me?"  "Precisely," Enrique nodded, smiling down at her. "But trust me, it can hit you in the gut sometimes,"  "Well, than I hope your gut is fine," Vera laughed, finally letting go of the resistance and running her fingers down his taut stomach. Oh, that felt way better than what she imagined. Enrique's eyes darkened as he stared at her blankly and Vera winked, kissing him again  before moving away.  "Would you like coffee?" She asked, pleased with herself and at his reaction to her. Even though he was a man. They would react to anything anyway.  "Oh, you can make coffee?" He taunted and Vera scowled at him.  "Ha ha ha...funny. Very funny," She grimaced, heading for the door and the scowl disappeared instantly as she heard him chuckle.  Just the presence of him makes her all giddy from inside. Like  something tickling her in the stomach. And much more but it was still early in the morning to go down that lane. This was so not like her. If she fancied a man, she usually goes to him, get down to business and never think about him ever again. She did dated, back in school and college but that was just few flings, nothing ever lasting more than fifteen days.  But this...this was very very different. It was like the feeling of being curled up inside a blanket in front of a fire place in a cold winter night. The warmth seeping through your skin slowly and leisurely. That's exactly how Enrique was seeping inside her heart, slowly and leisurely. And to be honest, he wasn't even doing much. No cheesy nonsensical pick-up lines. No perverted touches. No show-off. No lies or faking. He was just being...him. Simple, down to Earth, pure and kind. He was a diamond in the rough and Vera knew if she could just make him see what he can't see in himself, he will go far and beyond. His disgusting father, his asshole brother and at some points even Cecilia and Ivan has overshadowed him. But Vera saw in him what nobody did. His worth. He was so much more. Men like him barely exist these days. He just needed a confidence boost. And Vera knew if she can just manage to get him on the trip somehow, he will see for himself.  contd...
