Ranch del Romance
(Lucy's POV)
I whimpered as I slowly made my way up to the third floor where the old storeroom was which became my room when my father passed away. Only the candle I was holding lightening up my way as I climbed up the stairs. I have no privilege to use electricity so I must bear with the darkness.
I heaved a long deep sigh.
It's been a long day and I felt so beat up. It's anyhow like that every day. I am always the late one who's going to retire in my room after making sure that all the chores were done and is the earliest to wake up to begin working again and prepare breakfast for my stepmother and stepsister.
Just by thinking about my everyday routine, I felt like my soul is slowly leaving my body as my inner wolf puffed into the back of my head feeling depleted too.
"You alright, Sky?" I asked her mentally and all she replied was a small wail.
I felt sorry for her and myself but I know feeling miserable for our situation will only make us depressed. And I am not someone who whined and just cry in times of distress. That won't do me any good and as an Omega, I have no choice but to work as a slave so I perpetually must be strong.
Another deep sigh and I finally reached the third floor. I walked through the dark hallway and stopped at the most end. I pushed the stale door of my room and went inside. I settled the candle on top of my drawer, released a long grunt, and stretched my arms.
"Oh heck!" I muttered. My body ached everywhere. My spine and my waist were throbbing so bad. Maybe from cutting woods earlier.
Whimpering, I walked towards the window and opened the leaf. I pushed myself up, sat on the sill, and looked up at the bright moon. "Hey, Papa," I talked to my father.
No. I am not losing my mind. He may be dead already but I know he's with the Moon Goddess and watching over me.
"I survived another day without being beaten by Aunt Selene, Papa," I continued with a smile and folded my hands together on top of my lap. "And guess what!" I excitedly mumbled and even if I was not seeing own myself, I knew my eyes were beaming. "I met a guy named Cria. He's the plumber man Aunt Selene hired to fix the broken pipes today. He's tall and he's quite good-looking. He seemed like a nice man too but don't get me wrong! No, Papa! I still like the Alpha more than him. I mean he's the man of my dream and no one can replace him. However, I just think that maybe when Cria and I meet again, we can be good friends."
Yes. I want to be friends with the plumber man even if he's still suspicious to me. He doesn't look like an Omega. I have a strong intuition that he's working with the pack officers of DarkStone. Maybe he just needs money so he's working an extra job.
"Anyway, Papa," I decided to change the topic. "The mating season ball is coming." My smile widened. "I wished I could attend the ball too for I want to finally meet my mate just like the other she-wolves. I want to dance with him and make a magical night together."
And aside from that, I also want to see the Alpha again and if it's possible, dance with him too.
I giggled at my craziness.
That would be impossible but there's nothing wrong with dreaming, right?
"Alright, Papa. That's all for tonight for I am so tired and want to go the bed already." I ended the conversation and jumped off the sill. "Send my love to mom and don't get tired of watching over me."
With that, I finally walked to the worn-out cabinet at the corner of my old room and pulled out a pair of pajamas and a clean towel. I went to the small bathroom on the left side and clean myself first before going to sleep.
- TIME SKIP-
I sat on the hard mattress and yawned aloud. Dizziness is already consuming me so I blew the candle and was about to lay down when I heard a strange noise outside. That caught my attention.
"What the -?" I mumbled with a deep frown on my forehead. Instead of finally retiring to sleep, I hopped off the bed and strode towards the opened window.
Is it the chipmunk couple flirting with each other again? They're the only neighbor who sometimes bothers me.
I was almost near the window when I noticed a silhouette from the big tree across my room. I blinked for its form is far from the chipmunk couple.
Curious, I took a little more steps and my heart almost jumped out of my mouth as I almost screamed in surprise when the odd silhouette leaped from the branch of the tree and landed in front of me.
"Good evening, Miss del Romance." Cria; the plumber man from earlier appeared in my sight. In his lips a wide grin and in his left hand, a plastic with I don't know what's inside it.
My jaw dropped and my eyes enlarged as my gaze settled into him.
What the f**k!
"Cria! You, asshat!" I exclaimed as panic filled my chest and questions popped out inside of my head.
What the hell is this plumber man doing here late in the evening? I mean, for how long is the waiting in that tree? Why I didn't notice him? And how? How did he find out my room?
His grin widened as he stalked forward making me gulped hard for I suddenly felt like a big intimidating wolf is approaching me.
For a moment, another question bugged me.
'Who is this man?'
Cria stopped an inch away from me making me focused back on him as I held my breath and making me looked up for he's too freaking tall.
"I bought midnight, snacks. Want to eat with me, Miss del Romance?"
