Daniella waited impatiently for the doors of the elevator to slide open before she rushed off and headed straight down the brightly lit hallway to the ICU waiting room.  Patti was there, seated on a sterile looking sofa, here knees drawn up to her chest, her pretty eyes swollen and red rimmed.  Her normally spiky dyed hair had been flattened by nervous hands running over her head, over and over.  When she saw Daniella in the door, she leapt off the couch and launched herself at her, wrapping her arms around her neck.  Daniella wrapped her friend in her arms, and rubbed comforting circles on her back.  “Have you been able to see him yet?”   She nodded into Daniella’s shoulder and hiccupped. “Y-yeah, but just for a minute.  They- they are prepping him for an emergency surgery.”  She dug he
