Daniella drove to the fast food restaurant where Patti worked. She parked in front of the burger joint and turned up the radio to wait for Patti to finish her shift. She toyed with the silver pendant around her neck and hummed along with the tune. In her other life, she’d been so absorbed in Duke that she had left Patti high and dry. She wouldn’t make that mistake again.
