Grinning, almost like an i***t, and a blush on her cheeks, Amy let herself be let to a dark navy blue, almost black colored car. If it weren’t for the streetlight, she most probably wouldn't even have noticed the car parked outside. Shaking her head, while getting into the car, she took stock of herself. She wasn’t usually the type to be so unobservant! Her history had taught her much too well to notice EVERYTHING. She also wasn't the type to feel so giddy, but she hadn't drank THAT much, she couldn't be drunk. But then, Ethan always seemed to have had that effect on her, even as kids. That's why she could have so much fun with him when she couldn't get herself to be that way with anyone else.
The drive over to his place was is silence, but not the uncomfortable silence of people who was almost strangers. Rather it was a silence showing just how comfortable they truly where with one another, without feeling the need to fill every moment with clatter of voices. For the first time in a very long time, Amelia felt herself relax, while Ethan kept a hold on her hand the entire drive to his place.
Entering into Ethan's penthouse suite, Amelia is left speechless. She should probably have realized just how rich he was when they got into his sport's car (she will have to ask Cassy what type of car it was, she never really cared for money or cars herself), but this! A penthouse on the top of the world! Wow!
When Ethan asked her if she wanted something to drink, she just nodded. Stress had finally set in. Maybe a real drink would get her to relax. She needed time to think! Hoping she wasn't making a mistake, she has way to many of those behind her name already, she was lost in thought while just walking through the apartment, trying to take everything in and comprehend what she's seeing.
"Hey, I lost you back there. You good?" To her surprise, Ethan was standing behind her. He was right, she had been lost in memories. A fingertip brushed her cheek before tilting her jaw up so her eyes could meet his. "What's wrong?"
"It's just... I... This... Meeting you again... It's just all a little bit too much. I don’t really have words..." Feeling suddenly unsure about herself, she turned away, but he grabbed her hand, forcing her to look at him again.
A crocked smile was on his lips. "I would like to show you something, if you want?" When she nodded, he excitedly lead her to a glass patio door, which he slid open in a fast-effective movement, startling her. But she followed him out anyway.
Amelia gasped in surprise at what she saw. The patio floor was made from die granite, while the railing was painted glass, but it was the view that took her breath away. It was amazing. She felt like she could see forever. The soft town lights was around her, but further away it dwindled, and she could make out the outlines of the mountains and fields further away under the moonlight.
"Wow! This! Ethan, I don't have words, it's beautiful, so much more than beautiful."
"Yes, the view truly are beautiful." Turning to him, she saw that instead his eyes were glued to her and not the view. The intensity in his eyes made her blush and glance down to the glasses of wine in his hands. Noticing her blush he wordlessly handed her a glass before coming to o stand next to her. "I never thought I'd find you again."
There was a silence that followed his words. A silent acknowledgement of how much time have passed and how much they have missed. Finally, unable to take it anymore, she turned to him to speak, wanting to be asked to be taken home. But before she could utter the thoughts in her head, his mouth crashed into hers.
The kiss was so much more than she had expected and also so much less. She expected ruthless, hard, demanding, instead it was kindness, gentle, claiming but filled with something left unsaid. When they finally broke apart, Amy was breathing fast and would have stumbled if Ethan's almost abnormally fast movement, didn't catch her, holding her steady. However, where he was touching her, his skin, though icy-cold to the touch, felt like it was burning right through her!
With an apologetic smile, he removed his hand from her elbow. "I'm sorry Amelia. Now I must seem such a fool. I promise I did not just bring you here for s****l favors. Rather, let me show you to the spare bedroom. We can talk again in the morning once you've rested!"
They walked in silence through the parlor and past a kitchen before reaching a small passage leading to the bedrooms. "This is the spare bathroom and across from it is the second and third bedrooms. At the end there, is my bedroom. I have my own separate bathroom." Ethan's voice seemed almost formal, suddenly strange even to Amelia's ears.
Gesturing to the bathroom door, she spoke softly. “Could I have a moment?”
Ethan seemed surprised for a moment, then almost uncomfortable as he spoke again. “Of course. I will wait.”
Struggling inside, Amelia tried to calm her suddenly perspiration face and while collecting herself and regaining her breath. When she came out a little later, Ethan was standing so still that he might as well had been carved from stone. For a little while she just stood, watching him, taking in his silhouette and trying to comprehend the fact that he truly was there!
Finally, she was only able to nod, which he seemed to accept, leading her further down the passage. He opened the second door on the right, leading her into a room that was a soft peace color, decorate with white flowers and a white comforter was on the bed and a soft netting covered the entire bed, making it look as if it was somewhere between the clouds. Everything else was decorated in soft peach or white, everything that was, except the ceiling that was a soft baby blue color.
Swallowing hard, Amelia turned to him. "Ethan, it's so beautiful, How...?"
"Somehow, somewhere, I never gave up hope. You told me back all those years ago you wanted a bed that brought you into the sky's to make you feel like you can fly, well, when I bought this suite, I had this room decorated like this. I hoped..."
"Ethan, what if I told you that tonight, I don't want to sleep alone?"
Ethan's face seemed to grow taught at her words, and his lips tightened a fraction. "Amelia..."
"Please Ethan! I wouldn't have come if I didn't realize..."
"Amelia, you have to know! You're asking the impossible of me! If I spent a night with you... Amelia, I don't know if I will be able to stop myself. You don’t know or understand what you’re asking of me."
"And if I don't care?"
"Amelia..." Ethan's hands was shaking as he slowly pulled her to him. His eyes seemed to be searching hers, looking for something unspoken. Then, finally unable to stop himself, his lips once again met hers, whispering in between kisses. "I think it would be best for us to, in that case, move this to my room."
