Jobey and I walk outside hand in hand. Everyone is gathered around a small fire, logs are laid out for people to sit. Music is playing and there are some students dancing.
“How come the teachers don’t stop all of this?” I ask Jobey as we spot the others ahead.
“They leave us to it so long as no one gets to out of hand. It’s their way of showing us they trust us I guess.” He shrugs.
As we approach the others I see Matt nudge Justin who then turns to look at us. Justin’s eyes immediately focus on our intertwined hands. I feel a little self conscious but then Jobey starts to talk and pulls my focus away.
“How are you finding being away from your parents?”
I scoff at the question, “I barely saw them anyway. I was practically raised by my nanny, Petra. Her I miss.”
He smiles down at me, “anyone else you miss back home?”
“Is that your way of asking if I have a boyfriend back home?” I laugh. “It’s abit late if so, considering you already kissed me.”
“Oh s**t,” he laughs. “I probably should’ve checked first.”
“Where did you go?” Megan asks as we finally reach them.
“I went to take the pizza boxes out and bumped into Jobey,” I gesture to him.
“Hey Jobey,” Becka smiles politely.
Justin steps forward, “can I talk to you a minute?” He gestures behind Jobey.
“Sure,” Jobey lets my hand go and they both walk away.
Becka and Megan pull me over to dance with them. Matt passes me a drink. I can’t help but let my gaze wander toward Jobey and Justin. The conversation seems tense and Jobey runs his hand through his hair. He then shakes his head and looks at the floor before tapping Justin on the shoulder and walking away. I watch as he goes to sit with his own friends. Justin makes his way back to us and looks upset.
“Hey,” I touch his arm as he reaches us. “You okay?”
“Yeah,” he takes a drink from Matt before swigging it back.
“Come dance then,” I pull on his arm and he finally starts to smile.
We all dance in our small group and enjoy the music for a while.
I pull my phone out and tell them all to squish in for a selfie. After taking it i send the photo to Jack. His response is almost immediate.
Jack: Ooo! Who is the delish to your left?
He is referring to Justin. I shake my head and put the phone away without responding. I turn back to my friends and Justin is staring at me intently. I step forward and drape my hands behind his neck to dance. His hands land on my hips and we dance for a while.
The music cuts off and we all look to the fire pit.
“Gather round everyone, it’s time for truth or dare.” A third year laughs and everyone starts moving closer. “It is tradition for everyone at this party to do either one truth or one dare.”
The third years start and there are some really random dares going on. Megan gets picked next.
“Truth,” Megan says confidently.
“How many people have you had s*x with?” The previous guy asks.
“Three,” Megan snorts like the question was stupid. “Justin you’re up.”
“Erm, dare.”
Megan smirks, “kiss someone you fancy.”
Justin hesitates a moment before pulling me into a kiss. f**k.
I have kissed both brothers in the last few hours.
He pulls back and smiles at me softly. My eyes immediately flit to Jobey who is watching the kiss intently.
Justin picks Matt who then picks me. Great.
“Truth,” I try to sound confident like Megan.
“Before Justin here, who was the last person you kissed?” Matt says suggestively. He knows.
I hesitate and run my hand down my face. “Jobey.”
There is an echo of whispers from everyone around us. I cannot bring myself to make eye contact with either Justin or Jobey now.
“Becka is next,” I announce quickly and rush to get the lime light off me.
The game goes on for a while before getting to Jobey.
“I will do a dare,” Jobey says with head hanging low.
The girl giving the dare is smirking. “I dare you to reenact your kiss with Ally.”
