Ch. 7

"I'll see you tomorrow, Harry," Nya said, standing on her porch as Harry headed for his vehicle. He waved a hand, and soon, his car drove away and he disappeared. Their plan had worked, but she was unsure what she would tell her mother if she ever ended up finding out. And unfortunately, she did not have enough time to figure it out since the moment she closed the door, she heard rushing footsteps descending the stairs and her mother angrily approached her, "So you're having s*x with boys in your room now?" "Mell," Luke followed behind her a second later, "That's not what I said." "How come you didn't tell me you two were dating?" Mell ignored him, folding her arms tightly and narrowing her eyes at Nya. Nya was startled; Luke hadn't even waited a day to tell her about Harry, and when she glanced towards him, he winked. "Hey!" her mother snarled. "Eyes here, doesn't matter if he told me, I should've known." "I didn't mean to snitch on you Nya, I thought she already knew—" "Luke, you're interfering with my parenting, go upstairs." Luke faked a long sigh, and backed away from them, apologetically saying, "I didn't know she would react like this Nya, I'm sorry—" "Lucas!" "Okay, I'm upstairs," he said rapidly, returning upstairs and heading for her bedroom. When she heard the door clack, she returned her sharp eyes to Nya, who was growing irritated as well. "It's not what you think mom—" "So Luke didn't catch you making out on the bed?" Nya inhaled sharply, "Y-Yes he did, but—" "And if he hadn't walked in, who knows what you both would've done. You know my rules about boyfriends in the house, let alone boyfriends, period. Only if you let me know, and when they're home, the door is always open." A distressed breath escaped Nya's lips, and she paused for a moment, hearing the sharp breath through the gritted teeth of her mother. "Mom, let me explain—" "Okay, explain that then Nya, or is not apparent through what was seen?" No, it was not. But could she really tell her mother Harry was her fake boyfriend so she could avoid being around Luke, who kissed her multiple times? To which she actually liked? She wasn't doing anything wrong by attempting to avoid Lucas, and he was manipulative, using the situation and getting her in trouble, for what reason she was unsure. Not being able to tell that to her mother tormented her, and she sighed, noticing her eyes were growing watery as she lied, "I've only been dating Harry for a few weeks; I was going to tell you when—" "You could've told me the moment it started, that's all I've ever asked for and as a mother, I consider that reasonable. I trusted that you two were only friends from childhood, but you used that against me to get him in your bedroom with close doors alone." Nya sighed, trying to not to cry but her voice grew shaky, "It wasn't like that mom." "Give me your phone." "Mom—!" "For a month. No phone, no laptop, no computer, just television. No extracurricular activities, no going out with your friends, none of that." Nya gasped in shock, "A whole month?" "You broke my trust, now hand it over." Grumbling curses under her breath and insulting Luke in her mind, she reached inside her pocket and handed over her cellphone. Then, her mother followed her into her bedroom and Nya handed her her laptop. "I'm disappointed in you—Harry is not allowed to come over until I say otherwise." "Not even after a month?" "Not even!" She exclaimed and slammed the door shut.
