Nya was a bit drunk, but she had met many people that she could potentially become a friendship.
Phillip, had already graduated college and was a bit tipsy, had introduced himself to Nya and proclaimed her to be his long lost love. It turned out he was joking, but did say she was quite attractive and had a respectful conversation with her, which ended up with her asking for his number.
Melissa, had also graduated college and was engaged as well. She was a redhead that had an abundance of freckles to which Nya complained about her own and received a few motivational speeches. She invited Nya to her home for the weekend, and Nya had accepted, although it may have been the drunken mind responding.
Eric, a bit older than the others, but he was Luke's cousin. He was divorced, but made no advances towards Nya. Rather he had a regular conversation with her, and offered her a drink, to which she respectfully declined. She was already stumbling over the place.
Finally, Diva, which was her actual name. She was gorgeous, and was twenty-two years of age. Still in college, in the midst of graduating, Diva was settled to become an oncologist. Her story was quite saddening, and Nya began crying when she heard it, but they promised one another to stay in touch.
Soon enough, Nya found herself stumbling outside from the boat in order to puke into the water. It had gotten dark, and she had no idea where her mother had gone. Whoever she asked said that she saw her exiting with Luke, therefore she assumed she had left without her.
It had been amusing when the alcohol had overwhelmed her system, but she was settled on heading home at this point. Leaning over the railing of the shore, she leaned too far forward that she felt her entire begin falling forward, except a palm grabbing the back of her dress and pulled her back.
Exhaling sharply, she stumbled backwards and fell into someone's chest.
"Are you alright?"
Luke's voice immediately caused her entire body to stiffen, and she pulled apart from him, turning around to find him with a raised eyebrow. His entire face was blurred, but she could see the bottle of beer in his palm, "You seem way too drunk; Nya, was it?"
"Where's my mother?" was the first thing she thought, lifting the bottom of her dress to wipe her mouth and revealing her thin panties. It seemed like the most logical idea at the time, without realizing that Luke's eyes lowered for a few seconds until the dress returned to its appropriate spot.
Luke shrugged his shoulders, "We left the party for a bit and just got back; she must be at the boat now. I came here for some fresh air."
Nya noticed that his hair was messy and he had traces of lipstick left on his lips. That only caused her to lean over the railings again and barf even more. Luke rapidly approached her, attempting to grab hold of her hair, but Nya swung her arm across, "Don't touch me."
"I'm not, I'm just holding your hair back so that you can puke without getting it in your hair," he seemed offended, which caused Nya to refrain from responding and instead allow him to grab her hair.
After a short moment, he said, "Lavender shampoo?"
She nodded her head, and he said, "I only recognize the smell since I use the same scent. Here, smell my hair."
He leaned forward towards her, still holding her hair, and she inhaled sharply when her nose reached his hair; it really did smell like lavender.
She smiled, "It's my favorite one."
He nodded his head and then released her hair, "How are you feeling?"
"Sick and tired, but it'll pass."
"I can drive you home if you'd like?" When her eyes diverted to his beer can in his palm, he shook his head, "I only had one the whole night. I'm not drunk, I promise."
"How can I trust that when I don't even know you?"
He stepped forward, "Then how about you get to know me?"
"I'm going to be forced to anyway," she shrugged her shoulders. "I'll ride home with you."
He grinned, and she noticed he had dimples piercing his cheeks, "Get on my back, it'll be faster this way so that you don't have to get even more dizzy."
She accepted and as he turned around, she climbed on his back. She felt his rough palms gripping her thighs and fell flustered, feeling guilty for having her hormones begin racing from the thought of her mother's boyfriend. He was insanely attractive, but her mother really loved him, and that was something she would never do to her mother.
Luke placed her in the passenger seat of his vehicle, and left the parking lot.
During the drive, they needed to stop a few times since Nya felt nauseous, and would throw up at the side of the road. She did notice that he began massaging her back whenever she did, holding her hair back and whispering that she would be alright.
However, their conversation was interesting enough to hold her awake.
"Where did you meet my mother?"
"I actually met her when she was still with her ex-husband," he admitted, "but we never did anything since I don't go for married women. I am co-owner of a company, so I had a meeting near your hometown, and your mother was the secretary of the building where the meeting was to be held."
Nya laughed, "You thought she was cute?"
"Long hair, green eyes, amazing body, what else sounds perfect to you?"
"Ew, you're still talking about my mother by the way."
He chuckled softly, "I'm sorry. Anyhow, I asked for her number and she gave it to me. Once I texted her, she told me she was married and our contact stopped there. It was only recently that I called her and asked how she was doing, and she told me her and her husband had gotten a divorce, so that's basically how our relationship started."
Nya furrowed her brows, "You guys have only been together for like three months? Why ask for marriage now?"
"It doesn't matter whether it's 3 months or 3 years. When it's your soulmate, you just know," that comment made Nya feel like barfing again, and he stopped the car to the side for a few minutes as she gagged.
They arrived to the home, and Nya climbed on his back again. When they reached inside, Nya was barely able to keep her eyes open, and he walked her up the stairs to her bedroom, which she guided him in front of a wall a few times. When they reached her bedroom, Luke laid her on her bed, and smiled at how she wrapped her arms around her pillow and did not even get underneath the blanket.
He left to the kitchen and grabbed a glass of water, along with a trash can where she could puke. He had been in the home a few times prior, to which her mother purposely made certain Nya was never home. Hence why he always stopped a few seconds and observed the picture of young Nya and Mell at the park. She was adorable, sitting on her mother's lap with her arms in the air; Luke wondered how she was back then.
When he returned to her bedroom, Nya was startled and sat up quickly, her eyes widening in fear until she realized it was only Luke. "You scared me," she mumbled, groaning and shifting in her bed.
Luke smiled, sitting at the edge of her bed, "Can you drink this glass of water for me? It'll help you not get a hangover in the morning."
"It'll make me puke."
"I promise it won't."
Nya was tired and did not want to argue. She sat upwards drowsily, and reached for the glass of water in his palm. She drank half, and then paused for a moment before drinking a bit more but not finishing the rest of it.
"Finish it."
"You can leave now," she grumbled, laying back on her bed.
Luke furrowed his brows, "Finish the glass of water."
"I'm tired."
Her eyes were closed, and she heard shuffling for a few seconds before suddenly feeling warm lips pressed against hers. She was shocked at first, until a wave of water was pressured down her throat to the point she thought she was drowning, and she was forced to swallow it. When she was able to breathe again, her eyes widened in horror as she watched Luke wipe the end of his mouth and grimaced, "I forgot you puked, now I feel gross."
"You kissed me..." she breathed quietly, Luke's blurred figure staring back at her.
She felt his palm on the side of her waist and he whispered, "I was helping you drink your water."
"You didn't have to kiss—"
"So you didn't like it?" Her entire face fell red, and she turned away from him. She felt his fingers reach for her chin and pull her face back forward to meet his gaze, "Tell me you didn't like it."
"I did like it," she mumbled, his rough palms gripping her waist, causing her drunken hormone to race.
Luke smirked, leaned forward again and placed his lips on hers, now feeling her sloppy rhythm harmonize with his own, and he gripped her jaw tightly. Nya reached for his hair, and moaned when she felt his teeth bite down on her bottom lip.
When his cellphone began ringing in his pocket, Luke pulled apart, his face still near Nya's as he reached for it and checked the caller ID. He cursed under his breath before pressing accept and brought the phone to his ear, "Yes?"
"Where are you?" said Mell.
Luke sighed, "I brought Nya back home."
Mell was furious, "Why were you alone with my daughter?"
"Relax, I just brought her home Mell. I'll be back soon."
"Why didn't you tell me before you left? I could have brought her back."
"Babe, I wanted you to stay the night. Besides, it only gave us a bit of bonding time. She was drunk anyway, puking over the railing when I found her on shore."
He heard a sharp inhale, "Is she alright?"
"Yes, she's sleeping," he said, staring into Nya's wide awake eyes as he signaled for her to keep quiet.
Mell sent trembling fingers through her hair, "I'm a bit worried."
"I'm just about to leave. Do you need anything from your house?"
"No, but...are you sure she's alright?"
Luke smiled, as he placed his finger on Nya's lips, noticing that they were growing red and a bit swollen, "Yes, she's perfectly fine."
