CHAPTER 7 – AVERLY’S POV – BALL

I was so excited I could literally pee, could life get any more perfect!

Aiden was ours, we didn’t have to pretend we didn’t love him anymore, we didn’t have to pretend we loved each other more than siblings and I no longer had to hear women in the clan talking about how they were going to marry my mate, I couldn’t wait to see all their faces when they found out he was ours.

I hugged his arm tightly and took a deep breath of his delicious woodsy scent, Casey and I spoke about Aiden’s scent a few years and were shocked to learn that he smelt different to each of us.

For me he smelt like nature, the woods and flowers but to Casey he smelt like a summer storm, I made a mental note to ask him what we smelt like as the guards pushed open the ball rooms thick wooden doors and the music from inside came drifting out.

I squealed excitedly and looked up at Aiden who smirked down at me but then I looked at Casey who shook her head at me in amusement and rolled her eyes so I stuck my tongue out at her and giggled.

‘My sunshine’ Aiden said lovingly and kissed me on the cheek

I felt my cheeks redden ‘If I’m dreaming, do not wake me up’

‘I second that’ Aiden said sweetly

‘I could smother you both with a pillow and you won’t ever have to wake up at all’ Casey commented with a smirk

‘Shut up’ I giggled and pushed her ‘Don’t pretend like you’re not jumping for joy on this inside, you would have waited until we died of old age before you admitted we were mates, you’re both lucky you have me, now we get to be happy’

‘Lucky is one word for it’ Casey commented as we continued to walk down the hall and into the ballroom entry way where an announcer was waiting.

He bowed to Aiden before turning to the second door in front of us

‘Announcing his royal highness Aiden Walker and Celestials Averly and Casidy’

We walked through the second door and into the huge golden and white marble ball room filled with all the most influential and important leaders in our clan.

I stood up straighter and looked at my gorgeous sister who never disappointed, she was looking annoyed and uncomfortable but it always made me smile, she was literally the most beautiful girl in the thunder but she liked to hide herself in the background.

Everyone cheered as Aiden walked in and music began to play again

‘Happy birthday!’ Several people shouted

‘Happy birthday your majesty’

‘Congratulations on your 300th birthday’

‘Thank you everyone’ Aiden held up his hand to silence everyone and waved at one of the waiter to bring the drinks tray she was holding ‘I appreciate you all coming, I am very blessed’

He looked at us and I smiled eagerly, gosh he was hot, I wish he’d agreed to skip the ball and mate

‘Actually’ He continued and took a champagne glass from one of the waiters and passed one to both myself and Casey ‘I am beyond blessed, for many years now I have kept a secret from the clan but this evening I am extremely pleased that I can now informed you all that Ladies Ava and Casey are not just our beloved celestials but they are also my mates and your future Queens’

The crowd looked stunned and several of the women looked murderous, ahh, yes, my revenge was finally complete, that’s what they get for making me listen to their various s*x stories about my mate all these years.

‘So please everyone raise your glasses’ He said louder ‘And drink to future Queens, cheers’

‘Cheers!’ Everyone echoed and took a sip of their drinks

Much to Casey’s horror, we got bombarded by the party members for the next hour, wanting to discuss this new situation, we kept getting pulled into hugs and many of the men would slap Aiden on the back and congratulate him.

After yet another excited conversation with one of the elders, I turned around to see that Casey had vanished but Aiden was talking Lord Jerome, he was on the council and was the keeper of all our laws and traditions and was responsible for making sure they were up held, even by the King, perhaps Aiden was talking to him about this bizarre virgin exanimation.

I hoped so.. I wasn’t looking forward to that but anything that got me closer to being with my mate was something I was willing to do, Casey on the other hand, she was going to take some convincing, I’d have to use all of my charms to convince her

‘Where has she gotten to?’ I wondered and followed after her scent.

I found her on the huge balcony that overlooked the gardens and there was a cool breeze slowing all around her, ruffling her dress and picking up her hair.

She always managed to find a wind to play in, I watched as she reached out and the wind picked up and spun around her hand in a tiny twister before she closed her hand and sighed as the twister vanished

I knew she wished she could travel with the wind instead of being trapped here, she used to talk about running away everyday until her powers began but I knew she still felt the longing to go.

I never admitted it to her but it really terrified me that one day she would reach her limit and I’d wake up to find her gone

The wind blew her hair around her face again and she giggled and pushed her hair back behind her shoulder.

I cleared my throat and she jumped a little and spun around to see me

‘If you’d put your hair up once and a while it wouldn’t get ruffled and knotted in the wind’

She smiled and lent her back against the railing and brushed her hair back again ‘I like it getting blown around by the wind’

I walked over to her and snaked my arms around her waist but she tensed and looked at the door.

‘Ava’ She said quietly ‘Don’t’

‘Why?’ I smirked and lent up, so we were the same height, it wasn’t fair that she was taller ‘Mate knows now, he won’t care’

Before she could stop me, I quickly lent forward and kissed her, I got so caught up in the kiss soft lips that I didn’t realize we weren’t alone until I heard the balcony doors close.

We gasped and broke apart but I relaxed when I saw Aiden who was looking at us with dark eyes, showing us that his dragon half was taking control, he was either angry or turned on

‘Sorry’ Casey said and looked down

‘Who told you to stop?’ He asked and came over to us 'Its my turn now'

Casey blushed bright red and looked up at him again in surprise, but I was excited

‘No’ I teased ‘You turned down a night with us, so you don’t’

Before I could finish he grabbed my face and kissed me passionately until I was gasping for air.

I was breathing when he released me and looked over at Casey but when he reached over and touched her cheek and lent in she pulled away

‘So, you’ll kiss Ava but you still won’t kiss me?’ He asked, he tried to sound casual but I could tell he was hurt ‘I will win your heart Casey, if it’s the last thing I do’

I wanted to tell him that he already had her heart, she was just scared to get hurt, she believed that stupid vision which wasn’t even complete, over her own feelings, she knew how he truly felt about us, how could she doubt it.

I wanted to comfort Aiden and I was thrilled when I remembered I was allowed to touch him now so I put my arms around his waist and hugged him and quickly pulled Casey closer so we were both up against his chest.

Aiden wound his arms around us and he pressed his face into Casey’s hair and took a deep breath..

‘Don’t worry’ I told him ‘She’ll come around’

‘Don’t talk about me like I’m not here’ She complained and I giggled and kissed her nose playfully

‘So why did you sneak out here?’ He asked curiously

‘Casey vanished, so I came to find her’

‘Everyone was all over me’ She grumbled ‘I needed some air’

Aiden laughed and kissed the top of her head ‘Things will settle down soon’ He told us ‘They’re just excited, you’re the first Queens since my mother left over a hundred years ago’

‘Will your parents return for the wedding?’ I asked

I’d never met his parents, most Kings only ruled for two to three hundred years until the heir takes over and once Aiden took the throne they decided the spend their last few hundred years traveling through the dimensions and exploring and hadn’t returned since.

Because it took so long for Aiden to find his mate, he would still have to rule for at least another hundred years before our son was old enough to take over, it was a crazy thought, one day soon I’d have a child of my own, I couldn’t wait, all I’d ever wanted was to be a mother.

‘Yes’ He responded happily ‘I will contact them and let them know things are official, they know you’re my mates and have always been so eager to meet you but my mother is terrible at keeping secrets so I wouldn’t let her meet you until you knew the truth, there’s no way she wouldn’t have told you’

‘What if she doesn’t like us?’ Casey asked

Aiden laughed again and lent back ‘Casey that’s not even possible’ He told us ‘The two of you are amazing’

‘You only think that because we’re mates’ She told him and moved out of the hug

‘Don’t be silly Cas’ I rolled my eyes ‘We’re fabulous, they’ll love us’

‘Yes they will’ Aiden smiled and kissed my cheek ‘Alright, back to the party’

Casey groaned and turned back to the party ‘I could have been mated to a hermit but no, I get mated to a King who’s always surrounded by adoring fans and a twin who lives for large crowds’

I giggled and slapped her butt before hugging her arm and stopping her from moving

‘We’re good for you’ I told her ‘You spend to much time alone, oh and Aiden, happy birthday’ I added and looked at Aiden for a second before gently grabbing Caseys face in and kissing her deeply, making sure to moan and look at our mate who was looking at us with such longing and desire I was surprised he kept himself back

‘Oh god’ He groaned ‘I need to speak with Jerome again, I want the wedding sped up as much as possible’

I giggled and ran my hands up his chest ‘I’m free tomorrow, what are you up to?’

‘Are you trying to kill me Ava?’ He asked me and removed my hands

‘I’d like to do something to you your majesty but not kill you’

Aiden laughed again, I loved that sound

‘Get your gorgeous self back into the ball’

‘Can we dance?’

‘If you wish’ He agreed and I smiled and took his hand ‘You too Casey’

Casey groaned again ‘If I have to’

‘You do’ I told her and started pulling Aiden back inside with Casey slowly lagging behind.

We got strange looks as we re-entered the ballroom but I didn’t mind, I loved seeing Selene’s face the most, she’d been sour since she found out Aiden belonged to me and Cas.

Aiden began to pull me towards the dance floor and ordered for another song to start before he pulled me into his arms and we began to dance alongside the other couples.

I was smiling ear to ear by the time the song ended which didn’t go away because I got him for the next three dances, Casey had sneakily started up conversations away from the dance area just to get out of dancing but after our fourth dance, Aiden kissed me hands and told me he had to dance with Casey now.

I giggled knowing she’d pout the entire time and went to get a drink, my twin didn’t disappoint, when I turned around from the waiter, I saw Aiden pulling Casey towards the dance floor with her complaining.

‘But I was talking with Elder Corey’ She was saying

‘You can speak with him later’ Aiden told her calmly and I laughed again.

It wasn’t as if my sister didn’t know how to dance, she was better then I was and much more graceful but she hated being in the center of attention.

‘Lady Averly’ One of the Elders came over to me and bowed

‘Good evening Elder Richard, how are you?’

‘I’m very well’ He smiled down at me.

Elder Richard was nearly as tall as Aiden and I had to crane my neck to look up at him, being short was so burdensome sometimes.

‘May I have this next dance my lady?’

‘Oh’ I didn’t know what to say, before admitting to Aiden that we knew he was our mate I would have said yes but I didn’t know if he would get upset if I danced with other men ‘Um’

‘Step on her feet and there will be consequences’ Aiden called out before I could respond, and Elder Richard laughed.

‘I wouldn’t dream of it your majesty’ He said, before offering me his hand and guiding me towards the dance floor.

The music sprang to life once more and we all began to dance, for the next hour we continued to dance, each taking turns with Aiden, though Casey kept making excuses as to why I could have him all to myself but I didn’t think it was fare, despite her objections, I knew she wanted to be close to him just as much as I did.

We paused so Aiden could cut his cake and receive gifts from all the guests which the servants were tasked with taking to his wing for him to open at his own leisure tomorrow.

Casey and I were taking a break from dancing and talking with a few of the women, while Aiden spoke with Beta Ryker but when we heard Selene ask Aiden to dance Casey passed me her glass and quickly walked over to him.

I suppressed a smile, her jealously was her greatest weakness but it would definitely be Aidens greatest asset to win her over.

‘It would be my’ Aiden was responding but Casidy cut him off

‘No’ Casey answered before Aiden could say anything else and all three of them looked at her ‘I want to dance again’

Aiden looked confused but pleased by this new development but happily took Casey’s hand.

He twirled her playfully as they walked away from a very upset-looking Selene and I smiled again and took a sip of my drink.

To make sure Selene never got a chance to dance with our mate, I took over for the next dance and winked at Casey in solidarity before taking Aiden’s hands.

‘Are you having fun?’ I asked him as he gently moved me around the room in time with the new song.

‘This is the best birthday I’ve ever had’ He told me and kissed my throat, making me shiver.

‘It could be better’ I commented and pressed against him but he laughed and shook his head

‘Don’t torture me’ He growled softly into my ear ‘It’s hard enough not to touch you and Casey, you really don’t understand how long I’ve actually waited for the two of you, you could try to make it easier for me’

‘Where’s the fun in that?’ I smirked ‘It’s not fare, no other mates have to wait’

‘As I’ve said, we’re not normal mates’

‘What would have happened if a King found his mate but she wasn’t a virgin?’ I asked curiously ‘Would she still have to go through the stupid exam’

‘We shouldn’t speak about this in public’ He warned and lowered his voice ‘It’s inappropriate, tomorrow at dinner we can get everything out in the open but as far as I remember from our histories, all the mates have been virgins so it’s never been an issue’

The song finished and Aiden spun me out and back in playfully, making me giggle as he wound his arms around me from behind and kissed my cheek.

‘I still can’t believe you’re in my arms right now’ He said happily as a new song started up ‘I’ve dreamed about this moment for years and now that you’re mine, I’ll never let you go Averly, you’re my sunshine, you light up everything and everyone around you, I was in complete darkness without you’

I blushed and turned in his arms and wrapped mine around his neck ‘Who knew you were this romantic’

He smiled and kissed me softly ‘I’m offended’ He laughed ‘I am always a romantic’

‘Yes and we can ask every other women you’ve ever been with to back you up’ Casey said behind us and we turned around.

‘Casidy, I already told you how I felt about the other women’ Aiden said to her, guilt thick in his tone

‘I’m tired’ She said, ignoring his comment and I glared at her ‘I’d like to leave now’

I had to admit, I was very tired myself, all of this dancing had worn me out but I didn’t want to go home yet, I wanted to stay with our mate as long as possible.

‘No, Casey, stay a little longer’ I pleaded ‘I don’t want to leave yet’

‘So stay’ She shrugged and kissed my cheek before looking up at Aiden ‘Goodnight, I hope you had a great birthday’

‘Casey wait’ He said and grabbed her wrist as she turned to leave ‘It’s late, I’m not letting you walk back alone’

‘I’m not alone’ She answered in confusion ‘I have a guard’

Aiden looked at the guard but shook his head ‘No, I will walk you back, it’s late and I’m sure you could both use some rest’

Together the three of us and our two guards left the party, I quickly hugged Aidens arm again but Casey walked a little ahead of us until our mate reached out and took her hand and pulled her back closer to us.. Why couldn’t she understand that he longed to be with us as much as we wanted to be with him.

‘So, I will make sure I’m free tomorrow evening, so we can spend the whole night together’

‘The whole night?’ I asked eagerly, making him laugh

‘You don’t give up do you?’

‘Not really’ Casey commented and I laughed

‘Well it’s not fare’ I pointed out grumpily ‘I waited so long, I begged Casey every day to tell you the truth but she kept refusing and now you know and we still have to wait’

‘Try waiting 17 years’ He commented

‘I still can’t believe you kept it to yourself all these years’ Casey complained but there was humor in her voice ‘And you never let us get away with anything, I lost track of the times you and nanny punished me for something’

‘It wasn’t my fault you were so wilful’ He joked and kissed her hand ‘I couldn’t just let you run wild’

‘Perhaps’ She pouted ‘But you could have let me get away with a few things, a good mate would have’

‘Really’ He smiled ‘My apologies my lady, I will have to make it up to you’

‘Yes you will’ She told him

Aiden laughed and kissed her hand again ‘Now, as I was saying’ He smirked at me ‘We will spend the evening together to talk, there’s a lot we need to discuss’

‘Okay’ Casey nodded

‘I can’t wait to soak my feet’ I murmured as she began walking down a set of stairs ‘I haven’t danced so much’

‘I’ve never seen either of you want to dance so much’ Aiden commented and Casey and I looked at each other ‘Especially you Casey, was it just because it was my birthday or because we’re finally mates’

‘Both’ I told him but then I decided to admit the main reason ‘Well… that and we didn’t want you to dance with anyone else’

‘Especially Selene’ Casidy said angrily

Aiden tensed and looked from me to Casey again ‘What’s going on?’

‘We’ve never liked you dancing with other women’

‘It was my duty’ He answered ‘I never enjoyed it, but I will try to minimize it in the future if it bothers the two of you but what is wrong with Selene specifically? I thought you were all friends?’

Casey laughed angrily ‘I will never be friends with that b*tch’

‘Casidy’ Aiden paused as we were passing one of the smaller gardens near our wing ‘What has gotten into you, why would you call her that, Selene is such a lovely young lady, a little spoiled perhaps but she doesn’t deserve such harsh words’

‘Of course you’d defend her’ She snapped and ripped her hand from his

‘What does that mean?’

‘Nothing’ She snapped ‘I apologize for my behavior. Could we please go now?’

My heart broke, I hated seeing Casey is so much pain, everything inside of me knew that her vision was wrong and yet, she had never been wrong before, I didn’t know what to think or believe, but even if her vision was wrong, I still hated Selene

‘Casidy tell me what you meant’ Aiden wasn’t letting it go, and I wanted to tell him the truth, but I knew Casey wasn’t ready and besides, it was her vision, it wasn’t my place ‘Why wouldn’t I defend her, why don’t you like Selene, did you girls have a falling out’

‘You’d have to have a falling in for a falling out to happen’ She snapped ‘I don’t want to talk about her anymore and we don’t want you dancing with her at all and if you actually cared about us you’d agree’

‘If it truly bothers you then of course I will agree’ He said and reached out to touch her cheek but she stepped away from him ‘But I want to know what happened between you’

‘I want to go home’ Was all Casey said and crossed her arms

Aiden looked at her in confusion ‘Do you feel the same way about Selene?’

‘Yes’ I admitted ‘And even if I didn’t I’d still support Casey’

‘I see’ He frowned at us as he thought things over ‘One day I would like to know what happened between the three of you to cause you to hate her so much, but I understand we need to get to know each other a different level now before you share things with me, but please try to understand that I’m no longer just your King, I’m now your mate and you can tell me anything and I hope you will’

‘We’ll try, won’t we Cas?’ I asked her

She gave a huff and looked away from him before she started marching off ahead of us.

Aiden exhaled and looked after her with longing so I took his hand in comfort.

‘I knew she was pushing me away all of these years but I never realized she hated me so much’

‘She doesn’t hate you’

‘I wish she’d tell me what she saw in her vision that made her think I’d be disloyal, because I swear Ava, I’d never betray either of you’ He commented sadly ‘Will you tell me?’

I shook my head ‘It’s not my place’

‘But do you believe this vision too?’

‘I..’ I hesitated ‘I don’t know, Casey’s never been wrong but I just… I don’t think you’d ever do that’

‘I wouldn’t’

‘I hope not’ I admitted ‘Because I know Casey would never forgive you and it would destroy me, I love you so much Aiden’

‘I love you too Averly’ He paused and pulled me into his arms and kissed me softly before we continued walking in silence, I knew Aiden was wondering what Casey’s vision was about or perhaps why we hated Selene, little did he know that the two things were related.

After we walked into our wing past our guards Aiden opened our bedroom door just as Casey slammed the bathroom door closed, causing Aiden to sigh.

‘Good night Casey’ He called out ‘I love you’

She didn’t respond though

‘I don’t want you to go’ I pouted and took both of his hands in mind ‘Can’t you stay?’

‘Ava we’ve been over this’

‘I didn’t mean it like that’ I lied, I had hoped to seduce him ‘We can just sleep, you can have my bed and I’ll sleep with Casey’

‘You just don’t get it’ He smirked ‘There is no way I could sleep in the same room with you and Casey and not try anything’

‘Even more reason for you to stay’

Aiden growled and pulled me into his arms ‘Soon Ava dear’ He said eagerly ‘And I will make you pay for all this torture today, you will be begging me to let you rest’

‘Challenge accepted’ I giggled and lent up on my tiptoes to press my lips to his.

I couldn’t believe how happy I was, I never wanted to stop kissing him, I never wanted this moment to end but finally he pulled back

‘Sleep well my sunshine’ He smiled and kissed me softly once more before letting him go, he looked at the bathroom door for second.

‘You could come join us’ I smirked

Aidens eyes darkened but he growled playfully ‘Go to bed’

I pouted as he walked away but finally the door closed and I went to confront my infuriating twin.
