CHAPTER 5 – CASIDY’S POV – MATES

'Alright girls' Nanny Colleen called out to us from inside our bathroom 'The baths ready, come and wash up for the ball'

'Ahhh!' My sister squealed excitedly and stood up.

She'd been playing with her plants on the balcony while I painted the sunset.

I didn't want to go to the ball, I was sick of seeing all the women fall all over themselves when the King was around.

Today was officially his 300th birthday so a huge ball was being thrown in his honor and unlike me, Ava was ecstatic to attend.

She loved gowns and glistening jewels and she even loved socializing with the clan.

Me on the other hand, I hated it all, having to dress up, the forced conversation with clan members wanting to hear how our training was going and the dancing, oh how I detested the dancing.

I only ever did it to anger the King, he would often dance with women from the court, Ava would always point out that it was his duty but I knew better, I'd seen it in visions, he'd slept with a third of them so I thought a little pay back was in order and would say yes to any man who asked me onto the dance floor, knowing it would upset him.

'Come on Casey!' Ava ordered and I reluctantly put my paintbrush into the water jug and wiped my hands on my apron before I pulled it off and left it on my chair 'You're covered in paint, I'll have to scrub you for years to clean all of this off'

I laughed and shoved her 'Please' I rolled my eyes as we walked inside 'You are covered in dirt so don't get all high and mighty'

We walked past one of the guards doing a sweep through our suite, he bowed as he past before continuing on his way, I hated the guards coming inside, it was bad enough being trapped here, I didn't need to be guarded in my own home on top of that.

Once we reached our bed chambers we found an angry looking nanny who was holding my maroon cotton dress I'd intended to wear to the ball, it had been laying over my bed.

'What is this?' She asked in her stern voice

'Good luck' Ava said smugly and went into the bathroom

'Traitor' I called out before turning back to nanny Colleen 'It’s my dress'

'Yes I know' She said grumpily ‘I’m the one who gave it to you for your 18th birthday this year’

'Then why did you ask?'

'Do not get smart with me young lady!'

I pouted and looked down at my feet 'Its my dress for the ball'

'Yes, I figured that much out for myself thank you' Nanny scolded me again 'I told you to pick out on of the silk dresses the King gifted you'

'They're too flashy' I admitted 'I don't want to wear th'

Before I could finish, nanny cut me off again.

'Enough' She snapped, her temper coming out as it often did when id annoy her 'Why must you be so difficult, it's the King's birthday and as his guest, you will dress appropriately, it's a ball not a garden party, I will be back in two hours and I expect you to be dressed in something more appropriate is that understood'

'Yes mam' I said softly as she threw my dress on the bed and walked towards the door.

'Ava!' she shouted before leaving 'Make sure she picks one from the King'

'Yes nanny!' she called back from the bathroom.

Once nanny had closed our bedroom door, with more force then was needed, I exhaled angrily and went to join Ava who was already in the huge tub filled with sweet smelling flower petals and bubbles.

'Thank you so much for all your help!' I snapped at her and pulled my dress over my head.

Ava giggled and flicked warm water at me 'I told you not to try it' She reminded me 'You knew nanny was never going to let you wear that dress'

‘I thought if I picked a dress she’d given me that she’s let me’ I frowned at her and started down the small stairs into the stone and marble bath and dove beneath the surface to wet my hair.

When I stood up again Ava swam over to me and wound her arms around my neck as she walked forward, pushing me up against the side of the baths marble wall

'You are so beautiful' She said softly 'Why do you insist on hiding under such plain outfit's?'

I rolled my eyes and went to push her away but she slapped my hand away before moving it down my body.

'Ava don't' I said in warning and looked at the open door, I knew what she was doing, Ava's apatite was never ending 'Nanny could come back, she'll see'

'So what' She said dismissively 'I don't care anymore, I'm tired of hiding how I feel about you'

Before I could respond, she lent forward and pressed her soft lips to mine and I felt a familiar wetness between my thighs as electric buzzing shot through my stomach, tickling me.

Without realizing what I was doing, my hands wove into her wet hair and I kissed her back passionately while Ava's hand continued to slid down my skin to my v*gina.

'Ava shh' I scolded her breathlessly 'Someone will hear you'

I went to shove her back but she grabbed hold of me with her free hand while her other one continued to bring me to my organism.

Ava was biting my throat, piercing the skin and I could feel blood running down over my shoulder.

She'd done this before, not in my marking spot on the right side of my throat but on the left, she had decided years ago that this was where her mark would sit.

I let her continue, knowing she wouldn't let go unless I'd use my powers to push her away and I'd never do that She continued to bit me hard until I gasped in pleasure from my orgasm and she finally released me.

I laid my head back breathing hard as she gently splashed water over my throat to wash away the blood, it stung a little but I was in too much extasy to care.

'What are you doing?' She asked as I sat her on the edge.

'Good now let's get dressed'

I tried to get away with picking another plain white silk dress but Ava slapped my hand when I went to grab it from the hanger and instead picked up a very pretty silver dress encrusted with tiny diamonds.

I'd never worn this dress, it actually frightened me how much the King must have spent on it.

After slipping into our outfits we did each other's hair and Ava insisted that we wear the necklaces the King had gifted us on our 16th birthday.

Once we were finally ready I stood up and stretched, I felt uncomfortable in such an extravagant dress.

'Ava you have to heal your bite mark now'

'I already told you I'm not healing it' She said casually as she looked into the mirror and added another diamond bobble.

'You're not funny' I exhaled in annoyance 'Heal it before nanny comes back'

'No' She said casually as if I'd asked her to pass me a cup of something

'Averly enough!' I grabbed her arm and spun her towards me 'Heal my throat!'

'No!' She shouted and I stepped back in surprise 'I am leaving it, you are mine just as much as you belong to Aiden and I am tired of hiding it and another thing, I'm tired of being away from him too, I'm telling him the truth!'

'Have you lost your mind?!' I argued back 'You can't tell him that we know'

'Why not?!'

'Because I'm not ready yet!' I shouted 'I told you, I don't know if I can accept him, he'll betray us Ava!'

'No, I refuse to believe it!' She argued back.

We'd been having this argument since we were 16, I always had a hard time knowing he slept with other women and I would often have visions of him leading women to his bedroom but this vision had been different.

I'd seen his bed, I knew it was his front other visions I'd had of him being intimate with other women.

Selene, lord Rykers daughter was asleep under the covers and a man with the royal crest on his shoulder was sleeping face down with his arm over her.

I couldn't see his face but he had a mark on his throat meaning that this happened after we'd marked and mated with him.

I also had another vision of yelling at the King in his bedroom, confronting him about the betrayal but Ava refused to accept it and said the vision was wrong

'You're so naive!' I snapped 'I might not be the best at understanding or controlling my powers, but I know what I saw!'

'You saw it wrong!' She argued 'He would never betray us, he loves us!'

'Loves us' I laughed without any real humor

'What a joke, Ava if he truly loved us he'd stop sleeping with other women'

'Casey for the last time' She exhaled in annoyance 'Just let it go, so what if he sleeps with other women, technically we aren't together yet, he can do what he likes as long as he is loyal once we're together'

'Which he won't be!'

'And besides!' She added angrily 'Its a tad hypocritical for you to say he can't be with anyone after what we just did without him'

'Oh that is completely different and you know it!' I couldn't believe her right now 'We are meant to be together, it's natural, what his doing is a form of betrayal!'

'Okay ok' She rose her hands in surrender but I knew it was just to get me to shut up 'Look, setting aside the fact that he sleeps with other women, I really do want to be with him and despite your objections, I know you feel the same way, I can always tell when you're lying, remember, so I know when you say you don't love him that you actually do'

'So what'!'

'So' She smirked 'For the sake of your own happiness and mine, can't you at least try and give him a chance, for me Casey, please' I frowned at her as I thought things over

'Fine' I gave in 'For you, I will try but if he ever betrays us, marked or not, I will reject him'

'And I know that will never happen so I don't have to worry about it'

'You're hopeless' I complained

'So where did we land on telling him the truth?'

'We are not telling him' This girl was exhausting 'Besides, he clearly doesn't want us to know until we shift’

'I am not waiting another 9 months!' She snapped 'I am telling him so get on board because'

Ava fell silent when we heard foots steps, that must have been nanny and one of the guards.

'Sh*t' I gasped and grabbed Ava's hand and held it to my throat 'You have to heal this mark, quick before nanny'

The door handle turned and I jumped in fear and quickly pulled my loose hair down over my left shoulder

The door opened and to my complete horror, nanny walked in with the King. Oh no, this cannot be happening.

The King was wearing a very nice dark green shirt and black pants with a jacket and his shoulder length black hair had been brushed back nearly but he'd left his beard close shaven as always.

He froze and looked at us with a wide smile and touched his hand to his heart

'My word' He gasped as my heart raced in fear, I was going to kill Ava 'Dont you girls look breathtaking'

'So do you your majesty' Ava bowed and I quickly copied her, making sure my hair stayed in place over my mark 'We were just talking about you'

'You were?'

'No' I lied 'I mean, we were but just about the ball, nothing else, shall we go?'

'Actually your majesty' Ava grabbed the sleeve of my dress to stop me 'We wanted to talk to you in private about something'

'Oh and what's that?' He asked as he walked closer to us

'Its nothing, really' I lied and shook my head 'We can discuss it another day, we really shouldn't hold you up, the ball is going to start soon and we'

'Be silent!' King Aiden held up his hand and his eyes darkened angrily, sh*t, did I say something to anger him.

He quickly marched the rest of the way over to us and shoved my hair back, sh*t.. I gasped and quickly covered the mark with my hand but he pulled it down.

'Oh my!' Nanny gasped and covered her mouth with her hands.

'WHO DID THIS?' He shouted and Ava and I cringed back before he turned to nanny 'WHAT GUARDS HAVE BEEN IN THIS ROOM!?'

'None your majesty' She shook her head 'They aren't allowed in here'

'WELL ONE OF THEM CLEARLY BROKE THAT RULE!' He turned back to me looking furious and gripped my hand tighter, not enough to hurt me but enough to keep me in place.

'I WANT THE NAME OF THE BOY WHO TOUCHED YOU!'

'It wasn't a boy!' Ava stepped forward

'Ava be quiet' I tried to hush her

'I did it!'

'DO NOT LIE TO ME!'

'I'm not lying' She stood her ground and tried to push his hand off of my wrist 'Now let her go, you're going to hurt her'

The King looked between the two of us and understanding registered in his eyes.

'Colleen leave us immediately' He said calmly now and released my wrist to Ava who rubbed it gently

'Yes your majesty' She bowed and quickly exited the room.

The King looked at Ava and frowned

'You marked her?' He asked in a soft tone 'Why?'

'Why do you think' She snapped 'I love her and she loves me, why can't I mark her!'

'Ava, stop, please'

'No Casey enough is enough!' Ava snapped and looked at our clueless mate 'I don't want to hide anymore, we now, okay'

'Know?' He frowned and then his eyes narrowed 'You know what?'

'We know you're our mate' She had done it, I couldn't believe her.

King Aiden stepped back with wide eyes and looked completely shocked

'What?' He gasped and looked at me 'How?'

'Casey had a vision'

'I.. I always suspected that Casey knew because of her visions but she never said anything so I...' He stuttered 'I never thought she'd tell you though, even if she did see it in a vision'

'We don't keep secrets' She said 'Unlike you, when were you planning on telling us?!'

'When you came of age next year!' He said loudly 'When did you have a vision of us as mates?'

'When she was 15' Ava answered for me 'It was one of her first visions'

'And when did this begin?' He snapped and pointed to the bite mark on my throat

'A few months later' She admitted 'Id always been attracted to Casey but I never said anything, nanny told us we'd probably have the same mate but we shouldn't act on any other feels we might have towards each other that weren’t sibling related until he'd marked us but after Casey's vision I couldn't deny my feelings anymore and I... I snuck into her bed one night and things just happened, are you mad?'

'Mad, mad... Ava I'm furious, I can't believe this' He said angrily and rubbed his face in his hands 'This is unbelievable, so let me get this straight, I've spent years denying my own feelings and being tortured every time I was near either of you because I couldn't touch you, I kept telling myself that I couldn't claim the two of you because you were too young for such a serious commitment and this whole time the two of you have been...'

He growled as smoke slowly left his nose, he was clearly very angry.

He turned towards my night stand and shoved it angrily causing several things to fall

'I cannot believe this!' He shouted and turned back to us 'All this time, how often do you two mark one another!?'

'I mark her every few weeks but Caseys never marked me' Ava said sadly 'Even though I've begged her too like a thousand times but I can't heal myself, so she always said no'

'I can't believe this!' He said again 'I mean I always suspected you two were closer than normal siblings but I would always tell myself that it was just my own desires and that you weren't ready for that kind of thing yet but I obviously wrong!' He looked at both of us and then his eyes went to my bite mark and he growled again.

'So what now?' Ava asked nervously 'Are you going to reject us because we didn't wait for you?'

'Of course not!' He said in surprise 'I would never reject you, I’ve been waiting your entire lives to have you, nothing will make me want to reject you, I just.... I just need a minute to wrap my head around this, you know we're mates and you clearly don't mind and you have no issues being together sextually, this is all I've ever wanted'
