CHAPTER 9 - CASIDY'S POV - TEAR

1894 Words
'Wonderful' King Aiden smiled before looking over at me and reaching out his hand 'Now that that's settled, I will be stealing my girls for a moment, Casey?' I glared at his hand, he had some nerve to just show up here and expect me to just go along with him The Alpha stared at me with his, do not argue, expression I'd learnt as a child so I took his hand which he used to pull me in closer before he kissed it and began walking us away from the crowd. He walked us behind a grouping of trees where a private table had been set up. 'I thought we could have morning tea together and catch up' He told us before pulling out a chair for each of us. 'Thank you' Ava smiled and kissed his cheek before sitting down 'Thank you' I grumbled and sat down as well 'You both look lovely today' He said sweetly and I hated that his compliment made me blush and my heart race 'I look lovely everyday' Ava commented as she reached over and took a grape from the plate 'Something you'd know if you hadn't abandoned us for three days' King Aiden leant back in his chair with an amused expression and crossed one of his legs up, resting his ankle on his knee 'Do you truly believe I'd choose to fight for three days over being with you girls?' 'How would we know?' I asked angrily 'You only ever spoke to us every few weeks growing up and it's very clear things aren't going to change now that we're officially mates, seeing as we only found out from nanny that you left the castle in the first place' 'Or that you were safely back from Lady Roslyn' Ava added The Alpha sighed and rubbed his face 'You know, when I envisioned having two mates those fantasies never included being ganged up on by both of you at once' He commented with a sly smirk 'I am sorry for leaving without a proper goodbye but I had to go as quickly as possible and as for not informing you of my return, I wanted to rest before seeing you both' 'You could have sent a note' I complained 'Yeah' Ava glared at him 'Did it ever occur to you that we might be worried?' King Aiden smiled and reached over the table to take one of our hands. 'I am happy you were worried about me but I promise I was fine and in the future I will make sure you are the first to know I'm home' 'Good' Ava said happily and pulled her hand back 'Am I forgiven?' He asked and pouted at us 'Just this once' Ava told him and ate another grape 'Casey?' I glared at him 'As long as you promise that things will change, if we're going to be together, it can't be like it used to be with you ignoring us all the time and then coming to visit us whenever it was convenient for you' He pulled my hand to his lips and kissed it softly, making my heart beat faster. 'I never wanted that' He told us 'I wanted to be with you all the time but I couldn't give away that we were mates, you have enough enemies just from being celestials, I didn't want to add mine to the list but I promise to try and change, just be a little patient with me, I've been alone for a very long time, it will take some getting used to having mates to lean on for the running of the kingdom' 'Okay' I told him 'Did you get injured?' 'Just a few burns and scratches but nothing lethal and I've already had a healer take care of things' 'It’s really not fare that we can't heal ourselves' Ava commented 'What’s the point of having a healing ability if it doesn't work on yourself' 'I agree' He smiled at her 'It’s a good thing we have each other than' 'Um.. Aiden' I said nervously, and he looked back at me 'I wanted to ask you something about the wedding' 'Oh me too!' Ava practically jumped up and down in her seat 'Shoot' He said as he began to pull some roast duck onto his plate 'Um.. lady Elisa told me something about a wedding tour and I' Aiden paused and looked at me quickly 'She told you what!' He interrupted me, looking angry 'I told the dam elders to keep that to themselves' 'What’s a wedding tour?' I quickly explained it to my twin before turning back to my mate 'So I take it by your response that you won't let us go?' He exhaled and rubbed his face 'I have no choice but to take you, I can't get out of it' He answered and I felt a rush of excitement 'But I wasn't planning on telling you about it until after the ritual, at least by then, no one can take your power so you won't be in danger' 'But that over a year away' I pouted 'Why can't we go with guards, it's at least better then not going for so long' 'Casidy I know you've hated being trapped in the castle' He told me gently 'God knows you tried to escape enough growing up but I cannot risk it, even if you two weren't celestials, you're still my mates so I'd wait until after your first shift because it would destroy me if something happened to either of you' 'We can wait' Ava looked at me and I pouted angrily 'Its just a few more months, now onto really important business, when can we start preparations for the ceremony?' Aiden laughed and leant back in his chair again 'I thought I had to propose properly first' 'You do' She shrugged while I sat there fuming angrily and munching on a strawberry, I was so excited to be free of this dam castle and now I had to wait over a year 'But it can't hurt to' Ava stopped talking and her whole face turned white while our eyes began to glow. No... not now, it's had been months since the last burning. 'Ava, Casey?' Aiden stood up and looked around the area for the danger. He knew only too well what was happening, a burning was about to begin. Ever since the last celestial drained the power from the core of our world instead of adding half of hers to it, the world was dying which is why the ritual next year was so important, it was the time our seers had estimated the total destruction of our world. Every few months a tear would open in reality, and the surrounding area would begin to burn and die. It was a celestial’s job to close the tear before the damage couldn’t be undone. There were several areas outside the castle that were destroyed before our powers developed and it took the lives of several of our most powerful dragons to even close the tares. I could feel it growing stronger as Ava and I stood up, it was close by. I took Ava's hand and we ran back towards the garden party with King Aiden behind us, the women had rushed away from a silver glowing rip in the air while a few of our dragon guards with powers surrounded the area and held up their hands which were glowing and trying to hold a force field in place. 'GO!' Aiden shouted at the party guests 'GET BACK NOW, SOME ONE GET THE HEALERS HERE NOW!' Ava and I knew our duty, we ran straight past the guards and through their forcefield I could hear our mate shout at us to be careful but I had to focus so I shut him out The second we got close to the tear I felt everything inside of me burn but Ava grabbed my arm and pushed her healing ability out of herself, it was the only time her healing ability ever worked her own body which I was grateful for. As we sat down on our knees and faced each other, we linked our hands and looked up into each other's eyes in fear but determination. 'It will be okay Ava' I told her as our hands began to glow 'We've done this a hundred times, I have you, just take a breath and pull up your power' 'I've never felt one this strong before' She groaned in pain Ava had never been as strong as me, most of the time my powers overwhelmed hers and she struggled to give me the strength I needed to help close the rifts but she was doing so much better lately 'Just focus' I ordered 'We can do this' I took a deep breath and released one of her hands and reached out to the tear, a steady stream of white light shot out of me and I felt my power begin to drain, sh*t, it really was a powerful one. I looked over at Ava who was already breathing hard 'Now!' Ava reached her hand out next to mine and a light shine from her hand as well and the tear before to flicker and close up. 'I can't maintain it!' Ava shouted in fear 'Your powers to strong Casey, pull back, I can't keep up with you' I looked at my twin again and saw blood dripping from her nose, sh*t, the last time this happened she passed out and nearly died but luckily for me, the tear that time was small and I could close it alone, this one was really big and my power was already depleting. 'I can't!' I shouted nervously 'If I pull back the tear will get bigger, you have to fight through the pain' 'I can’t' She screamed 'Its slipping, you're too strong for me!' Ava's heart was racing and the blood was now running down her chin, I had to do something or I'd lose her. Ava was shaking badly as she tried to maintain the stream but her power flow was weakening, I had to close this rift and quickly because I could feel my own power faltering because I was having to over compensate for Ava. I took a deep breath and pulled my hand from hers and reached up to the sky. 'CASEY STOP!' Ava screamed as she collapsed 'I nearly had it!' I called forth the storm clouds that were a few hundred feet from us and caused lightning to start shooting around us. I could hear King Aiden screaming at me to stop but I couldn't, Ava was too weak to go on and I was nearly empty, I had to close the rift and soon I took in lightning strike after lightning strike and I felt my entire body burn in agony but it was working, my stream of light strengthened and the tear finally closed up. I continued for a few more seconds to make sure but then I felt someone’s strong arms wrap around me and pull me back and I let my arms drop. I screamed in pain as someone placed me on the ground but then I felt my heart seize up and everything went back.
