Chapter 5— A deal.
Rowena’s POV
“I will have so much fun with you once Bradford is done with you.” One of the guards growled while I rolled my eyes. I dare him to come forward and say s**t to me again.
A proud smile settled on my face remembering how hard I slammed my head to his. It hurts like a b***h but I was glad it had the impact I wanted.
“Maybe I will be the one having more fun with you.” A cold, strong voice came from the door.
My head jerked towards the intruder and I saw the male I saved.
“A… Alpha, I didn’t know you were awake already.” The male muttered, bowing his head. I could see his fingers trembling.
Alpha.
He had the aura of an Alpha and I remembered someone had referred to him as that. That could also explain how someone who had been fully injected with silver was back to their feet in a day. Two? f**k! I had no idea how long I had been locked here.
My eyes narrowed on him and I was sure that hatred and anger were very evident in my eyes.
“You can go now, Otis!” He commanded and Otis ran out like his tail was set on fire which made me chuckle a little and then I remembered my situation.
“Bradford, take those chains off, will you?” He said lazily.
It was then that I noticed another male behind him. Bradford. So that was his name.
I remained quiet as I watched Bradford unchain me. Was he letting me go? Was there a catch to my release?
The Alpha walked forward and stopped a few feet before me. “I’m sorry you got treated this way,” I glared at him, “but it was all a misunderstanding and I promise to make it back to you and also thank you for saving me.”
I swallowed. I could see the sincerity in his eyes. His tone was soft with a touch of commanding aura. Whatever it was I wanted to say died in my tongue as the memory of him lying bloodied on the floor flashed before my eyes.
I wondered how he was coping after such betrayal. There was no hint that he was hurt from it but for someone who has experienced almost something similar with him, I knew deep down the pain and hurt were lying somewhere.
“Fine, I agree only because…” he c****d his brow, his eyes looking at me intently and I swallowed, feeling a hitch in my breath. “Fine.”
He nodded, took some steps back then glanced at Bradford.
“I’m sorry that I treated you like a prisoner.” He mumbled. I nodded because I was already fed up with the whole thing.
I needed a clean bath, clean clothes, food, and a bed to sleep. I also need to plan my next step. Where to stay? What to do? I had a long way to go and it made my heart heavy and my eyes sting with tears.
The Alpha cleared his throat. “Since the apologies are all done, I’m Ryker, the Alpha of the Blue Moon pack, and this is Bradford, my beta and best friend.”
For a moment, I hesitated. I didn’t know if I should reveal my name or not. What if Luca decides to follow me here? I wriggled my partially numbed fingers, “Rowena.” I whispered.
“Rowena,” he parroted as if tasting my name on his tongue.
Silence engulfed us for a moment before he broke it. “Come, let me show you to your room, you can get cleaned up, get some food, and whatever you need.” He shrugged.
I was grateful that he was at least sensible to know I needed all of that. “Thank you.” I couldn’t help but let him know how grateful I was for this.
I followed behind him while Bradford was behind me as they led me to the room that was supposedly going to be mine… for a while.
Coming out through a stone pathway up to a beautiful hall, my eyes moved around, taking in the beautiful art on the wall. I hadn’t gotten the chance to see what it looked like since I was brought in unconscious.
As we walked, I noticed how big the pack house looked. Big and beautiful just like my pack— well, bigger than my pack.
The thought of home made a sense of nostalgia wash over me and my eyes clouded with tears as the last memories of home flashed before my eyes.
“So what pack are you from?” I stopped in my tracks out of shock, making Bradford almost slam into me. “Sorry.” I winced and then continued walking.
I couldn’t tell him what pack I was from and I knew that he knew I was a rogue, I smelled like one. It wasn’t something that I could hide.
“I’ve been a rogue all my life. My parents and I, we… we were rogues but they died… they were killed.” I muttered sadly. I wasn’t particularly lying. Sensing if I was lying would be difficult for even him because I was telling the truth about my parents being dead.
“Here is your room, I will have a maid be with you in a minute with clean clothes. Clean up and then we can talk.” I didn’t get a chance to reply when he turned swiftly and left along with Bradford.
I let out a loud sigh, my heart slamming hard against my ribcage. Did he sense that I was lying? I could have sworn that I was pretty convincing.
I stepped into the room allowing myself to forget about the what ifs for a minute. The room was spacious, with a few flower vases that almost gave it a homely feel.
I quickly got into the bathroom and began to clean myself. As the warm water cascaded on my skin, I felt the tears pour allowing myself to finally mourn my loss.
I had no idea how long I was in the bath but when I stepped out, a female who I believed must be the maid stood at the foot of the bed with some clothes that I noticed weren’t there earlier. “Hi, I’m Irina.” She squeaked.
“Hi, Irina, I’m Rowena.” I greeted with a soft smile on my face.
“Alpha Ryker said you needed this.” She pointed to the bed and I nodded.
I picked up the clothes expecting her to leave but she stood where she was.
“He said to be with you and then bring you to his office.” I nodded wordlessly and then began to dress.
I was glad it was a simple T-shirt and sweatpants. “Let’s go!” I said.
Irina and I walked in silence to the Alpha’s office. When we arrived at the door, she knocked and then informed the Alpha who it was, and then left leaving me no choice but to go in alone.
“Please have a seat.” Alpha Ryker pointed to an empty seat opposite where he sat.
“I know I should let you rest but…” he flipped through pages before glancing back up. “I needed to know what I can offer you as a thank you for saving me.”
I thought about his words. What do I need? Could I be plain to him and tell him everything? No! Definitely not. I didn’t think he would want to jeopardize his pack because of me, a stranger he just met.
“But a stranger who saved his life!”
Lupa commented.
I needed a place to stay. I needed shelter, and food. Being a rogue would never let me bring Luca down. And from what I witnessed, I couldn’t join the rogues pack either, they were ruthless and evil.
“A place to stay and being a member of your pack if you don’t mind.” I bent my head without looking at him. He was going to refuse. He didn’t know me, I was just a rogue who saved him.
There was a long silence, one that made me nervous and fidget in my seat but I still didn’t look up.
“Why don’t I make the offer even more appealing? Be my Luna, carry my heir.”
