As the days went by, things did not get any better. No one in town would help me and even though my brother had begged local builders for help, they still refused, especially when they found out I was not given a mate. Things got even worse when towns people began to gossip and call me cursed. My mother and brother started having issues getting supplies they needed because of me and due to this they stopped showing up as much. People stopped talking to me when I went to town and I felt a cloud of darkness wash over me. I stopped going to town and began to focus on my home. It was only a matter of time before the council would expect me to start doing something for them. That was their way. We work for them or we are made examples of. With the house cleaned up, I began to focus on the yard and trying to get the garden started. My mother and brother had both left me seeds and I needed to get them started. I highly doubted they would grow but I had to try because if I didn't, then I would starve, plus winter was coming and food would be hard to come by. I started by clearing the junk scattered on the land and I was able to salvage some of the things, like wood. I used the wood to board up the busted window. Clearing out the junk was a difficult task because a lot of it was heavy. I was not making as much progress as I would have liked. -unknowns point of view- "It's time you had a mate," my father said as he walked into my room. I looked up from the book I was reading and said, " Father, I have a fated mate out there and I will wait for her." "You have waited long enough. Five hundred years.. I have given you enough time. The dragon king of the west has a daughter who is of age," he said as he sat down in the empty chair across from mine. "I don't want a random mate, I want my mate." My father sighed and said, "Leviathan finding a fated mate is rare. Ever since the great destruction, not many have found their fated mate. As the next in line for the thrown you need to set an example about taking a chosen mate. If our kind does not start producing young, then we will soon die out. The rate of births have significantly declined." "I am aware of this." " Then you need to take a mate." "No. I want my mate." "You will die waiting for her." " Then so be it." I stood up, put the book on the brown chair and began to walk towards the window. "You and mom were fated mates. I deserve the same." I heard my father sigh. "Leviathan, your mother is the love of my life and I wish you had your true mate, but times have changed since the collision with the other planets. We lost so many of our kind." "I am aware of this. I just know she is out there. I can feel it. " "You have one month to find her. If you do not find her, then you will meet with the daughter of the king." "Fine." "Good. I will see you at dinner." I looked at my father and nodded my head. I watched as he walked out of the room and looked back out the window. I wanted my fated mate, but finding her would be a challenge. As I looked out the window I could see the humans working on the ground and frowned. Since my planet collied with the human planet and the other planet, things have never been the same. The air smelled weird and the planet changed. When we discovered the humans, they were a mess and the smell coming from them was horrible, but the four kingdoms decided to use them as slaves. I hated seeing them but they worked hard and kept our society going. "I heard your father paid you a visit," I heard Davem say as he walked into my chambers. I kept looking out the window and said, " He did." "That bad?" "Yes. He wants me to take a chosen mate." This caused Daven to whistle. "Let me guess you don't want to do that?" "No. I can feel her. I have for awhile." "What do you mean?" I turned around and looked at Daven who was leaning against my book case. "It's like I can feel her heart beating and her emotions. She is scared and tired but I have no way of finding her." "That is interesting. What do you plan to do?" "I have one month to find her or will be forced to take a mate. I need to find her." "The only way to find her is to go to the village." "I have been to all the dragon villages and have yet to find her. I am starting to think she is just a child," I said as I looked back at the humans tending the ground. "One more time will not hurt. The worst that will happen is your forced to mate a dragon who is not yours." "True. Now I know you did not come here to talk about my problems. Why are you here?" I asked. "We have an issue with one of the humans." "And what is that?" "The young female could not be given a human mate due to the fact we can not figure out who her father is. The female mother slept around and we could not risk her being with a family member. We gave her a home on the border of the two planets merging, but it can grow crops. One of our men has been following her and the town will not help her." "That's our problem. Why?" "She will not make it to the winter." "So. That is one less human we have to worry about. There are other things to worry about than a simple human." "Yes, your highness."
