“We have to let them in the house to sleep,” Erik tells me softly and I nod. “The sun will be up soon. The village will be searching for them.”
“We should go speak with Knute,” I tell him and he nods.
“I agree,” he says, helping me stand and leading me into the house. “I’ll bring Harald and Anders with us to be safe, but I don’t think he will do anything. He’s a good Jarl. He won’t risk the safety of the village.”
I nod, hoping he’s right. “I’ll take Mani to Helga to be safe.”
He pauses, but eventually nods and agrees. I go inside and climb into bed with Mani as Erik and his friends pile in. Our home isn’t very large, but they don’t seem to mind as they lay across the floor.
