“What kind of snake was it?” Helga asks me with a laugh. Astrid sits at the table, her eyes wide as I tell my tale. “I don’t know,” I tell her, shocked that THIS is what she wants to know. “It was dark. And it was alive.” Astrid laughs out loud, but Helga just rolls her eyes. “Ignore Anders. That was a sign.” “A sign for what?” I ask her, feeling so confused. “Even more change?” She nods and smiles. “It could be. I look forward to whatever it may be.” After some time, Astrid leaves us, and Helga leads me to the table to sort some new herbs she harvested.
