“Us?” Anders says, his voice a little shaky. “We can’t feed her.”
Knute smiles at him kindly. “You can have my goats. I’m having a hard time going home to care for the animals while living in the longhouse. Take all my animals as a gift for your new daughter.”
Anders looks at me, his blue eyes full of fear, but a smile tugs at his lips. “Could we?” he asks me.
