Chapter Three - A New Outlook

1166 Words
Quinn’s POV**** I woke up with a relentless headache, my mind groggy and my body heavy with exhaustion. As the memories of last night’s pain and desperation flooded back, they morphed into a simmering rage, a determination to seek revenge on those who had betrayed me. Corbin sat nearby, watching me with a knowing look in his eyes. “Seems like you’ve woken up with a fresh resolve.” he remarked, amusement dancing in his voice. I shot him a glare, my anger still raw. “Don’t act like you find this amusing,” I snapped, my tone sharp. Corbin’s grin widened, unfazed by my outburst. “Oh, I find it quite entertaining,” He admitted, his gaze unwavering. Before I could retort, the door burst open, and my parents entered the room. They had returned from their pack business earlier than expected, their expressions a mix of concern and curiosity. “We heard what happened last night.” My father began, his tone was serious as he looked between Corbin and me. “Alpha, we’ve known for a while now that you’re Quinn’s mate. I thought you weren’t going to pursue the bond?” I bristled at the mention of last night, realizing that Corbin had likely shared the details with my parents. “You had no right to–” I started, but Corbin interrupted me with a cheerful grin. “I just couldn’t resist sharing the delightful company I had last night,” he said with a wink, earning an exasperated sigh from me. My mother raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by the interaction. “So, what’s the plan now, Alpha? What do you intend to do now?” She asked, her eyes twinkling with curiosity. Corbin’s smile turned mischievous as he leaned back in his chair, folding his arms lazily behind his head. “Well, I’ve decided to take full responsibility for whatever chaos Quinn causes in her wake,” he announced, his tone playful, yet determined. “And I think it’s time for her to move into the pack house with me as my mate and future Luna.” I felt like the air had been knocked out of me, shock and exasperation mingling in my expression. “When did I agree to that?” I demanded, my voice incredulous. Corbin’s gaze softened, his eyes locking with mine. “Who said I was letting my mate run from me?” he replied, his tone gentle yet unwavering. “Still…” I began. Corbin’s face broke into a grin as his eyes hungrily glazed over my body. “I let you go once, deciding to allow you to do as you please. I have no intention of letting you walk from me a second time.” He suddenly clapped his hands together, earning the attention of the room and smiled towards my parents. “So, with that settled. I plan to take Quinn with me tonight.” Corbin’s cheeky grin was infuriating as he declared, “Time to take you to the pack house.” I tried to object, “Corbin, I don’t think–” “Nope,” he cut me off, laughing as he scooped me up and tossed me over his shoulder. I squealed, trying to squirm away, but his firm hand landed on my bottom, making me yelp. My parents stood in the doorway, amused. Corbin nodded to them. “Don’t worry, Allison, Torren, she’s in very capable hands. I’ll see you both at tomorrow’s Alpha meeting.” They laughed. “Take care of her, Alpha,” My father said, pride in his voice. Corbin carried me to his car, buckling me in gently. The close proximity made my heart race. As we drove to the pack house, I finally appreciated its beauty—the elegant stone facade, sprawling gardens, and the sense of history. He parked and carried me to the Alpha Suite, a room I’d never entered. He deposited me on the large bed, the plush comforter cushioning my fall. “Corbin, you can’t just carry me around like luggage!” I glared at him. He leaned in, ruffling my blonde hair. “I’m the Alpha. I’ll do what I want,” he smirked. “That’s not fair!” I insisted. I growled, frustration boiling over. Corbin tapped my forehead, grinning. “Who said life is fair, kitten?” He was about to kiss me when the door flew open, and Tristan stormed in, furious. “I thought I got rid of you!” Tristan yelled. “Don’t think you can seduce my dad just because you can’t have me!” I scoffed. “Who said I want you anymore? Have my sister. You aren’t some prize, Tristan. And just so you know… I faked it. Every damn time.” I said cruelly. Much to Tristan’s dismay, and a little encouraged to make him suffer… I grabbed Corbin’s tie and dragged him in for a passionate kiss, slipping my tongue, as I deepened our kiss. Corbin responded eagerly as Tristan stood there, stunned and furious. When we finally broke apart, Corbin smirked at his son. “Any more questions, Tristan?” Tristan’s jaw clenched, but he turned and stormed out, slamming the door. I couldn’t help but feel a sense of triumph as I looked up at Corbin, who was still grinning. Corbin wagged his eyebrows at me. “Where were we? Don’t tell me that was all a show? I want more of those pretty lips of yours.” I rolled my eyes, but my heart pounded in my chest. “You’re impossible,” I muttered. “Impossible to resist, you mean,” he teased, leaning in closer. “Come on, Quinn. Admit it—you enjoyed that.” I bit my lip, trying to maintain my composure. “Maybe a little,” I admitted. “A little?” He chuckled, his voice a low rumble that sent shivers down my spine. “I’ll take it.” Before I could respond, his lips were on mine again, more insistent this time. I melted into the kiss, my hands tangling in his hair. Corbin’s arms wrapped around me, pulling me closer as if he couldn’t get enough. When we finally broke apart, breathless, he rested his forehead against mine. “You’re mine, Quinn. No more running.” I nodded, unable to deny the truth any longer. “No more running,” I whispered. “Good girl. Now. Let’s get you cleaned up, we’re going out for dinner.” He told me with a smile tugging on the corners of his lips. “Why?” I asked, confused. “Don’t ask questions, just let me do something nice for you.” He said with a laugh. I let him pull me to my feet. “If you decline, I’ll have no choice but to carry you.” “Fine, I’m coming.” I relented allowing him to hold my hand as we walked out of the room.
