Karen
I didn't know what had just happened to me, but the moment I stepped out f the building, I was a new person. I headed straight to my apartment to pack my valuables. I intended to hold on to the key till the last day, just in case my arrangement with Oscar falls through the cracks. I paid my rent and headed to the salon.
Macy Reynolds was nice and receptive. I figured the salon also had a boutique. I was asked to try on some clothes. I was given clothes for luncheons, dinners, meetings and casual wear. I realised I would not need any of my old clothes in my new apartment. My long hair was cut to medium length, and it looked amazing. By the time Macy was done with me, I looked rich.
" Wow Macy, it is amazing," I told her, and she smiled.
I had to hire a cab to move my things from the salon to my new apartment.
Getting to the building, I was ushered to the apartment. Oscar had assigned me a personal guard. With the way the asshole was behaving, I knew he was my jailer.
" No matter what, you must be in your apartment before six in the evening. Mr Wilde might visit you. If you are not here by then, we could both lose our jobs." He told me point-blank, and I nodded.
It was about three in the afternoon. I still had time. I wore something casual and went to Jenny's to eat. James was thrilled to see me.
" What happened Karen?' He asked, admiring my new look.
" You wouldn't believe what happened to me today, James," I said, forking down the food he had served me.
" I am on break, you can spill," he told me, curious to know what brought about the sudden change. I wouldn't blame him, after all, he had seen me in the morning complaining about life when I came to get my food after I was turned down. I told him everything except the part of taking care of Oscar Wilde's needs.
" It sounds like magic Karen," he said in disbelief. I gave him some money to show my gratitude for everything. He was happy to receive it, and I told him he would be seeing more of me. I promised to pay for my food henceforth, well as long as I had money.
I returned to the apartment by five-thirty and cleaned up. I didn't know what I would be doing for Mr Wilde, but whatever it was, I intended to do it well. Keeping my job determined what my future would be like.
Oscar never showed up, and I slept by one in the morning.
The next day I got ready to resume work as his assistant. I arrived at seven in the morning and asked Valery to give me some pointers. I got his protein shake and breakfast from the cafeteria.
I noticed that my boss liked to eat lots of meat. His entire daily meal plan was filled with meat, energy drinks and protein shakes. The cafeteria workers were nice and highly receptive.
" Are you not the crazy girl from yesterday?" one of the workers asked me. I was a bit embarrassed, but I didn't let it show. Instead, I smiled.
" Karen Hunter, Mr Wilde's new assistance." I introduced myself, and he smiled.
" Robert Wilson, Wilde's stylist," he said and shook my hand.
" I love your haircut. It suits your face. I hope we get to hang out sometime?" Robert winked, handed me his card and walked away.
I hurried to Oscar's office to wait for him. Unfortunately for me, he was already there, and he wasn't pleased to see me.
" You are late Hunter," He said in a very condescending tone.
" I am sorry, sir. I had been here since 7 am. I went to get your breakfast and check your schedule." I explained, but he didn't respond.
I placed his meal on the table facing the couch in his office. Valery had told me he never allowed food on his desk.
" Do you need anything else, Sir?" I asked, waiting for my orders, but he was silent.
He got up and went to the couch where I had arranged his meal and started to eat. I didn't know whether to excuse myself or wait for him to excuse me, so I stood.
" I have a dinner date with an associate this evening. Make sure you dress well and look nice. You will be coming as my date," he said.
" Yes, Sir," I responded and continued to wait.
When he finished the meal, I went to trash the disposables.
I was tired of standing and waiting. I couldn't help but ask.
" Will you need anything else, Sir?" I asked, and he did not respond. As I stood, watching him attend to the papers on his desk, I realised that he had decided to make me a fixture in his office.
I stood for an hour. Then Oscar finally spoke.
" You can sit on the couch. Once it is two o'clock, you can return to your apartment. I will be picking you up by six. Wear a white dinner gown. Make sure it is revealing." he ordered, and I went to sit on the couch.
He didn't say another word to me and went on with his business. The moment it was two in the afternoon, I got up to leave.
I got to my apartment feeling very nervous. I was afraid that my clothes wouldn't be sexy enough for the meeting. I took a cab to Allen's Salon to seek Macy's help.
Macy sold me an expensive white revealing gown. It was almost like I was n***d but wasn't. I bought nude undergarments to give the illusion of not wearing anything, and the gown was made from white lace.
I returned to my apartment by five and got ready for the business meeting.
His chauffeur picked me up at six sharp. I found Oscar waiting for me in the backseat. I quietly joined him, and we left.
" Are you on birth control?" he asked me, and I shook my head. " Will have the doctor put you on one tomorrow," he said and remained silent.
We got to a small building on the outskirts of town. I wondered what we were doing there.
" Whatever you do, do not speak to anyone or leave my side," he said, and I nodded.
Upon entering the place, I was amazed at the beauty. It didn't look as good from the outside. It was a restaurant and a casino at the same time. We were ushered to the VIP lounge.
Oscar ordered wine. We sat in silence and suddenly he began to kiss me. I was wondering what was going on when I heard a man clear his throat. Oscar broke the kiss, and an old man sat on the couch across from us.
" I see you brought a plaything." The old man said, referring to me. I was pissed off, but I held it in. It didn't matter how I felt. A job was a job, and my livelihood depended on this one.
" When are you going to return to the pack fully?" The man asked him.
" Soon uncle, soon," Oscar assured him, and I figured the man was his uncle.
" I am old and can no longer run it. You are next in line." the man said, and I wondered what they were talking about. I just sat down and continued to sip the wine and stare at nothing.
" There are things we need to do so I can hand it over to you properly." the man told him, and Oscar nodded.
They had a weird conversation for a while. By then, I had almost finished the bottle, and I was tipsy.
" I would have asked you to stay, but since you came with someone, I think I should let you return." The old man said getting up, and I understood why Oscar had brought me there.
When the man left, Oscar snatched the wine glass from my hand.
" I don't deal with drunks," he said, and I didn't know when I responded.
" What else did you expect me to do?"
He pulled me up and rushed me to the car.
I knew I had passed out in the car because suddenly I woke up on the couch in my apartment. I had a headache. I tried hard to think if anything had happened, but my mind was blank. I noticed I had puked all over my dress, and I was alone in the apartment.
I knew I had messed up big time. Would I have a job to go to tomorrow?
