Blurb

Carter Mills-Davis is very open about his sexuality and he could successfully say that he is out of the closet. The thing is the fear of being judged or bullied doesn't really go away even after you accept yourself - it is always there and it has been haunting him for a while.

So, when the new guy in his college asks for directions to one of his classes, Carter is left starstruck. He wants to ask him, he really does but he's afraid of ruining the friendship they begin to build soon enough.

If only he had the courage to get what he truly wanted.

PROLOGUE
It had been a quiet afternoon when he first saw him. He had been running in the streets around campus as he always did in order to keep fit, something he had promised his older brother that he would do. Nicholas, his brother, had gained a few pounds while in college and ever since then, he would always work out to make sure that none of his body parts had extra fat in them. Carter found that a little bit crazy but never commented on it. If his brother wanted to exercise, then he could but why did he have to do so too? He used to hate keeping fit, never really participating in gym at high school (he would only run around the court and when they played dodgeball, he would only duck when the ball came straight to his face or other vital body parts) but his brother made him promise that he would and Carter was known to never break his promises. This is why even after four years of making that stupid promise, he still runs half an hour every afternoon after his classes have ended or before they began. And every time he started, he would always curse his stupid brother and that stupid promise but at least, he would most of the time find something to paint while running and once he would go to his dorm room, he would paint it in exact detail. One of the many reasons Carter loved having photographic memory is that if he sees something anywhere, he would still remember it when he gets home and he would paint it, pouring his heart in every single detail of every painting like he always did. Ever since he was young, he loved drawing. Either with watercolours or crayons on any surface. His mama would tell him stories from when he was young that he started drawing before he could even speak and that he would ruin her cabinets and walls with his rainbow-coloured crayons. Painting had been his passion and it still was. That was what he was studying in college too and as weird as it may sound, he loved every class - except Mrs Hastings' Culture and History lesson because he despised history ever since he was a kid. It had been the lesson that always lowered his GPA by a lot. His photographic memory helped him a lot with his studying and college in general. His roommate would get angry at him because he would have to stay up all night to study for a test while he would need a few hours to learn everything by heart. He would almost always sleep before midnight. Carter was known to be quiet when needed and loud when he wanted. That's how his family would describe him. When he needed to be serious, he would be serious but when everything was cool and he could do whatever he wanted to do, he would choose whether to be loud or quiet. Most of the time, he would be quiet but when he would be loud, he would make your day with just his laugh or even with his awful dancing skills because let's face it, not everyone is good at everything! Unlike his two moms and his brother who were blonde or brunette, Carter had black hair. Like midnight black. His hair contrasted with his light hazel eyes. Nicholas had brown hair with green eyes, something he shared with their mom but their mama had blond hair and brown eyes. His family may not look exactly alike and they may get criticized by almost everyone in that society but it was okay because they loved each other so much, nothing would tear them apart. That day while he was running outside of campus grounds and cursing his brother -that he, of course, loved so much- Carter had used his ability to remember almost everything to paint like he always did. However, he hadn't painted a landscape or a shop or maybe even the street. He had seen and painted a boy. A boy with blond curls that had fallen on his forehead and somewhat hid his beautiful bright green eyes -completely different shade from those of his brother- from his view but he had managed to see them. And he had painted them. Something he had never done before.
