Chapter 3

Jane walked into her apartment located in the city not far from where the fighting ring was. Turning on the light as soon as she walked into the door she knew that someone was already in her apartment and she also knew exactly who it was. “Hello Anna! Long time no see.” Jane walked right over to Anna and gave her a huge hug. Anna hugged Jane back as hard as she could. “So tell me! How was the fight tonight and did you find out any information for our assignment?” Anna sat down on Jane’s couch and started to interrogate Jane. All Jane could do was smile and sit down on the same couch just the other end of it. “Well, my favorite sister in law, someone's brother, decided to come to the fights tonight along with my brother.” Jane raised her eyebrows at Anna when she told Anna this bit of news. All Anna could do was burst out laughing. “Oh girl, that is too funny and perfect timing. It has been over a year since you two have been near each other and yall are mates I might add.” Jane stood up and walked to the kitchen to pour herself a glass of wine. “Do you want a glass?” Jane offered Anna as she was pouring her own. Anna shook her head and with a sly look in her eyes told Jane her news. “I can't because someone else's brother is very fertile and we have baby number two on the way.” Jane was excited with this news and knew that Blade was over the moon also. Anna and Blade loved each other more than any other people that Jane knew. Their daughter was their pride and joy along with being the apple of their pack. Another baby would be great for the two of them. “I can't wait to be an aunt again. Do you know what you are having yet?” Anna laughed out loud at that, the excitement in Jane’s voice was making Anna even more excited. “Well there is more than one but unfortunately we can not tell yet what we are having. Now back to the assignment that is keeping you away from your mate and my brother. Tell me what did you learn tonight?” Jane knew that when Anna put her mind to something it was going to happen and Anna was ready to get the information and leave. This assignment was one that had everyone on edge. Jane and Anna both were petitioned by the King to handle this assignment. There was a huge fighting ring and this fighting ring was abducting young wolves and selling them on the black market. When the two ladies had learned what was needed they agreed to take this assignment head on. Blade did not even know that his own wife was working this assignment, he only knew that his sister was working it because she was under cover. Jane missed her family and really wished this was all over because she wanted to be with her mate. But it had been over a year and just now were they making any headway into who was running the ring. “Well tonight I learned that the big boss is coming to a fight that will be happening in two weeks. So we really need to find out where they are holding these young wolves and get them out. I feel like we need to work faster because something big is about to happen.” Anna looked over at Jane and could see that she was not kidding. Jane seemed to always know when something big was about to happen and over the past year they both had used this feeling to save several of those young wolves' lives. “Well girl, let's get a good night's sleep and start back again tomorrow. Plus I have to get back home before Blade does so that he does not suspect me of anything.” Anna stood up and so did Jane. With one last hug at the door Anna left Jane to head back to her own home. Jane locked the door after Anna had left then walked to her room to change into her night clothes. Once she was changed Jane crawled into her bed but sleep did not come for a while because all Jane could think about was Alex and how she wished she could be in his arms right now.

Alex and Blade were pulling up to Blade’s home when Anna opened the front door to welcome them back. “So boys, how was your night?” Anna asked as she kissed Blade while he hugged her and placed a hand on her stomach to greet the babies. Alex watched this and wished he and Jane could have the same thing right now. “Our night was good. We went and saw a fight that was amazing. The fighter was a woman and she kicked some serious butt. Then we drove back here so that I could drop off your man to you.” Alex kissed Anna’s cheek as he explained what they did. “Now that I have deprived him of you completely unharmed I will be taking my leave back to my home. Love you both and good night. Also give little Star a kiss from her favorite uncle.” Alex walked back down the stairs and got into his car to head back to his own home. The drive was not that long and before he knew it he was pulling up to the front door of his pack house. Walking up the stairs to his floor Alex thought of Jane and how much he wished she was walking up the stairs with him. Once Alex made it to his room he changed into his night clothes and laid down on his bed but sleep was far from coming. Alex had to come up with a plan to get Jane into his home and beside him asap. This year away from each other was too much for any wolf to handle.
