Chapter 5

Jane was livid as she stormed out of the palace and to her car. Alex was running to catch up with her before she could get into her car. “How dare you try to weasel your way into MY assignment.” Jane glared at Alex as he finally caught up to her at her car door. “Jane, please listen to me. I just want you safe and my wolf will not stop yelling at me while you are away from us.” Alex pleaded with her. Jane shook her head because her wolf was the same way. Jane had talked several times to her wolf about the importance of this assignment and her wolf understood, so he kept the whining down but she could see that Alex would have a hard time with his wolf. “Let's go somewhere to talk so that no one will see us talking together.” Alex loved that idea and suggested his pack house. They could meet on his floor and she could take the back stairs, then no one would see her come up. Once Alex made the suggestion to Jane, they both got into their cars and made their way to Alex’s pack house so that they could talk together. On the way to the packhouse Jane started to think of what she would say to Alex. A small part of her was excited that he wanted to help her with the assignment. Then there was a part of her that thought he did not believe in her. Flower (Jane's wolf) was so excited that she would get to spend more time with her mate and was running circles in Jane’s head. Jane pulled up to Alex’s packhouse with a small smile on her face. Alex saw this smile as he got out of his car and waited at the front door for Jane. “I guess the smile on your face means that you like your future home?” Alex said to Jane as she walked up the steps to the front door that Alex was holding open for her. “You would be wrong about that hot stuff. I was smiling at something that Flower was doing while we drove over here. By the way, Flower is my wolf’s name.” Jane walked right by Alex and up the stairs to his floor so that they could get this meeting started and over with. She had a fight tonight that she needed to prepare for. Alex followed Jane up the stairs to his floor and he really enjoyed the view as they walked. Jane was wearing a short skirt that kept going up as she climbed the stairs and Alex was just waiting for that skirt to show him even more. “You know you can stop looking up my skirt as we walk up these stairs. It is not a very gentlemanly thing to do.” Jane spoke without even turning around but what Alex did not know since she didn't turn around was that Jane had a smile on her face because she was happy that Alex liked the view. Jane knew the skirt made her butt look good even with her big hips but the fact that her mate liked it also was even better. “I am assuming we have made it to your floor since there is a door here at the stairs?” Jane asked Alex as she stopped at a door at the top of the stairs. “Yes this is my floor. Let me unlock the door so that we can do it and come up with a plan.” Alex reached around Jane with a key and unlocked the door so that they could go in. “Would you like something to drink or do you want to go to the office and get started on that plan?” Jane waved her hand in a manner of let's get this started and done. Alex walked further onto the floor and turned right to head to his office. “Right this way my lady.” Opening the office door so that Jane would walk, though Alex brushed his hand down Jane’s back as she passed by. Alex also took a deep breath of Jane’s scent as she walked by. “Let's start to work on this plan. I have a fight to get ready for tonight.” Jane sat down in the chair in front of the desk. “Ok let's see how we need to do this. The king wants me to pretend to be a greedy alpha but to be my regular self. Do you think that might be a good idea?” Alex point blank asked Jane her opinion and this threw Jane off just a little. “I believe that would be right. That is easy because we have someone in two different parts of the assignment. Right now I have been the only one working this assignment but it might help to have a greddy alpha on that part of this.” Jane liked the idea so far that Alex was coming up with and the fact that he was including her was also great. “Ok so tonight I will start to pay the groundwork of being a greedy alpha. The things that happened in the past will help me with all this also.” Alex stood up and walked over to Jane. Before she knew what was going on Alex leaned over her chair and kissed her on her lips. “Now that I have gotten a kiss let's get you going so that we can start on our assignments, my love.” Jane was in a state of shock from the kiss that Alec had just given her. But with a shake of her head she was able to clear her head but Flower was super excited and kept sighing in her head over the kiss. “Ok I will see you tonight. But pretend like you don't know me so that we don't give anything away.” With those words Jane got up, walked out the office door and headed back to her apartment to get ready for tonight. Alex watched her walk out the door and sat down to start getting his roll in place for tonight.
