The morning sun was coming up bright and clear over the castle as Alex walked up to the front door. Alex had come to the castle to talk to the king about the assignment he had placed Jane on. Alex needed more information in order to get his mate in his arms faster and the best way to get information was to go to the source. Alex hoped that the king would see him and also give him at least some of the information that he was seeking. Alex knocked on the door and waited for it to be opened. “Yes, may I help you, Alpha Alex?” the butler opened the door and looked Alex right in the face. “I would like to have a meeting with the king. I have many questions that I would like to have some answers to.” The butler’s eyes turned up while he mind linked the king to see if Alex could have a meeting. “Yes, Alpha Alex the king will have a meeting with you. Please follow me. Would you like any refreshments?” The butler asked as we reached a huge wooden door with a howling wolf on it. “No, but thank you.” “Very well sir please go on in, the king is waiting for you.” With those parting words, the butler left Alex standing at the door. Without even knocking, Alex opened the door and walked into the king's office expecting to see the king sitting at his desk, but that was not exactly what he saw. In the office the kin was there, but so was Jane and that is what made Alex pause as he walked through the door. “Ah Alpha Alex, thank you so much for coming today. It saves me some time by summoning you since you are already here.” The king gracefully got up and held out his hand to shake Alex’s hand. Alex was so confused and as soon as he shook the king's hand he turned to Jane. “Why are you here?” Alex asked point blank to Jane’s face. All Jane could do was bust out laughing because of the look on Alex’s face. The appearance was like his favorite toy had been found but was torn when it was found. “I am here because a little birdy told me that you were coming here to find out about my assignment and possibly pull me off it. I am here to make sure that you do not get your way.” Jane stood up and started to poke her finger into Alex’s chest as she made her point on why she was there in the office. “I have been working on this assignment for over one year and you will not stop all the good work that I have been doing just because we are mates and you want me by your side.” Jane had pushed Alex so far by poking him that he fell into a chair right in front of the king. The king was trying his best to control the giggle that he was having at watching this mighty Alpha being reduced to a small boy by his mate. “Um, Alpha Alex, I am sorry to interrupt, but I also would like to say that I am not pulling Jane off this assignment. She has already helped so much and is finally getting to the point where we could possibly take down the main boss.” The king had finally gotten control of his giggles to inform Alex of his decision without even listening to what Alex had to say. Well, you just got put in your place. Our mate is a feisty woman. Alex’s wolf was also ganging up on him. Alex was completely dumb struck because he had only asked one question and that was what Jane was doing there. No one had let him say anything else before they all started telling him what would happen. Alex knew that Jane was doing important things and he wanted to help so that she could come home early but no one would let him speak. “Will someone please let me talk? None of that was what I was going to ask for but no one would let me speak so that I could tell you what I wanted to ask for.” Alex crossed his arms over his chest while he sat in the chair. Jane had returned to her seat and when she looked over and saw Alx with his arms crossed she let out a small giggle. Alex looked like a little boy who was not getting his way and wanted to get his way. The king also looked at Alex and realized he had not let the Alpha talk at all as he had just assumed. “Alpha Alex, I am sorry for jumping the gun. Please let us know what it is that you would like to do.” Alex uncrossed his arms and sat up in his chair so that he could explain what he wanted from all the parties. “Well you highness, I was thinking of going undercover with Jane. I believe she needs someone with her who would be able to help speed up this process. I feel that if there are two of us working this assignment then we could complete this assignment so much faster.” The king looked at both Alex and Jane so that he could see both their reactions when he gave them the decision that he had made. “I have made a decision and I do not have to know any plans that you have come up with either Alex. I want you both to work on this but only Jane will be undercover. Alex, you will still stay as yourself but corrupt you.” The king could see that Jane was not happy at all with the decision that the king had come up with. “So that will be all for today. You will both meet and start to come up with a plan that will work with you both. Jane, you will also have to bring Alex up to speed about who your contact is.Now I need you both to leave my office because I have other things to do.” With those words from the king, both Jane and Alex got up from their seats and headed to the door of the office to leave. Before they reached the door, the king had one last comment for them both. “Oh yeah you both also need to find out who is the main guy or woman over this whole thing. I know you both can do it, so good luck.”
