Chapter 16Talya and Samuel were relaxing in front of the fireplace, watching a movie on TV when they heard a timid knock at the door. Samuel literally jumped out of the sofa, putting a finger across his lips and signing Talya to be quiet. He then went down the hallway and clamped himself against the wall beside the door, gun in hand, pointing it upward. Talya took her cane, got up slowly, and went to answer the repeated knock, shouting, “Coming, coming...”
When she opened the door, she felt faint. She put a trembling hand up to cover her mouth.
