I kept a steady pace, and as the sun dipped over the horizon again I found their camp already set up. The guards were cooking a giant boar over a pit fire. I crept a little closer as the smells filled the forest area. That boded well for me. The aroma should bring other predators closer to inspect what’s going on, which could be my chance to sneak in. I scrambled up a tree to get a better viewpoint. They were so focused on their meal there weren’t even any guards about. They were the most unprepared people I’d ever met. They might be Emma’s brothers or guards or whatever they were to her, but they were not part of Mason’s guards. Either that or his reputation was very undeserved. I looked out over the men as I spotted Emma’s tent. It was a bright pink number of all things and stuck out
