Chapter 5
When Derrick and Steven got home the only damage they found was that their rug was soaked. Since they intended to take it up and sand and varnish the floor beneath it wasn’t much of a bother. Derrick called his insurance agent and was fortunately put right through.
Mr. Don Estes hesitated, “It’s just the rug, Derrick?”
“Only the rug. We haven’t examined the cabinets yet but it doesn’t look like it got too far.” Derrick told him honestly.
“We’ll give you replacement value for the rug. Get me two estimates and you’ll have your check in a week. That saves me time. I need all I can get to take care of the others that really got hit.”
“The store is trashed, but take your time about coming to see it. Until downtown is cleaned up, I won’t be getting any customers.”
