All or Nothing

I ran to the elevator as it opened. A rush of people in suits and dresses exited as I manoeuvred around them. “Sara” I smiled as I found my sister. Well half-sister as of recently. “Why are there so many people coming to your floor?” She asked as she hugged me. “Lord knows what have been happening to this building as of late. I lost my secretary; new owners are popping up…” I trailed off as I noticed Lance heading towards us with a big smile on his face. I groaned in annoyance and rolled my eyes. “Speaking of which…” “Ms. Wilson, who’s your beautiful friend?” “Sara” Sara smiled innocently. He took her hand in his and kissed it. Sara looked over at me and I shook my head at her vigorously as a warning. “So why are there so many people in Cameron’s office today?” I asked, trying to get him off my sister. “Oh, I’m surprised you have to ask. Seems Cameron hasn’t been telling you everything” he smiled widely as if satisfied. “We’re having a little intimate get together tomorrow on the waters. Investors from all over will be joining my brother and I, where we will talk business.” A yacht party, why am I not surprised? “Since you were not invited,” he smiled, clearly enjoying himself “I would love for Sara to be my date. This way you can be her plus one.” He finished. I rolled my eyes, took Sara’s hand, and pulled her to my office. “He seems like a nice guy. We’re going tomorrow right?” I laughed without humour. “Over my dead body.” “Well there’s a window, feel free to use it as an exit because I need to escape my life.” We sat down on the couch and I poured her a glass of wine. “Why, what’s going on?” “My best friend is married and is now a mother, and my boyfriend of six years… well, we are no longer together.” She announced as she took a large gulp of the wine “You and Jason are no longer together? How the hell did that happen?” I asked in disbelieve. “I don’t want to talk about this now. We’re going to that party Katherine! We are going.” “What about Tyson?” “Doesn’t Preston have him for the weekends?” I snorted as I took a sip of my wine. “Not anymore” “Well ask him to take Tyson for this weekend or for at least tomorrow. Katherine, please” she begged. I had no idea what she was going through with this break up and I couldn’t even imagine. She was crazy about Jason and I couldn’t blame her, he was a great guy. I could have sworn they would be married already. I haven’t seen her for awhile so I guess this outing could be good for both of us. “Fine, but you should stay away from Lance. He’s nothing but trouble.” “That’s kind of what I’m looking for right now” she winked. ----- The yacht was huge and silver. We followed the line of people who walked slowly towards the entrance. Two men, one of either side of the steps, greeted us with glasses of Champaign. “We will be heading into sea in twenty minutes” the captain announced over the speakers. “You made it” Lance smiled as he spotted us. He was in an expensive suit and tie. Sara wore a tight red dress that was both sexy and elegant. I wore the basic black dress but with bright red heels and accessories. “You ladies look beautiful. I have to entertain a few people,” he stressed out his elbow for Sara and she took it “Katherine, meet a few people and talk about our company. Make us look good” He instructed. I sighed. I did not come here on a Saturday, on my day off, to work. In fact, I was going to do the opposite of that. I took the stairs to the top of the boat and found the open bar. After the boat took off from the docks and head out to the open sea, the top of the boat became crowded. After a few hours of drinking glass after glass of lord knows what, I realized I have yet to see Cameron. I stood to my feet and suddenly felt light headed as my feet wobbled. I took off my heels and carried them in my hands as I carefully went down the stairs. “You’re letting loose” Sara laughed. I spotted her in a private booth with a few people including Lance but no Cameron. I sat down beside her and placed my heels on the ground. The music was surprisingly good because my body was moving to it. “Where’s Cameron?” I asked Lance after giving up searching for him myself. “Over there” he pointed to the opposite end of the boat. The light was dark and gloomy so I had to squint without my glasses. He was smiling and talking to a skinny tall woman with big breasts and no butt. Maybe I was being a little critical but it was how I saw it. She had her hand on his arm, rubbing it soothingly. I watched as he whispered something into her ear and as her head fell back in laughter. “Don’t worry, they’ve already slept together. Cameron usually doesn’t double back” Lance informed as he rested his hand on my shoulder. “He’s actually been with most of these women…” “And how about you?” I asked with my eyebrows raised in curiosity “I don’t kiss and tell, but I’ve been around as well.” He laughed as if it was a joke. I stared at him in the corner of the room as he placed his arm around her waist, pulling her closer to him. My blood was boiling. If I could break up with him, I would at this moment, but we weren’t dating. He didn’t even invite me here, Lance did. I grabbed Sara’s arm and pulled her in their direction. I couldn’t watch anymore and not do anything. They were so caught up with each other they didn’t even notice us as we approached them. I turned my back to them in frustration and touched the closest guy near me. My mind was blank and free, the effects of the Champaign and vodka. He was tall and slim. He was tanned and wore glasses. “Hi, I’m Katherine, this is Sara.” I smiled at him with my voice raised. I noticed Cameron’s attention switch towards us when I said my name. “Hi, nice to meet you two. Are you here to invest?” He asked as he flashed us a smile. I watched as he eyed our bodies, and then looked up again. When the guy in front of us asked the question, Cameron’s jaw squared. I flipped my hair deliberately and turned to Sara with a smile on my face, then back to him. “Not exactly, but we’re here in search of husbands.” He laughed genuinely and I joined in as Sara eyed me. “Is that so?” he smiled, “It so happens that I’m recently single.” “What luck, huh?” I said to Sara as she rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly. I felt Cameron’s hand on the small of my back as he approached me from behind. “John” Cameron acknowledge as he shook the guy’s hand. “How have you been?” “Good, but better now.” He winked at me. “I’ll go get… drinks” Sara announced awkwardly as she looked at me disapprovingly. I brushed it off and pulled down my dress an inch more. “I’m happy you’ve meet Katherine. She’s one of the employees at the firm.” He looked down at me then as his hand on my back pressed into my skin. “She is a wonderful person” John smiled as he took a sip of his wine. “I agree, although I wasn’t aware she would be here today.” Cameron added. “Oh, your brother invited me. Actually he invited Sara, I’m her plus one. At least someone wanted me here” I laughed without humour. John joined in on my laugh and Cameron did briefly. “By the way, where did your date go?” I asked as I looked behind me trying to locate the women he was practically having s*x with on the corner. “I did not come with a date. This is business,” He emphasized “nothing more.” He promised. I had no idea what he was trying to tell me. If all of that was business, I would hate to see personal… “Mhmm” I nodded as if I understood or cared. “So John, how about we exchange numbers.” I felt Cameron’s fingers grip my dress suddenly as he began to chuckle. He kissed my forehead and then placed his lips at my ear. “The joke is over” He spoke softly. I laughed for good fun even though I wasn’t having any. “I wouldn’t want to come between anything” John’s face appeared hesitant as if he could tell something was going on between us. “Don’t be silly, Billy” I giggled foolishly. “There is absolutely nothing going on here” I spoke as I turned to stare into Cameron’s gorgeous eyes. “Can I speak to you in private please?” Cameron’s voice was friendly and had no hint of anger. But I knew better, I always did. “John, always a pleasure to see you. I will call you Monday” They shook hands and Cameron guided me through the crowd and into a cabin. As soon as the door closed, my back was against the wall. His body braced against mine, the anger I knew was there finally came to light. “What the f**k was that, Katherine?” He snared, his eyes flaring and his lips pressed in a straight line. “I have no idea what you are talking about” I smiled, weirdly scared to death and turned on at the same time. He stared down at me for a few minutes, the room completely silent. “Why do you continue to play with my emotions?” He asked quietly. “Right because you’re completely innocent. It is all on me. You practically f*****g that girl in the room doesn’t even matter. Oh I forgot, you’ve actually f****d her before.” He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. Before I could read his facial expression, his lips were already on mine. He took out his anger on them as did I, as well as my jealousy. I bit and sucked them as he forced his against mine. I could feel his growing erection against my p***y, it was begging for attention. I don’t know if the alcohol had anything to do with this, but I was completely willing to do it right here and now with everyone on the other side of the door. “I don’t mix business” He hummed as he kissed down the side of my neck. “I did before, but that’s over.” “So what am I?” I asked out of breath as my panties continued to get soaked. He stopped what he was doing as looked into my eyes. I couldn’t tell if he was wondering the same thing or trying to figure it out. He placed his lips to mine gently as he caressed my cheek. “Special” I shook my head slowly. “I don’t want to be special. I want… I need something more concrete.” He looked up at the ceiling and then down at me. “Sweetheart…” I took his arms from around me and pushed him off. “I can’t afford to be your personal stripper, Cameron. I don’t only want to be there when you call for me. I want to have a key, I want my own draw, I want date nights, I want vacations, and I want a relationship. My days as a call girl are over; I have someone depending on me. I have to be that example.” He stared at me as if I caught him off guard. He stepped back and sat on the bed, placing his hands to his lips. “The minute we make this official, I will have to fire you.” He warned. The no dating policy. I nodded in understanding. “Well, then I guess whatever this is… it’s over then. I can’t think about myself, right now it’s all or nothing.” He took my hand in his and held it tight. His head was towards the floor until he looked up at me. I must have been really intoxicated because his eyes looked glazed and his face tortured. “Don’t… don’t end what…” he paused as if thinking about what he was going to say and then let out an exhausted sigh “all right” “All right?” I asked in clarification. “All right” He let go of my hand and stood to his feet. He straightened his suit and adjusted his tie. “How do I look?” he asked with a smirk. I stared at him in confusion but laughed it off quickly. I took his tie in my hand and straightened it properly. “Like a very rich man.” “Good” He smiled as he opened the cabin door. He turned to me before he left the room “you really shouldn’t be here, It’s unfair to the other employees. I really can’t play favourites, you understand that surely.” “Of course” I lied, completely thrown off guard. I guess he really does agree with all or nothing. And I am truly stuck with nothing. Fantastic. As he exited the room, I felt a cloud of regret float over my head. What the f**k did I just do… I found Sara and my shoes when I finally exited the cabin. “That was a fun party” Sara smiled as we made our way off the boat when we finally reached the docks. “Mhmm” I nodded as I replayed our embrace in the cabin just over an hour ago.
