"I don't understand why Ozzy and I have to go." I said to my mom.
"Olive, don't start. We are literally leaving right now, and we are already late." Mom replied.
I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms.
"Just give me one good reason why Ozzy and I have to go to this stupid Mate Week. We are mates, we found each other already, so why do we have to go?" I asked.
This is so stupid. Ozzy and I have known we are mates since we were kids. That's how it works with Fury's. We know the moment we see our mate, no matter the age. An orangey yellow ring of light flashes over our eyes and we just feel it.
Ozzy's parents and mine have been friends since before we were born. They spent some time apart though. When Ozzy and I were about five years old our parents had reconnected. My mom and Ozzy's dad are doctors, and my dad and his mom are scientists.
They opened up a sort of facility together. It's more of a hospital honestly. The hospital part is open for all creatures, including humans. In the basement is where the scientisty stuff happens. And this is secretly a safe haven for our people.
After some issues within the Fury community, our parents branched off and started their own coven. Or at least that's what they are calling it. We aren't very big, but big enough to make a standing I guess.
"You two have to go because we are going. Evie, Billy, your dad, and I are the founders of this coven. The Morningstar's helped us out with some things and then extended this invitation-" Mom started, but I interrupted her.
"And you accepted out of guilt?" I asked.
Mom shook her head and sighed.
"No. I told them no at first." She said.
"What changed?" I asked.
Mom sighed and turned to look at me. She was in the middle of gathering up all of our suitcases. Someone was going to come by and take them down to the main floor for us.
"Olive, I know that we have mainly kept to our own kind. That's how it's always been with Fury's. But times are changing. More and more of us aren't finding our mates. You and Ozzy were lucky, don't you want your friends to find that too?" She asked.
I averted my gaze to the floor and shrugged.
"I thought other species didn't mix well with us." I said.
"They don't, but maybe if we tried things could be different now." Mom said.
I sighed and rolled my eyes.
"That still doesn't explain why Ozzy and I have to go." I said.
"Because, we have to go because we are the face of this coven, the founders. And I will be damned if we let our teenage, mated children stay home for an entire week alone." Mom said with a glare.
"Now come on. I'm done having this conversation. We are going. Just be happy that Ozzy is coming too, we could have left one of you here." She said.
Groaning I followed her down to the main floor. We ended up taking our own bags and by we I mean, my mother made me carry both of ours down as punishment. Totally unfair.
They could have trusted Ozzy and I to stay here. It's not like we aren't already having s*x. Ozzy and I are careful. Not that I would tell our parents that though.
I looked at our reflections in the elevator doors as we waited for them to take us downstairs. Mom and I look exactly alike other than our eyes. We both have long thick dark brown hair.
Mom's is usually up though due to her work. Mine is normally always down hanging around me in its natural waves. My mother is a beautiful women. Not only because of her outter beauty, but the way she carries herself. I've always looked up to my mom. She's the strongest women I know.
Mom is in her usual not work attire. Which is still not casual. She has on a pants suit for christs sake. It looks great on her don't get me wrong, and the color looks stunning on her. It's red and she even has matching lipstick.
I looked down at my own clothes. A yellow and black plaid skirt with a thin white sweater. I have three necklaces on and rings on almost every finger. My hair is hanging around me almost curtaining my face. I looked up at my blurry reflection. I look good.
The elevator stopped and opened it's doors. I caught sight of my father first. He smiled brightly at my mother and me. The only thing I got from my dad are his dark brown eyes. His light brown hair is tied back in a low ponytail.
Dad has on a simple pair of jeans and a black band T-shirt from the 80s. He's very rock and roll. The moment we were close enough he engulfed Mom in a hug, pulling her close and kissing her lips. I rolled my eyes and scoffed.
"Hey you two, we got kids present." Billy called from the other side of the room.
I looked over to see Billy and Evie huddled against a wall. Billy has a baseball cap covering his golden blonde hair. His light brown eyes sparkle under the florsent lights.
Billy is dressed similarly to my dad with regular jeans and a red T-shirt that has a band I've never heard of on it. He has his arm slung around Evie who has a furious blush.
Evie is always blushing I swear. It looks adorable though. Probably because my mate looks just like her. Evie has freckles all over her pale skin making her look innocent. Her red hair is curly and wild, it's probably my favorite thing about her appearance. Evie's blue eyes matched my mates as well.
I sighed. I miss Ozzy. Where is he at anyways?
Just when I was about to ask, Ozzy came running through the main doors. This area is a back entrance to the facility. Only those of us that live here know about it. It acts more of a front lobby for the housing here.
"Hey, sorry I'm late. I almost forgot my phone charger." Ozzy said as he ran up to us.
He kissed the top of my head as he wrapped his arms around me. I beamed at him. Ozzy is my favorite person in the entire world. I mean, he is my mate but still. I couldn't imagine life without him. It's always been him and I.
Ozzy's red curly hair is sitting a mess on top of his head. His blue eyes sparkled as he looked at me. He gave me a dazzeling lopsided smile, and I nearly melted. Ozzy has on a pair of dark blue jeans and a dark green long sleeved shirt.
We live in the mountains of Idaho. Even in the summer months it gets a bit chilly. Being surrounded by moutains will do that to you. Because we are fire based creatures we like to stay warm. Honestly, part of me is excited to be going to such a warm state.
"Ready?" Ozzy asked me.
I frowned. "No, but I don't have a choice." I grumbled.
Ozzy chuckled at me. "Don't be mad. We can still have fun. I heard that there is supposed to be a lot to do." He said.
I rolled my eyes as we all shuffled out.
"At least our friends will be there." I said.
Ozzy winced. I know what he's thinking. He's thinking that he and I will have to do a lot of smoothing over for our age group during this trip. I'm not the only one who's salty that we have to go to this thing.
Fury's do not mix with other species. It's mostly our parents that are forcing this on us. I doubt any of them will really find their mates at this stupid event though.
"Come on you two. We have to make it to the airport, and everyone is already there waiting for us." Mom told us.
*********************************************
The drive to the airport was dumb. I'm in a sour mood. Which is normal but this is a bit worse than normal. Even when we borded the plane I was still acting like a child. Ozzy let me have the window seat, hoping that that would uplift my mood. It didn't.
Honestly, I felt really bad that I was acting like this. Here the Morningstar's were offering us a place in the society of the supernaturals. They are paying for our food and logging for an entire week, and are even having us picked up at the airport. And I'm acting like this is the worst trip ever, like an ungrateful brat.
"Do you think we'll be able to go to the ocean?" Ozzy asked me.
I turned and frowned at him. "Why would you want to go there?" I asked.
Ozzy chuckled at me. "You don't think it would be fun?" He asked.
I shook my head. "We are creatures of fire, and you think the ocean would be fun?" I replied.
"I think seeing you in a small bikini while you try to drown me would be a lot of fun." He whispered in my ear.
I smiled at him. "Maybe we can make that happen then." I said.
"Good thing I remembered to pack your bikini." He replied making me laugh.
Ozzy and I have no secrets, no boundaries. We simple are. We've been mates our whole lives pretty much. It's hard to turn that off. Our parents don't let us sleep in the same room, or even apartment, but we still spend every second we can together. Ozzy and I are lucky.
We know that.
"Aren't you two looking cozy." Lily said.
I looked up to see her turned in her seat and staring at us. Lily is one of my best friends. She's a native american Fury. Well, her dad is a human but her mom is a Fury.
"We are cozy thanks." I replied.
Ozzy chuckled. "You bored Lil?" He asked her.
Lily nodded. "I hate flying apparently." She groaned.
"Didn't you bring a book?" I asked her.
"I did, but it isn't helping. I'm so nervous, and like, for what? I'd rather die on this plane than go to this stupid mate thing." She said with an eye roll.
"I f*****g feel that." I grumbled.
Ozzy wrapped an arm around me, and kissed the side of my head. He knows I am not happy at all about this, but he was trying to make the best of it anyways. Ozzy told me that we had to remain passive to give the others hope. Just because he was okay with our friends having other species for mates, doesn't mean I am.
Thinking about it though, would it really be that bad? I looked up at my own mate. If Ozzy wasn't a Fury would I still want to be with him? Still love him?
Yes. Yes, I would. I'm positive that there would be nothing that would stop me from being with him. So maybe my parents had a point to going to this thing. And Ozzy was right about us making the best of it.
"I'll end my s**t if I have a mate that isn't a Fury." Lily said.
Josh, our other friend that is sitting next to her, scoffed.
"Your dad is a human." He stated.
"I know, but I'm so used to you angry bunch. I wouldn't know what to do with another kind of species." Lily replied.
I laughed at them as they continued to argue. Ozzy propped up a small travel pillow on his shoulder so that I could lay down. I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I knew, Ozzy was waking me up.
"Hey beautiful, we just landed." Came his sweet voice.
My eyelids fluttered open. People are already getting off the plane. Ozzy helped me straighten myself up before standing and helping me up. We exited the plane, and all met up in the lobby of the airport.
"Ataina Morningstar said that she was sending a driver with a bus for us." My mom told the group. "Look around for some kind of sign."
"Here." Josh announced.
We all looked to where he was pointing to see a man standing and holding a sign that says 'Fury'.
"Do they not care about outting us to the humans?" I asked angrily.
Ozzy chuckled. "Because that is exactly where the human's minds are going to go." He teased.
"Well, what about the other supernaturals. They could attack us." I argued.
Now it was my dad who laughed.
"Please Olive, like anyone would mess with a group of Fury's." He said and walked to the man. "Hey there, I think we are who you are looking for." Dad said to the man.
The man is a huge blonde haired man. And I do mean huge. He must body build as a damn job. His blonde hair is cut short and styled. The man's blue eyes are so deep I swear you could get lost in them. He gave my dad a warm smile, and held his hand out to him.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Ambrose Morningstar." He introduced himself.
My eyes went wide. I know that we were invited by a Morningstar, and will most likely meet more than just one, but he just.. Seems so kind and warm. I thought that Morningstar's are supposed to be evil.
"Atiana sent a Morningstar here to chauffeur us around?" Billy asked with a laugh.
Ambrose chuckled. "She has most of our BOC members helping out back at the school. Tia didn't want you guys to be without protection, so she asked me to come." He told us.
"And you are supposed to be able to protect all of us?" I asked rather snidely.
"Olive." Mom scolded quietly.
Ambrose chuckled again.
"No, it's okay. It is kind of weird they only sent one person to protect you guys." He told me. "But I promise that I can handle anything."
I looked him up and down and crossed my arms.
"Yeah whatever." I grumbled.
Ambrose led us out to the parking lot where there was a school bus waiting. Seriously, a school bus. I rolled my eyes. All the guys took our bags and started to load them through the back. The rest of us got on the bus and took our seats.
Honestly, there isn't a lot of us. There are only seven kids in total. Me, Ozzy, Lily, Josh, Ethan, Caroline, and Elis. Josh, Lily, and Elis have younger siblings, but none of them came. They were all deemed too young to search for a mate.
Then there are a few unmated adults in our 'coven', but there's only six of them in total. Most didn't want to come. As for parents, it was just mine and Ozzy's that came. Everyone else stayed back. So really our group consisted of 17 people.
After the guys were done they got on the bus as well. Ozzy took the seat next to me and I leaned into him. I wish we were home right now. We would be having dinner together, or making out.
"Stop pouting baby." Ozzy told me.
"I can't help it." I whined out. "I don't want to go."
"It's too late for that love, you might as well cheer up. I don't want to see you sad all week." He told me.
I pulled away so that I could look in his face.
"How are we even supposed to get any alone time this week?" I asked.
Ozzy smiled and shook his head.
"You're worried that you won't get to c*m?" He asked me quietly.
My face heated. "I like it when you make me cum." I said with a pout.
Ozzy chuckled and leaned in closer to me. I held my breath. Even after all this time together he still makes me weak in the knees. I still get butterflies when he gets this close to me. Ozzy is my comfort and my excitement.
"Don't worry baby, we can sneak off somewhere I'm sure." He whispered in my ear.
The rest of the ride to the school was long. I was getting fidgetty. Ambrose made conversation with mine and Ozzy's dads the whole way. I actually like the big guy. He's sweet and polite.
It was very late by the time we arrived at the school. The property here is beautiful. I love that it's tucked into the woods, and that it's gaurded. That means no one who isn't supposed to be here, won't be.
Despite that it's almost midnight, there are tons of people around. I guess some of them probably found their mates already. There are all kinds of creatures here. Demons, Fae, Fairies, Vampires, Witches, and Werewolves. I found myself growing intrigued instead of scared. They look like they're having fun.
A young blonde women was waiting for us when we got there. She introduced herself as Atiana Morningstar. I was shocked that this was her. She looks so young, and small. Sure, she's tall but she's so skinny.
Atiana lead us through the school to a hallway full of doors.
"I know that it's late and you probably don't want to mingle now, would you like me to have some food brought up to you?" She asked.
I nodded before anyone else could say anything.
"Please, I am starving." I told her.
Atiana nodded. "I'll have something brought up. This hallway is full of rooms for you. No one else is down this way either. I know you guys are used to your privacy so I tried to respect that the best I could." She told us.
"Wait," Lily started. "We each have our own room?" She asked.
Atiana nodded. "You can share if that's what you want, but yes."
Lily squealed, and started to jump up and down.
"Thank you Atiana, I think we are all set for the night." Mom told me.
Atiana offered my mother a small smile before walking off. What a strange girl. It's like she had no emotion in her at all. Maybe she's just professional.
The four adults took a room on each side of the hallway in the middle. The rest of us were allowed to chose. Ozzy picked the room next door to mine. He smiled and gave me a wink before entering his room.
This should make sneaking around a bit easier.
