NAINA
I woke up after hearing the ring of my phone. With my eyes still closed, I extended my hand to the side table near the bed to grab my phone. Without looking at the screen, I answered the call and said, "Who?" I was sure whoever the person might be on the other end would have heard my sleepy rough voice.
"Are you still sleeping?" The owner of the voice from the other end said.
"Yes? Who are you?" I wanted to open my eyes, but my body was not supporting my decision.
"O my God, Naina! Wake the hell up." And with that, I sat upright with a jerk, only to discover that it was my mom on the other end.
"Yes, mom? I am awake!" I said in a hushed voice.
"Where is Pearl?" She asked directly.
