The odd environment
Just when Haiden is still young, he noticed some strange things and an odd environment surrounding him. He observed that things were lively yet filled with some sad vibes around them. He saw some mysterious creatures and the area feels like sprinkled with gloomy village folks. Haiden used to live in the city and after his father died and his mom left him with his grandparents, he resided in a small village where his grandparents used to live, everything there was olden, including the folk's culture. Houses were made of wood and the village is much like a forest. He was 6 years old at that time when his father died and was celebrating his 7th birthday when he got abandoned by her mom and left him with his grandparents.
Two weeks after he got resided in the small village, his grandfather died cause of a heart attack. He was sad but his grandmother wasn't like mourning the death of his grandfather. Days have gone yet none went to visit his Grandfather's funeral. Things get creepy each night and days were like sundown.
Even at a young age, he could notice that something's wrong in the village.
"Grandma, why everyone's sad? but the forest is happy" Haiden Asked his grandmother.
His grandmother then replied, "It was the village that makes them sad."
Other than those words, his grandma didn't tell him more. He tries to understand what it meant but couldn't analyze those thoroughly.
"Is the forest bad grandma?" Haiden asked.
His grandmother just stared at him and didn't reply to the child.
He noticed the same gloomy aura of the village each day. Unlike in the city, the village's forest is lively yet the folks there weren't. Months have passed.
"Grandma, I'm hungry," He said to his grandmother who was still laying on the bed at 12:00 P.M
"Grandma, grandma, grandma" He repeatedly called out to his grandmother and tried to wake her up. He stopped tapping his grandmother and just stared at her for a while and just when he was about to scratch his itchy left hand with his right arm, he noticed that there's blood on his palm.
He was terrified and immediately went to the closet to fetch a towel to wipe away the blood from his right hand.
"Haiden, the food is ready"
He heard someone calling out to him from the kitchen.
"Grandma!? Is that you?" Haiden replied to whosoever called him.
The grandma then went near Haiden and repeated her words.
"Come here, the food is ready."
Haiden looked back to the bed and saw that his grandma who was in a deep slumber wasn't there anymore.
He hid his right arm at his back so that his grandma couldn't see the splash of bloodstain on his hands.
"What are you hiding sweetie?" The grandma asked.
He just shook his head and answered, " I am not hiding anything grandma."
The grandma then walked towards him to take him with her to the kitchen to eat.
"Oh my little boy, let's eat now."
The grandma held him on his right arm, he was afraid that his grandma noticed the blood in his hand just when he observed that the blood was also gone, even in the towel he used to wipe and held with his hand were still clean.
They immediately went to the kitchen to eat.
"Grandma, I did roam nearby the house and got to see some villagers passing by, I didn't saw some kids here, am I the only young person living in the village? The people here were at the same age as you're grandma but the time when I am about to get back home to eat cause I am hungry, I saw from afar...Uhm...the part of the village that hasn't resided yet, I saw someone there who is as small as I am, I couldn't see him clearly because of the trees shaded the child's face but I know that is a kid too, I thought of going near the kid to make friends with him but she ran away deep inside the woods." Haiden narrated to his grandma while eating.
The grandma didn't answer what his grandson asked him. She just stared at the child and showed a big smile.
The hungry child didn't wait for her grandma to answer his question and continued eating, he wasn't able to ask his grandma after they were done eating since he forgot to. The child sat on the bench outside the house and rested for few minutes since he is full from eating much. The grandma then followed him and sat on the bench next to him. The child roams his sight on the surroundings and later observes the change in it.
"Grandma, why is the place isn't the same earlier? I am unfamiliar with everything about it now, does the forest changes itself?" Haiden asked his grandma who was both confused and curious about things.
"No Haiden, the forest can't change itself, you said earlier that you roam around the place? Then you are still unfamiliar with the surroundings nearby our house?" The grandma replied.
Haiden listened carefully to his grandma's words. He tried to remember the place but everything was odd and unfamiliar to him, he was sure that it wasn't the place he used to roam earlier.
Earlier he got to roam a flat terrain with forest woods from both sides but the present surrounding they were seeing was none other than an empty valley, trees weren't seen everywhere and the plain ground was filled with big rocks.
He looked at his grandma and met his grandma's gaze. He wanted to explain what he remembered but kept it to himself since he does want her grandmother to repeat her words saying that he wasn't telling the truth and that the place looks normal. He just smiled at her grandma and scratched her head because of his confused memory and mind.
"Grandma, I will roam around and play here." He said as he stood up and walk to roam around the new environment.
