Chapter 05

L e a n d e r

"I will never let them hurt you. Not anyone, not your father. " A woman in a white lab coat said while hugging me so tight.

She was warm and I felt so comfortable despite her hatred emotions in her voice. I didn't want to let go of her embrace so I wrapped my arms around her, wanting to stay inside her arms.

A loud bang sounded like a door being opened forcefully and she hugged me tighter and I felt her body go stiff for a second.

"You never did anything useful to this family! After giving birth to omega children, you hide in your lab and do your useless research! "

I closed my eyes as the woman hugged me even tighter and I could hear the man whipping the woman who was hugging me.

"Don't be afraid." She whispered. "They can't hurt you. I won't let them."

I was woken up from dreaming when someone tapped my shoulder. My heart was beating fast.

"Your quarantine time's over."

I saw the familiar dark room and a familiar voice woke me up.

It was Tilden.

I stood up and walked after Tilden outside that dark room. After we exited the electrical room, he grabbed my arm and I squinted my eyes when he ripped the bandage on my cut so casually and scanned it before he nodded his head and let go.

"Let's go take a bath." Tilden said.

I sighed in relief when I heard bath. I didn't feel dirty while we were inspecting the building back at S-zone but after waking up, I felt sticky and never imagined that I was carrying this nasty smell around. I was aching to scrub my whole body thoroughly.

I walked after Tilden inside that dormitory and then climbed the stairs up to the second floor.

"The dormitory rooms are already full. Some rooms are occupied with three to five people inside. You're lucky, you've got to share with me. " He said and winked at me making me frown.

What's so lucky about sharing a room with him? I thought but I never bothered to say it. I just wanted a proper bath.

Tilden stopped in front of a door and opened it. It was an empty room with only a blanket on a double-sized bed. Tilden picked a brown towel that was hung on a plastic chair and handed it to me and pointed to a door inside the room which I think was the bathroom.

"Go take a bath. This is the only room where you can take a bath all you want. So you're lucky. "

I grabbed the towel and went inside the door after saying thank you.

It was a small restroom where a small section had a lavatory in front of a square mirror, a toilet in front of the lavatory, and the rest of the space was for the shower area.

I hastily removed my smelly and sticky clothes and stepped under the shower. I stayed under the water until I felt clean, thoroughly lathering the soap on my body three times.

I just noticed as I tried to wash my hair that it was tied with a thin rubber band all this time. My hair was a little above my shoulder and I thoroughly scratched it clean again and again under the shower.

I never felt so clean after that long shower and went out of the restroom with a towel around my waist just when Tilden stepped inside the room, bringing with him some clothes.

I could see his surprised look for a second when he saw me. Well, I, too, was surprised with my appearance because it was my first time seeing myself in the mirror. I have a small face that screams omega, black eyes and hair. All I could say was that I was damn handsome.

"Here. Your change of clothes." Tilden handed me the folded clothes.

"Thanks." I said and was stunned seeing the shorts.

"Are you kidding me?" I turned to Tilden who was rummaging in his backpack and held the tights in his direction.

"What is this?"

Tilden glanced at the small, stretchable, light, and spandex material.

"Those are tights, wait let me give you a pair of underwear too." He said as he searched in his bag. "Here!"

Is he serious!?

I frowned as he tossed a clean dark blue briefs to me.

"Don't complain about the clothes. It's hard to search for extra clothes from the civilians here since we all prioritize looking for food to live, and don't worry I washed that underwear. I only wore that once. "

He winked and I immediately let go of the underwear.

" Are you fvcking serious!? " I exclaimed, my cheeks burning up.

Did he plan to let me wear his used briefs?

He's seriously mad!

"Or you can wear those tights without underwear. Up to you." He said and laid down on the bed and closed his eyes.

It was impossible to wash my clothes from how it was soiled by those zombie bloods and it smelled so bad.

" After you dress up, we'll go down for dinner. " Tilden said without opening his eyes.

"These clothes are impossible!" I exclaimed.

I was glad that the shirt was large with my frame so it covered half of my thighs. I also tied back my hair because I would look delicate with my small face and fair skin if I let my hair down.

Tilden and I went down for dinner and all eyes were on us because they already started eating. We stood at the end of the line with Tilden behind me and I glanced at the food.

Rice and soup vegetables.

I was surprised that they still had enough rice to feed everyone there.

Tilden's squad was together at a small table and Gareth almost choked on his food when he saw us approaching.

I was aware of those eyes on me but I disregarded it as I went after Tilden while carrying my dinner.

I was amused at their surprised faces, especially Marie, who nudged on her seat to give me space to sit.

"Damn!" Marie exclaimed. "Leander? How come your skin's smoother than mine?" She said and I could hear jealousy in her voice. "Who would have thought a gem was hiding behind the dust and debris on your face this morning? How come you didn't grow pimples after that? So smooth."

Chan chuckled who was beside her. "You're a soldier and an Alpha."

"What's that to do with my skin? Damn, I better raid some skincare places and look for overnight masks." She looked at me and quirked her brows. "Wanna go with me?"

I only realized that I was surrounded by Alphas. Everyone at that table were Alphas except for me who was an Omega and I was thankful that the inhibitor I used was powerful enough and I read that it would last for three months which gave me enough time to look for another supply but I bought an extra one with me in case.

"No need." I answered and she pouted her lips while looking at my face dreamily.

I ate my dinner silently and saw a glimpse of Gareth whispering to Tilden and I could feel their stares on me.

I guess it would be a sin to be this handsome.
