******FLASHBACK******
After almost a year of being in a long-distance relationship due to work, I decided to surprise her. I had a spare key, so I just let myself in.
The living room was dimly lit, and I noticed a box of half done pizza laying on the kitchen counter with two almost empty glasses of wine.
Maybe she had a friend over for a sleepover, so I decided to wait till day break when they woke up to avoid an awkward situation.
I don't want to walk in on two naked women asleep as I know some ladies almost never sleep with clothes on.
It was day break, but they were yet to wake up, so I decided to go wake them up myself. Then I heard a familiar laughter. As I got closer to the door, the voices became clear.
“You know I don't love him. I'm just doing this for you,” Camille chuckled.
“Call it off then. We can't be hiding. We're not kids, you know,” a male voice responded.
The door was slightly ajar, and through the gap, I saw them. My cousin, Fidel, and Camille tangled up together all cosy.
I pushed the door open in anguish. “Camille! Fidel!!”
*****PRESENT DAY****
Calling her name again in the same manner almost made me puke. “What are you doing here?” I asked firmly.
“Baby,” she started, her eyes filled with tears.
“Don't call me that. Go straight to the reason you're here,” I quickly interrupted.
“Jaden! I….I'm sorry. I was coerced,” she tried approaching me for a hug, but I hastily avoided it.
I had my hands trapped in my pocket cause I'm aware of how dramatic she could be. She's good at emotional blackmail.
“If that's all you came to do. You can leave now. I don't have any more time to waste,” she grabbed my legs and went on her knees, but all that didn't matter to me.
I pushed her aside by swinging my legs and turned to take my leave. “Jaden please, don't leave me. It was a mistake.”
“B***h! What was a mistake, f**king my cousin or telling him you don't love me, huh?" I said in rage.
I tried my best to ignore and stay calm, but saying it was a mistake was crossing the line this time. Cheating is never a mistake.
I left her apartment four years ago without saying a word, and she never tried to reach out. What suddenly changed.
“Take your filthy self out of my garden so you don't kill the flowers,” I said impassively, trying to calm down. I don't waste my time or rage on low-lifers.
“Matteo!!” I yelled, drawing the attention of my security guards.
“Sir,” he came running almost immediately.
“Get this thing off my garden,” I said with authority and turned my heels.
“That's one way to ruin my morning,” I murmured. I went straight to where my car was parked and got in. Nadia has been waiting with the driver.
“You have breakfast with the Lee's by 8:30, a board meeting by 10am, and a meeting with the media department by 1:30 pm,” Nadia read out my schedule, her tone efficient.
"Thanks, Nadia," I replied, settling into the seat. "Let's get going.”
***Dalma's POV******
“s**t I'm late,” I hurried out of my bed and into the bathroom for a quick shower. Damian was still asleep, but he was also late for pre-school.
Way to make a good impression on the asshole I have as a boss.
We both got prepared and quickly headed out. I dropped him off at school, telling his teacher to be extra mindful of him, as I know the event of last night must have jarred him.
On my way to work, my phone rang. “Hello, good morning,” I said in a rush.
“Hey, It's Kira from work. I got your number from the register. You're pretty late for your first day. We have a meeting with the manager and I covered for you. Please get here as soon as possible,”
“Sure I will, thank you,” I was sincerely grateful. I had a bad habit of going late for my lectures, and here I am now passing it down to work.
I rushed down to the office. Good thing the car didn't break down on the road. As I ran through the gliding doors,I noticed the office was already bustling with clients chatting here and there. Just how late was I?
I continued walking quickly down the lobby, not minding who was around.
Shit!
The elevator was occupied, and I couldn't wait, so I had to take the long way up.
I ran upstairs, my breath coming in quick gasps as I took two steps at a time. My mind was racing with thoughts of the meeting I was already late for.
As I rounded the corner on the third floor, I didn't see anyone till I ran into a hard wall.
I had my eyes fixed on the staircase so I dont miss my step. I didn't know where the wall came out from. As I lifted my head up, then finally, I realised….
