Chapter 2 Interview Selections

Rebecca's POV "Come on guys, it's time to get going." I project my voice through the house as I hear shuffling upstairs. I casually walk into the kitchen as my husband is finishing up the dishes. "Hey Handsome, I'm just going to drop the kids off at school and head over to the interview.. but the 1st one took 4 hours, and that included waiting for my name to be called.. so if by some miracle I get out early, we should meet up for lunch." I say as he smirks at me, "Awe, you miss me already, it's because I'm doing the dishes, right?" He says, kissing me. I giggle into his lips as I state as if it's just a matter of fact, "I do like you doing this cleaning, but I like you no matter what you're doing.. you can make anything look good." He smiles down at me as he softly says, "I would love lunch with you even if we have to do a late one.. just let me know when you're done, and we will meet up." I smile and nod at him. "I love you, Jerbear. I'll talk to you soon... hopefully.. wish me luck." I say as he responds, "You don't need any luck Becca, you got this." I nod, leaning in and giving him one last kiss before turning around on my heels and heading to the front door. Both the kids are quickly making their way down the stairs, sounding like a stampede that is going to run me over at any moment. "Bye, dad!" They yell at him as he yells back, "I don't think so. Get your asses in here and give me a hug! School is never more important than family to us." They look at me as I gesture for them to go in the other room to give him a hug. They run in saying their goodbyes and coming back to my side as I open the door for them so we can head out. We pile into my vehicle and buckle up. I start the car as the kids keep trying to change the radio station.. Katie with her pop and Eddie with his rock. "Mom, tell Eddie I got here first, so I get to pick!" Katie demands as I scoff and reply instantly. "Um, no way, it's my birthday, Kitty. I'm listening to what I want." They both huff, crossing their arms as I change the station to a reggae sounding station. I just want to relax today as much as possible, and that type of music always helps me with that. We drive in a comfortable soft reggae moment as I pull up to the side next to their school property. I come to a stop as I hear the unclicking of the seat belts and the loud unison yell of, "Happy birthday momma love you." ..."Love you too, have a great day, guys!" I yell back just in time before the door shuts. I pull out and drive across the traffic-covered downtown to get to my destination. There is so much traffic that I was afraid I was going to be late or get into a wreck.. but either way, it would not be good.. I notice the clock keeps ticking as my anxiety rises at the thought of being late, I really hope not because I'm sure that would automatically disqualify me as a candidate for the job. I try to speed up where I can, here and there, but it's not really working in my favor. I can see I'm driving up to another traffic jam after I just got out of one.. so I pull over in a spot I can park because I'm close enough to run to there, and hopefully, I won't be late. I grab my purse, phone, and keys, turning the car off and getting out. I get on the sidewalk and start walking quickly, getting my momentum and balance up to speed, to get to a run in these heels just so I hopefully don't hurt myself. I get to a good jog, not exactly running, but fast enough. I see the corner that the building is on as I quicken my pace and turn that corner just as quickly. I hit a brick wall of a manly muscular body that completely startles me, mostly because I just spilled his coffee all over him. I start to panic. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I was worried I was going to be late, and I was coming too fast around that corner. I'm so sorry, sir!" I say with so much apologetic worry in each word as I try to explain. "My shirt is ruined." This guy spats as I scoff and wave his comment off. I reach in my bag and pull out these wipes I have because I'm a mom, and I have the ultimate swiss army purse.. it's like some sort of magic trick to see what all I can pull out of my bag.. I wipe most of the coffee off as I pull out a tide stick and get the little bits of brown that aren't coming off. I watch the brown slowly fade away with the tide kicking in as I smile so big at the guy. "See, it's ok.. it's not ruined, but if you need to get it professionally cleaned, just send me the bill.. here's my card.. I'm so sorry for the inconvenience, but I need to get going sir, have a great rest of your day.. oh, and here is some money for a new coffee.. again, I'm sorry.. bye!" I say as I see him reach up and pull a piece of confetti out of my hair. I blush at that as I say softly, locking my gaze with his, "Thanks, had a fun birthday awakening." Hmmm, this man is really handsome, I guess I just didn't notice in such panic before, but he looks at me, up and down then humms as he says nonchalantly, "Happy Birthday" I smile a big gleaming smile as I state, "Thanks! Wish me luck!" I turn around running into the building to the front desk as they tell me what floor. I take the elevator up and get out of it quickly as I see the door is about ready to shut.. I rush over and burst into the room, explaining. "I'm so sorry I was here on time, but I accidentally ran into a man spilling his coffee on him, so I helped him clean it up and then ran in here as fast as I could." The man doing the interviews chuckles and says, "You're actually right on time, but it's nice to know how dedicated you are to this job already, along with the caring for others and your timeliness. What's your name?" He writes something down on his paper in his arms as I smile and nod, taking a seat at the table. "Thank you, sir. I'm Rebecca." "Alright, if you all don't know, my name is William Caspian, and I'm the one who owns all of Caspian Industries.. I like to make sure I have the right people working for us as a whole company.. so I always help with the hiring process.. um.. we are missing one main person, but I'm sure he should be here any minute.. he is always late.. which is why we are here.. But briefing on what we are looking for.. we are hiring for 2 assistants.. both will be personal, but one will be on the move, and one will be stationary here." He says as I raise my hand. He nods at me as I ask, "For the one on the move.. will it be actually moving to a different places or will it be just assisting around town and maybe traveling here and there?" "Ok I'm going to be honest, The stationary secretary will help out with the office here since our main girl is on maternity leave at the moment so we will figure out something for whoever gets hired after she comes back.. But the secretary that has to move around needs to be with my son. He needs someone to keep him on track and in line.. because he is always late and getting into things he shouldn't be.. so I need someone to watch him and reel him in since I obviously have too much on my plate to do so. So mostly around town but every now and then you will need to attend benefits and charities." William tries to explain as I just ask out of reflex. "If you need a babysitter, there are plenty you can hire." I say as if it's just obvious. William lets out an awkward laugh as he says, "Yes, I need a babysitter, but it's not what you think." He gets interrupted with the door opening behind us. We all turn around, and my eyes go wide. It's the handsome man I ran into and spilled coffee all over. "Here he is, the man of the hour, my 33 year old son, Tobias Caspian.. nice of you to finally show up... I'm sure you didn't read the briefing I sent you, which is why we are here... so I will explain so everyone knows exactly what's going on, and there is no way around this... My son is next in line to inherit my company, but he needs to get up to par.. I need one of you to keep him on track, doing whatever you need to, to make sure his schedule stays on track as well.. he needs to do these meetings, dinners, benefits, charities, and conferences.. He has for years had a problem with drugs, drinking, and sex.. and we need to break that habit now as best as we can.." William announces as Tobias scoffs and says, "You act like I have some awful problem, but it's just some fun. Get over it, Pops. I'm going to do what I want when I want." "Ok Toby, then tell me what day is today? If you don't have a problem and I know you did all those listed last night.. then you should have no problem telling me something as simple as that." William demands as we just stay quiet and wait in anticipation for his answer. A fake laugh fills the area from Tobias as he looks nervously around and says, as almost a question, "Monday?" William scoffs and says, "See, I knew it.. It's Thursday, Toby... now this is not under discussion you are accepting this assistant and you are going to prepare to take the company and if you don't then I will write you completely out of my Will and that does include the company and being cut off all together.. your choice.. what are you going to do? Get some help or be cut off?" Tobias rolls his eyes looking around the room as he locks eyes with me and gets a suprised look on his face, before he answers back reluctantly while still looking at me, "I will accept an assistant." William nods and suggests, "Ok, if you want, you can have your pick from the 6 here.. we have interviewed over 300 people and narrowed it down to these 6. They are all qualified and have open schedules." Tobias looks around the room between the 6 of us as he says nonchalantly, "Birthday girl." William looks confused as I ask out of suprise, "Me? Why?" "How do you know it's her birthday?" William asked Tobias in more of an accusing tone. So I answer for him. "This was the man I ran into and spilt his coffee on, so I helped him clean his shirt and he found confetti in my hair so I told him it was my birthday and that's why I had that in my hair." William nods at my explanation and then looks at Tobias, "She is who you want?" Tobias, still locked into my gaze, says, "Well yea, she worked very well coming up with multiple solutions, under pressure, and solved my issue in no time at all and was respectful the whole time.. it seems only logical. We will see if Birthday Girl can handle it." "It's Rebecca, and all I have to say is bring it on." I say with so much sass as he smiles and says, "I'm calling you Beck.. I'll see you tomorrow morning, bright and early, Beck." He turns and walks out of the room as William says, "Ok well congrats Rebecca.. it's going to be a hard job, but if you're dedicated, I will make sure to compensate you for everything you might have to deal with when it comes to Toby.. Ok, we just need to get more information for paying you, and I will give you a folder with Toby's information . You will need to stick to his schedule that's also in there.. so wake him up, and no matter what, make sure he leaves his place and goes to these meetings. His address is in the folder as well. Thank you for your time and effort put in.. I'm glad it paid off for you... follow Jenn to the main office to get your information, and you can head home.. Happy birthday." He says, walking up and shaking my hand as I smile and say, "You won't regret this, Mr. Caspian, thank you." I turn and follow Jenn out to the other office, giving her all my information. I take the folder and leave with my things to get back to my car. Once I do, I pull out my phone and call my husband to tell him the good news. Jeremy picks up after the first ring like always. "Hey, birthday girl! You weren't in there for 4 hours, so I'm assuming that means things went well?" He asks, hesitantly anticipating my answer. "Yea.. I'm literally going to have to go Mom on this spoiled guys ass to get him into tip-top shape to inherit his father's company.. and he picked me because I accidently ran into him and spilt his coffee on him, but helped clean it up so he said I came up with multiple solutions for his problem and in good time, with full respect for him so he chose me." I explain so quickly in excitement. "Great job, Becca! I told you that you didn't need luck! I'm sure you can whoop that man's ass into shape in no time. Now let's get you some celebratory lunch!" Jeremy exclaims as I squeak back, "Yes, let's go to Kade's, that grill on the corner of 5th! I have always wanted to go there!" I say with just as much excitement. "Yes, perfect. I'll meet you there in 15 minutes, and that will give you a good amount of time. I call your work and tell them!" Jeremy retorts back to me. I forgot about my other work as bad as that sounds, but I do have to call them and take care of this. "You're right. I was so excited about this job. I completely forgot about my other one.. I will call them on the way. See you there, Jer." I say as I hang up the phone and dial my works number to just rip this off like a bandaid getting this done and over with. Tobias' POV I can't believe my father is practically paying for a babysitter for me.. I'm a grown man, and I can do what I want.. I don't know why he thinks this woman can change my point of view. I'm not going to give this woman the time of day. She is going to get a run for her money because I don't bend for anyone, no matter how beautiful and sweet she is. She ran straight into me, and I think I was more shocked by her beauty over the luke warm coffee on my shirt. Her big doe eyes glittered at me in a dark shade of chocolate brown like some hershey kisses with sparkles.. Her smile was stunning, making me want to smile no matter how mad I actually was. Even her skin looked glowing in a beautiful shade of a golden olive colored skintone. Her long dark hair made all of her features pop out even more.. Then she helped me flawlessly and even gave me money and her card just in case that didn't solve the problem.. she would take care of it later.. not knowing who I was, who would do that? I don't know how I feel about all this.. Because I like my fun and games and I don't have a problem but I do want this stuff all the time.. I want it. I don't need it. I'm having a beer thinking about everything today and trying to decide if I should get something to eat since I haven't ate since yesterday morning or if I should take that woman home and get my d**k wet. She has been eye f*#king me the entire time I have been in here. I hear a melodic, genuine laugh loudly making its way across the room, gaining my attention. I look over, and it's Beck with a handsome man who has a just as genuine smile on his face directed only at her. Of course, a wonderful catch like her would have a man.. It's not like it mattered anyway. I can get any woman I want, so I don't need her. Before I even know what I'm doing, I'm standing next to their table as Rebecca glances my way and gets a look of panic on her face. "Mr Caspian, it's good to see you, sir.. this is my husband Jeremy... Jer, this is the guy I spilled coffee on, but instead of being mad and sending me a bill for it, he has hired me.. thank you, by the way. I never got a chance to actually say thank you." She says, smiling so big at me, and I can't even be mad or hold my stern look on my face.. I feel it softening as I stare at her for a moment. "Jeremy, it's nice to meet you. My name is Tobias, but you both can call me Toby.." I say so politely out of nowhere. I continue on looking at Jeremy, "She harassed me and then made me feel better about it..as if it didn't happen in a minutes span of time.. it was interesting to watch, to say the least." Jeremy laughs and says, "Yup, that's my Becca! She is something else.. I don't know how I got so lucky to find her." He says, smiling at her with so much love in his eyes that I can't help but feel jealous. Who knew I could even feel these types of feelings.. I have never been the jealous type ever.. I just drop it and go on to the next. "No, Jer, I'm lucky you found me, my knight in shining armor." She says playfully as they both giggle at their inside joke. "Well, I just had to come say hi before I really start my night." I say a little spitefully for some reason.. it just came out like that. "Well, sir, don't get too wild and crazy I have to be at your place bright and early tomorrow." Rebecca says warning me of what's to come but I wave it off and say, "You're not getting paid yet Beck, so I won't listen to you at least until then but maybe, not even after. We will have to see how I feel." I say back as Jeremy starts to laugh at my explanation, making me get a curious look on my face as my eyebrows scrunch. "Man, you don't know what you're getting into she is as stubborn as they come and doesn't normally take no for an answer... so good luck with that.. but it was nice meeting you. Have fun tonight because you're in for it tomorrow." Jeremy says so playfully as Rebecca smacks his arm and says. "Don't say that baby, he could just fire me right now! Like he said, I'm not getting paid yet." "Oh, you don't need to worry about that, Beck. I'll give you plenty to quit over.. challenge accepted.. game on, let's see if you can level up." I say, walking away from their table and back to my stool.
