Chapter Six My night with Pierre in Jeremiah’s dungeon does nothing but amplify my mixed emotions about the man. They run hot and cold. The mystery of him taunts me, while his expectations exhaust me. I didn’t want a relationship this defining or complex. I just want my life, and suddenly I’m thinking only of Pierre. I don’t see him for several days, and that’s good. I’m sure I’d only make a fool of myself, stumbling all over my words with my internal chaos even more apparent than before.
