CHAPTER 12 As she traveled to the village, on the card was the matter of who she will accept amongst Paul’s kinsmen as her new husband. On this, Nancy has made up her mind not to yield any ground regardless of pressure from her in-laws. It is no to the idea of another marriage. She also wanted to use the visit to thank her in-laws, especially the women who stood by her during the difficult time of Paul’s death. So as part of the preparation for the visit to the village, she bought two bags of rice and ten bags of salt to be shared among the women. She arrived the village in the evening with her two daughters. Immediately she arrived, the news spread round the village like a bushfire in the harmattan that Paul’s widow has come from the city with lots and lots of gifts for the women.
