CHAPTER 14
Peter secured a two-bedroom apartment for Nancy. It was very tough getting the accommodation as most of the landlords were not ready to rent out their accommodation to single women. There was even a special abhorrence for widows as some of the landlords hold the view that they (widows) could provide abode for all shades of men. Nancy was not aware of the fact that Peter, the estate agent, lied to the landlord that she was his second wife. It was solely on this basis that the landlord agreed to rent out the apartment.
Peter told the landlord that Nancy was a widow and in keeping with tradition he, the estate agent, was the one chosen by his kinsmen to re-marry Nancy. The landlord asked Peter, if he will be able to cope with the demands of two wives. Peter responded that
