The ring of the doorbell woke me up. I was the only one at home. Aunt Cassie was working late at the hospital. Kyle and Jack were at Brandon's, Kyle's friends place. Joey was back to boarding school. Uncle Jack, was probably still at the office.
I had changed into my pyjamas which consisted of a knicker and a short sleeved top. I threw the covers to the side and got down from the bed. I could hear soft platters hitting the roof of the building. It was raining. I didn't even know when the rain had started.
I padded down the stairs barefooted to the front door. I wondered who it was as everyone living in that house knew there was a spare key under the foot mat outside. I opened the door and my jaw slacked with my mouth open. I was surprised by what was stood in front of me.
