The wedding was absolutely beautiful. It was dark and s****l, exactly the way I liked it. As the priest read from his books, I wasn't able to really focus. I tried my best to focus on it, but knowing that Alias was watching me the whole time was the reason. Every time I glanced in his direction, my eyes would always travel to him. My friend, Mia stood behind me, poking and chuckling as low as she could.
"Alias likes you." She whispered to me.
"From what I heard, he's not interested." I whispered back. "Is he gay or something?"
I glanced at Mia, who just stared at me with wide eyes. When I turned my attention to Alias, he squinted his eyes at me.
"He heard you." Mia told me.
I covered my mouth and Alias just stared at me, shaking his head in the process. I didn't mean to say what I said, but that's how I felt. He wasn't flirtatious at all when we were alone. I thought he would hit on me or something, but no. I didn't get anything like that. So, it made me think otherwise. But, from the way he looked at me, it was obviously wrong.
"Wow, he can actually hear me." I whispered to my friend.
"Now, you definitely need to make it up to him," Mia snickered.
"I'm not having s*x with him if that's what you're thinking. I don't even know him like that."
"Sure you aren't. Alias is.... He's sexy and on top of that, his family own their own business. I would be on that."
"Then, you jump on his d**k and ride the train to whatever fantasy you want to believe."
"I would, but there's someone else I'm interested in."
I glanced at the groomsmen and they were all staring at me and gossiping in a low tone.
"Don't act like you don't like the attention." Mia whispered.
"I don't." I told her. "It makes me nervous."
"Whatever. I say it's your fault."
I glanced behind her and she smirked at me.
"You're gorgeous." Mia whispered at me.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife." The priest said. "You may now kiss your bride."
I turned back to the front and clapped as the newly wed couple kissed, passionately in front of their friends and family.
"What now?" I asked Mia.
"We changed for the reception which is in a hour. Don't worry, I have a dress for you."
The bride and groom walked down the aisle and groomsmen walked down the aisle with their hands extended out to us. I walked down first and I connected my hand with Alias, then we walked down the aisle after the maid of honor and the best man. When we left the main hall, I turned my attention to Alias.
"I'm sorry." I told him.
"For what?" He asked me. "Insulting me in front of everybody? I'm sorry, but f**k your apology."
He released my hand and walked off in the other direction. Haven't been here for a good two hours and I had already pissed Alias off. I sighed and walked off to where Mia was. She was talking to Kain and his bride.
"Your wedding was so beautiful." She told them. "I could only imagine what the reception looks like."
"Thank you so much." The bride said. "I'm happy you were able to come."
I stood by Mia's side and groaned.
"Remind me to never talk again." I sighed. "I had pissed off your son and got him to say 'f**k you' to me."
Kain laughed and his wife smiled at me.
"Our son will get over it." She told me. "He's just upset."
"But, he's not gay." His mom told me.
"He's.... Far from that tree." Mia said.
"Yeah, I figured when he glared at me during the wedding."
I crossed my arms over my chest and sighed again.
"Are you coming to the reception?" Kain asked me.
"I don't even know." I told him. "I feel I upsetted him and he'll probably find a new dance partner."
"Well, if he doesn't dance with you, then can I take his spot as your partner?" A guy asked as he walked up.
He resembled Kain a lot. He flashed a gorgeous smile and extended his hand out to me.
"I might take you up on that offer." I smiled back at him.
"What's your name?"
"Jesslyn. And you?"
"Ayden."
"Nice to meet you."
'Same to you."
"Ayden, we're going to depart." Kain said. "I want you and your brother prepared and at the reception thirty minutes before."
"I will." Ayden said, then he turned back to me. "I'll see you later?"
"Of course." I told him.
He nodded and walked off. I glanced at Mia, who smirked at me the whole time.
"Excuse us, ladies." Kain said to us. "We must leave."
Kain nodded his head at us and they walked off. Mia turned to me and sighed.
"Are you ready to go?" She asked me.
"Yeah." I told her.
We turned around and walked off as well. Like everyone else, we left the chapel.
***
"Wow." I said as soon as we approached he reception location.
"That's what I'm saying!" Mia exclaimed.
The mansion was bigger than what I normally saw. As we waited patiently for the gates to open up for us, I directed m attention to ia.
"How do you know these people?" I asked her.
"Well, Kain is the one who opened up the blood banks out here and around the US. He's working on the foreign countries as well like Australia and Italy. Alias and Ayden are his two sons."
"I see that. They resemble him so much. So, who was the other guy they were talking to?"
"Adonis."
I raised an eyebrow at her.
"So, he's the one you're so crazy for?"
"I don't get crazy for just anybody." Mia said.
"Of course you don't."
We were finally able to get through the gate. I could not help, but to stare at the magnificent mansion that stood before me that evening. Even Mia gasped when she saw it. It was something we weren't used to. Mia parked the car and we both got out the car.
"Holy shit." Mia said. "This is their house?"
"Wait, they live here?" I asked her. "Everyone of them?"
"No, the guys have their own house."
"What are they, billionaires?"
"Yes, Kain made sure his boys kept their money up. No slacking off and no sitting at home on their asses. Kieran did the same thing to Adonis."
"Wow, I like that. He knew how to raise them."
Mia chuckled, putting her arm around me.
"That's what I said." She said in a low tone. "Anyways, you look good in that dress. I'm so happy Cece didn't come."
"Why did she not show?" I asked.
Mia glanced up at the stairs and I looked in the same direction. Adonis, Ayden and Alias all stood there wearing a black and red attire. When we got to the top, Ayden was the first one to whistle at us.
"Wow, Jesslyn." Ayden said, checking me out. "You look so damn good."
"Thank you." I said, then I turned to Alias.
He just glanced at me before he walked off. I sighed and Adonis chuckled.
"You hurt little Alias's feelings?" He asked me.
"I made a mistake and he's acting like a f*****g child." I sighed.
I turned to Ayden, who was watching his brother as well before he turned to me.
"Don't worry; you can always hang out with me." Ayden said, smiling at me.
I smiled back at him and nodded. That was until Alias walked back over to us and grabbed my hand. He pulled me away from Ayden and I was in complete shock. He pulled me away The music being played created a vampire vibe. The violinist made sure of it.
"Alias, I'm in heels." I said as we walked past the huge crowd of people eating and drinking.
He said nothing. We got to an empty room in the back and he guided me in it. As soon as he closed the door, he snapped his attention to me.
"You're going to need to stop insulting me." He told me. "It's irritating hearing you dog me in front of my people."
"I'm sorry." I said, completely thrown by his demanding voice. "I said one thing and it was a complete turn for the worst. Then, you ignore me and I'm supposed to be dancing with you, tonight."
"You called me 'gay' in front of everybody. My parents heard you, my stupid ass brother heard you and my cousin did. Not to mention the vampires who were in their seats. So, don't give me that shit."
"I said I was sorry, Alias. What more do you want from me?"
He checked me out, then a smirk appeared on his face.
"You know what?" He asked me. "I don't want s**t from you."
"Are we still dancing together? I still remember ever-."
"No."
My eyes widened when he said that.
"What do you mean 'no'?"
"I'm not dancing with you."
"Alias, I'm supposed to be your dance partner. That's why I came here to the reception."
"I can find somebody else."
"Maybe I should leave, then."
He moved closer to me, forcing me back against the golden white walls. He pressed his body against mines and I turned my head to the right. His warm breath tickled the tiny hairs on my neck and it sent immediate chills down my spine.
"You can go as you please." He whispered to me. "See if I care."
"Fine." I told him and walked off. "I'll just take your brother as my dance partner."
I pushed him away from me and walked towards the door. When I grabbed the door handle, he pulled me back to him.
"So, he asked you?" He asked me.
"Yeah, he did. And I told him I would since you just turned me down."
I tuned the door handle and opened it. When I walked out, he followed behind me, but then he passed me up. Mia walked over to me with her attention focusing on Alias.
"What's wrong?" I asked her.
"Nothing." I told her "Is everything okay?"
"Yeah. Well, I guess I didn't have to come here."
I glanced back over at Alias, who was standing next to Adonis. He was talking to him about something. It had to be about me because Adonis glanced my way Of course, I thought to myself.
"Where's Ayden?" I asked her.
"He stepped outside for a second."
"Okay, I'll be back."
I left Mia's side and walked out of the mansion. I scanned the whole area until I saw Ayden walking from the parking lot. He glanced up from his phone and smiled when he saw me.
Waiting for me?" He asked.
"Actually, I just came out." I chuckled.
He stopped in front of me and we stared at each other for a minute.
"Is everything okay?" He asked.
"Um, I was wondering.. If that dance was still available? Your brother ditched me just now."
"Yeah, of course. I was just checking the time and the dance is going to start in thirty minutes."
"Perfect."
We walked back inside the mansion and the both of us headed into the main area that I would call a living room and a dining room combined. There was catering all around and the caterers stood there, waiting to serve people. I heard a hearty chuckle and I glanced by the stairs. A big woman wearing a beautiful dress, walked over to us.
"Ayden, I haven't seen you for a while." She said. "You look just like your father."
"Well, I did come from him." Ayden told her, then he turned to me. "Jesslyn, this is my father's coworker, Joanne."
"Nice to meet you." I said to her.
"Hm, I see the mortal and vampire relationships are allowed in your family."
"I prefer mortals over vampires." Ayden told her. "They.. Do things to me that vampires can never do."
"And what's that?"
"They f**k better."
Whoa, I thought to myself. Ayden nodded his head at Joanne before he grabbed my hand and led me over to the dance floor. Alias was around as well and he did as he said he would. He was going to dance with another Not that I cared, though. He wasn't my man, so he could do whatever. I hated to admit it, but he did look good in his black and red outfit.
"Do you know how to Waltz?" Ayden asked me, pulling me from my thoughts.
"Your brother taught me." I told him.
"Oh.. Okay."
He smiled at me once more before he took my hands in his and pulled me close. His left hand snaked to my back and my free hand moved to his shoulder. I glanced to the right and saw Alias glaring at his brother as he set up with his partner as well. People were all around us, the bridesmaids and the groomsmen. Ayden inhaled deeply before he put his lips close to my ear.
"You smell so divine." He whispered to me.
I wasn't the only one. His Dolce & Gabbana cologne was so powerful and it drove me crazy. I couldn't help, but to press my nose against his neck and inhale. He chuckled in a low tone and I pulled back, blushing.
"I'm sorry." I apologized to him. "You smell so good, yourself."
The crowd around us got quiet and they began to move out of the way. I turned my head and saw the bride and groom make their way over to the dance floor, looking so enticing as ever. They got to the center of the floor and Kain pulled his wife to him, holding her close. The music began to play and the two began to dance. I glanced at Alias, who was now staring at me. Another blush formed on my cheeks before I turned back to Ayden.
"You look nervous." He told me.
"I don't want to mess up." I whispered to him. "Plus, I get butterflies when I know people are watching me."
"There's others. So don't worry."
Kain and his wife were so beautiful together as they danced. It made me a little envious of them, to be honest. I wanted something like that. However, I couldn't find the right guy for me. As soon as the couple danced close to us, Ayden and I began to dance. Holding me close, he twirled me around and I couldn't help, but to smile. My first time dancing the Waltz and I never wanted it to end. Now it was Alias's turn. When Ayden and I danced close to him, him and his partner began to move. It was a repeated pattern and it didn't take long for the whole floor to be used as a dancing floor. Dancing with Ayden, he made me forget about the crowd of people, whispering and watching the show. Hell, I couldn't even look away. Ayden's greyish-green eyes were mesmerizing and they kept me from looking anywhere else.
"So, may get t know you as we dance?" He asked me.
"Of course." I told him.
"What's your full name?"
"Jesslyn Marie Brown."
"Really?"
"Is that bad?"
He licked his lips and shook his head.
"What about you?" I asked him. "Can I know the full name of the man I'm spending time with?"
"Ayden VinBlack." He said.
"Why do I find that dark and sexy?"
Ayden chuckled again.
"You're supposed to as it's supposed to be that way. It's a very dark and sexy last name."
"How old are you?"
"25 years old."
"Whoa, really? I thought you would be older?"
"No."
"So, do you age?"
"Yes, but regardless of my age, I will still look young. I could be 3,000 years old, but this is the face that you would see on that 3,000 year old face."
"So eternal youth is your ability?"
"Not just mines. Everybody else in the room. Every vampire in the world has it."
I nodded and he tilted his head to the side.
"What about you?"
"I'm 20." I told him.
"Wow. And you look this damn good?"
I smiled at him and rested my head on his chest. When I glanced at Alias, he just shook his head at me. He released his partner and walked off. I put my hand on Alias's chest and he stopped dancing.
"I need to get some air." I told him.
"Sure. Can I come with you?"
I nodded and he grabbed my hand and led me away from the dance floor. We left the crowded room and we walked out the house into the beautiful dark evening. He guided me over to a black Lamborghini and he leaned on the hood of the car.
"Is this yours?" I asked him.
"Beautiful, isn't she?" He asked me. "My father bought it for me when I turned 17. Had her ever since, then."
"Wow, she's very beautiful."
Ayden got quiet, but when I glanced at him, he was just staring at me. No blinking or nothing.
"You're making me nervous." I told him, crossing my arms over my chest.
He stood up straight and walked closer to me. He pressed his forehead against mines and his minty-fresh breath brushed against my nose and mouth.
"Say something." I whispered to him.
"Do I have to?"
My eyes scanned every inch of his. I knew what he wanted and I wasn't sure if I was ready to or not.
"Ayden, we just met." I whispered. "Are you sure this is what you want to do?"
He wrapped his arms around me and held me close to him. He nodded his head and he slowly inched his mouth close to mine.
"You better f*****g not." I heard Alias's voice. "Kiss her and I'll f*****g murder you on the spot."
Ayden pulled away from me and I glanced at Alias who was walking over to me with his eyes, a fiery red color. I backed up away from Ayden and he stood in between Alias and I.
"You really want to do this now?" Ayden asked.
"You had it coming." Alias told him.
"So, you're going to try to fight me in fro-."
Ayden didn't get to finish his sentence because as soon as Alias got close to him, Alias's fist connected to his jaw. Ayden groaned, his hand moved to his jaw fast. He spit his blood onto the ground before he turned to Alias.
"Fine." Ayden said, then he removed his vest from his body. "Let's do this now."
